Can love for lace be hereditary? A trait passed down from generation to generation? I ask because of my granny, who, bless her heart, has every square inch of surface area in her apartment covered with lace doilies. The tables, chairs and even the top of the TV. If it’ll fit a lace doily, granny’s got it covered (literally).
I, too, love lace, but I prefer mine with a darker, sexier edge, like the products in the new LORAC Naked Lace Collection ($28) kit have.
LORAC regularly releases cute sets at great prices, but this new one is probably one of my favorites ever.
It was the purse that sucked me in…
Cute, right? 🙂
Along with the purse, the kit comes with two eyeshadows, a blush and three mini lipglosses in easy-to-wear beige, taupe, pink, peach and nude.
Clockwise from the blush on the bottom, that’s Blush in Rendezvous, Mini Couture Shine in Trend Setter, Mini Couture Shine in Vintage, Mini Couture Shine in Muse, Eye Shadow in Negligee and Eye Shadow in Boudoir
A few thoughts on the products…
- The eyeshadows might be a tad frosty for some, but that frost seems to light up my eyes, and I like how easily they blend. The shimmery beige one, Negligee, reminds me of MAC Ricepaper, and Boudoir looks a lot like MAC Satin Taupe.
- I love Rendezvous, the pink blush. If it were warmer and not quite as pink, it could be a dupe for NARS Orgasm. One layer (I use the bounce technique) gives cheeks a natural flush.
- If you like nude lip glosses, then brace yourself for this: the three Mini Couture Shines, which have a light vanilla flavor and scent, are a lot like non-sticky versions of MAC Lipglasses. Pretty? Most definitely. They are. 🙂
Swatches from the left, that’s the Eye Shadow in Negligee, Eye Shadow in Boudoir, Blush in Rendezvous, Mini Couture Shine in Vintage, MIni Couture Shine in Trend Setter and Mini Couture Shine in Muse
Eye Shadows in Negligee and Boudoir on eyes; Blush in Rendezvous on cheeks
Couture Shine in Vintage on lips
Couture Shine in Trend Setter on lips
Couture Shine in Muse on lips
I’ve fallen head over heels in love with this kit! I think it’s a fantastic deal for $28 and comes with high quality products, wearable colors and a cool factor well beyond its price.
If you could use a pick-me-up or just want to freshen your look for fall (and snag an adorable bag in the process), the LORAC Naked Lace Collection kit might be a reason to visit Ulta soon.
PRICE: $28
AVAILABILITY: Available now exclusively at Ulta stores and also online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A (the eyeshadows might be a little too frosty for some gals)
Got some new tunes…
I listen to a lot of hip-hop, dance and pop music now, but I grew up on everything from folk to classic rock and country. My mom and dad loved Crystal Gayle and John Denver, among others, and I vividly remember dancing around the living room while watching Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters.
Speaking of country, this song really moves me. It’s called If I Die Young, by The Band Perry. They’ve been around for a while, but they’re pretty new to me.
I downloaded their album this morning, and I’m really enjoying it. I love the lead singer’s gorgeous wavy hair. 🙂
How do you feel about country music? Are you a fan?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Okay, my wishlist from Ulta is about 3 miles long now. Too bad I JUST bought a bunch of stuff from Sephora. Oh well. Ulta, that is what you get for being so far away!

hi karen, i love your new, shorter do. i’m thinking of cutting my waist long hair to a bob! how’d you decide to go shorter and did you have any celebrities in mind when you made the cut?
Vijaya says
There are no shades there that I don’t have a dupe for. If I get it, it’ll be for the bag, which is so cute. xP
Krystal says
They’re all really pretty, but the clincher would definitely be the cute little bag!
Also, the first time I heard this song was a cover by Sam Tsui and Kurt Schneider on youtube. It’s a gorgeous song. 😀

I’ll definitely have to consider this kit. I love all the colors.
And as for country music (love that song, by the way) I enjoy the country music that is pretty acoustic country, not the kind that is overly produced to make it sound like pop, if that makes sense.
Jen says
Wow Karen – this looks -amazing- on you! I adore the Muse shine. Lovely! ^__^
Sonya says
The colors are all very pretty, though probably not ‘must-haves’ for me. What I’m REALLY digging is the lace bag!!
Vanessa says
Oh Karen you look stunning – everything in the kit looks amazing on you. I had seen this before but wasn’t too impressed but now I NEED it. 🙂

Lorac really knows a girl’s weakness. Lace AND makeup? I’m totally checking this out.

I just knew I was going to fall in love with these products from the get go, but I wasn’t expecting to like the blush as much as I do! However, those eyeshadows are a tad too frosty for my liking, but buying just a lorac blush alone will cost $20 so why not shell out an extra eight for two eyeshadows, three mini glosses (in the some of the prettiest shades ever!) and a to die for nude and black lace bag? I can’t see why not….
Cassy says
I picked this up tonight, I couldn’t resist! It was right by the front door just begging for someone to buy.
Nina says
Karen – you look gorgeous!
you know I love me some Lorac, but im not sure if im keen on a set made up of individual stuff such as this. i have some Lorac e/s singles and id have to say theyre getting no love. quite the opposite is true w/ my Lorac palettes…
Christine says
Eeee, Karen, I’m so glad you reviewed this! I’ve been eyeing it since it popped up in Ulta’s ad, what can I say I’m a sucker for all things lacy too, heehee.
It’s so funny, when I was young (think 11-12) I loved country music (that may have had something to do w/ the region of the country I grew up in…) but I quickly grew away from it. But every now & then when one of those poppy-country songs like the one above make it to the mainstream radio it gets me a lil nostalgic :).
Jenn Staz says
This seems very reasonable for $28! I haven’t tried Lorac yet but really want to now! haha. especially those eyeshadows… they look gorgeous swatched and on you!

Girl I’m loving ur hair in these pics!

Country music is my favorite!

Love love love this set! The little bag is so cute!
As for country music…I live in Oklahoma. I think it’s a sin not to like country music when you live here. 😉 but I just got back from the rodeo (seriously) and I’m feeling a little but extra-country!
Kewt-ified Nails says
GIRL- now I NEED this bag and of course whatever is in it! It looks work appropriate, so what’s another nude set?! 😀
Crystal says
What a cute set, the quality of Lorac products is always so good!
Dominique says
I’m loving the bag. Will have to stop in Ulta and check it out. Not sure if the colors will work for me.
Christina says
Dang, I remember walking by this at Ulta when I was getting some nail polishes from OPI’s Touring America collection… I totally regret not snagging this up! I’ve been possessed to find a pretty taupe eyeshadow and the rest of the products in this collection look great. Must go back to Ulta next week….

I’ve been thinking about this kit ever since I read this post this afternoon.. So this evening I tried to recreate the look w/ the MAC shadows and Orgasm blush, but you just look so much better in the colors from this kit I decided I have to go out and just buy the real thing! Thanks for the review and pics!
Lulle says
The purse is so cute! I love the neutral flattering shades of the products too.

That is a lovely makeup bag. I also really like the song If I Die Young. I recently discovered this song too. I also really like Youtube artist, Sam Tsui’s cover the song. His rendition is amazing! You should check it out. It is in KurtHugoSchneider’s channel.
