The last time Too Faced released a Little Black Book of Bronzers, it was HUGE!
No, literally, it was huge… The palette (or, as Too Faced refers to it, the “bronzing wardrobe”) held eight full-size Too Faced Bronzers, which was very cool if you were/are into the whole “bigger is better” aesthetic, and also very cool if you ever dreamed of owning a palette so gigantic that it could cover half of your body.
This time around, the sequel to The Little Black Book of Bronzers is sleek.
Ish. Sleek-ish.
It’s basically the same idea, except that the pans are smaller this time (0.08 ounces each, instead of 0.28), and the price is too ($49 vs. $139)
So, while you may lose the ability to use it as an improv table for TV dinners or breakfast in bed, and it no longer functions as an umbrella with which to shield yourself from the sun while lounging on the beach with Zac Efron…it’s a lot easier to tote around.
Plus, you know what they say: “Good things come in small packages.” If the original was an oversized coffee table book, this one is the paperback.
Too Faced also tweaked the lineup a little, swapping Bronzed and Poreless for Dark Chocolate Soleil, their newest shade.
Other than that, there’s a good variety of shimmery finishes and mattes, and none of them are excessively warm or orange.
With eight bronzers, there’s one to go with every mood, outfit and moment in yo’ life. Like, have you ever wondered what bronzer to wear to go to your ex’s house to pick up those Biggie CDs that homeboy never had the decency to return?
Well, how about deep shimmery bronzed Beach Bunny? — because you’d want to recreate a glow that says, “Hey, fool. Ever since we broke up, I spend every Sunday by the pool at the Four Seasons with my new billionaire boyfriend.”
Ya know, that kind of thing. 🙂
I like the idea of having a different bronzer for different looks, and that they’re all accessible in a palette that actually fits in a drawer.
Yeah, the original one’s size made it cool…but not practical at all.
The eight bronzers in The (new) Little Black Book of Bronzers include…
- Chocolate Soleil: A cocoa powder-infused matte bronzer (really does smell like chocolate!). Should work well for a wide range of skin tones, too, for everyday contouring, or for creating a deep, all-over tan.
- Milk Chocolate Soleil: A lighter version of Chocolate Soleil. This one should be great for lighter skin tones looking for all-over warmth.
- Dark Chocolate Soleil: A matte bronzer to sculpt cheeks, this deeper version of Chocolate Soleil should be perfect for dramatically contoured looks.
- Snow Bunny: Blend these four shimmery shades together for natural, sun-kissed radiance.
- Pink Leopard: A trio of tan, bronze and pink to brighten and bestow a glow all over.
- Beach Bunny: This luminous bronzer combines four sun-kissed tans into a shower of summery shimmer.
- Endless Summer: This matte works on all skin tones and lasts 16 hours (and sometimes more).
- Sun Bunny: This bronzer’s slightly pink undertones help it imitate a real tan.
You can find The Little Black Book of Bronzers online now ($49), and coming soon to Too Faced counters.
And if you happen to swing by a Too Faced counter soon, check out the new summer 2015 collection, particularly the bright Sugar Pop palette ($36), and the new line of Melted Metals liquid lipsticks ($21 each).

Cute and this one is definitely more practical. I have the mini Bronzer Wardrobe though with 4 of these shades so for now I don’t need any more bronzers.
The Sugar Pop palette is so pretty. Are you going to review it by any chance?

i wish i can buy from too face’s site…but can’t.
Sunny says
Wait, why is my face on your blog? LOL thanks so much for the kind words, Karen! You just totally made my day!
I don’t even bronze much (I don’t know why. I think it’s pure laziness, since most bronzers sit well on me), but I love the idea of having an array of bronzers to choose from in one single palette. This one is definitely more reasonably-sized than the ginormous one they launched last time!

LOL 🙂 I was like: ‘heeeeeey, it’s Sunny!’

Congrats, Sunny!

I’m interested in swatching Dark Chocolate Soleil

Oh mah gooodness! Bronzer overload. I’m probably that one chick in America who gets presented with options & then can’t make up her mind which option to choose. Which just means that me will pass on this! 🙂

The poratble bronze book.. well that could be everything i would want for a soft bronzed look.. U r right the big one wasnt really easy to carry along or even use but this one looks perfect!!
The price diff makes it even more worth it!! 🙂
Kiss & Make-up says
I don’t use bronzer enough to really want this set but it’s definitely a treat for the eyes, so pretty! Would make a fab gift.
LindaLibraLoca says
I like that you have smaller sizes (and a smaller price), so you can test different things without spending too much.
My current bronzer from The Body Shop contains 11g of product, and I don’t know how on earth I will ever finish that one.

This would be fun to have. I passed on the original, but the more I play with bronzers – the more I want to have more bronzers in my collection 🙂

It might be a good thing that Too Faced doesn’t ship to Canada cause I’m supposed to be on a ‘No Buy’ right now. But that doesn’t mean I can’t check Sephora’s site obsessively until this, the Sugar Pop and Natural Mattes palettes come out. And even though I’m kinda back to not really wearing lip colours, I really wanna play with the new Melted Metals.
Are you gonna do reviews on more of the new Too Faced products for those of us that need to live our makeup lives vicariously through you?
P.S. The puppy on the cover is sooo cute!

What bronzer are you using in this photo? It looks beautiful on you! I have similar skin tone to you and always love your recommendations:)

The iPhone 6 Plus for scale totally threw me for a loop there Karen, *wait a second, I thought it was bigger when she was holding it*… *oh wait, that’s a 6 Plus, LOL*
I’m excited Too Faced came out with a more compact, cheaper option for people who missed out on the bronzing wardrobe the first time around. I’m not a bronzing fiend, so I’ll pass, but I think they made a lot of people happy with this release! Fingers crossed they’ll come out with a blush version?

My goodness!!! You’re hilarious…and informative. Let’s do lunch!
Erin says
I love the tone of their bronzers, I just wish they made one slightly lighter than the lightest offering!
Jen says
I know this is off topic, but can you please let us know where the gorgeous phone cover is from?
Karen says
Hi Jen,
It’s from Nordie’s, and they have a ton of other cute designs too. 🙂
Tricia says
Karen, I’m an NC44 and am new to sculpting and contouring. Do you think I should buy the Chocolate Soleil or the Dark Chocolate Soleil?
Geraldine says
As Jen said above, where is this phone case from? It’s gorge!
Karen says
Hi Geraldine,
It’s the Sonix Fuchsia Bloom for the iPhone 6 Plus at Nordie’s. They also have a bunch of other adorable cases.
