The Chanel Les Contrastes de Chanel Collection: These Rouge Coco Lipsticks Sing Songs of Summer for Fall 2010

Chanel Les Contrastes de Chanel Collection Fall 2010 Rouge Coco

Dagnabbit, Coco! Why you gotta make me fall in love with you over and over again? Your three new limited edition (I just found out these shades are being added to the permanent line, huzzah!) Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour Lipsticks ($30 each) from the fall 2010 Les Contrastes de Chanel Collection sing a summery song of seduction, and you know what? I’m totally listening.

Each fall dark, serious shades and heavy matte textures crop up on makeup counters, so the pink, peach and coral lippies in Les Contrastes are welcome breaks from the norm. The colors make me think of summer sunsets, like the one I just missed tonight!

Chalys, the shimmery coral, adds a bright but not overwhelming pop of color to pouts; while the other two shades offer sophisticated options for nude lip looks. Try Chintz (the soft peach) if you wear warm-toned shades well, or Rose Dentelle (the cool baby pink) if cooler colors suit you better.

All three colors grace lips with that classic Rouge Coco texture — smooth, light and oh so moisturizing.

The last time I felt this inspired by a Chanel fall collection was 2007’s Garden Party. Yah, last year’s Venice Collection had some memorable moments, but lipstick-wise, I think these three new shades are a lot more exciting and wearable.

Did I mention that I love these to bits? Le sigh! Available next month at Chanel counters and online at Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

The colors are gorgeous! Oh, and did you get highlights, Karen? I hope I’m not noticing like, five months late, lol, but your hair looks great!

    • Karen says:

      Hi Pinksoysauce,

I did… just a month or so ago! I think they’ve finally lightened up enough to show up in pics. 🙂

I think it’s because I’ve actually been good about getting the mop cut as of late. I have the bad habit of letting it grow out and turn into a hot mess, LOL!

How’s your day going so far? We’re almost to Friday, WOOT!

  5. Natalie says:

do they last a long time? also did you need like a lip primer? ive been using clinique all about lips cuz other wise my lips look trashed. with these could i skip that?

  6. Lindsay says:

All three will hopefully be mine…

    • Karen says:

      Hi Inaya,

Glad you find the full face shots helpful. 🙂

LOL… that’s the only corner of the place that’s actually clean at the moment!

  8. Alison says:

So far I have only gotten round to getting my hands on one Rouge Coco and that is Perle and I love it! I think they are the best lipsticks I have ever tried!

These new colours are stunning! The coral looks amazing on you, I wish I could wear corals but I am too pale to carry them off. So, from this collection I will be going for Rose Dentelle.

Are these limited edition? I wil be gutted if I love the colour and I can’t get replacements!

  9. Love the lipsticks 🙂

  11. Faye says:

I saw the lipsticks last week, and while they were pretty, somehow they just didn’t seem to fit with the rest of the colors, especially the purples in the shadow/nail polish. They were more summery. Of course I still bought one :).

    • Karen says:

      Hi Faye,

I think that’s the whole hook of this collection — it’s a study in contrasting elements. I like it!

      • Faye says:

I get the concept of contrasts; if there were purple glosses and lipsticks as well as everything else being purple, it would be too much. I guess for me the idea of coral lipsticks just didn’t complement the shadows they have at all. Like for Bobbi Brown’s denim and roses palette, the colors are a contrast, but they still harmonize with each other. To me, coral and purple just didn’t seem like they should be together at all.

Well, I guess I’m the math/science/business person, the artistic appreciation genes must have passed me by 🙂

  12. Scientific Housewife says:

    Beautiful colors!

  13. Nina says:

If I had to pick just one, id pick Chalys in a heartbeat. Its a lovely, lovely color and looks great on you and I feel it will be universally flattering!!!

  14. Michelle says:

Gorgeous! I just left a comment about the glossimers saying that I couldn’t wait to see the lipsticks — and I scrolled down and there they were 🙂 Love Chanel . . . I need a higher paying job LOL

  15. lexi says:

Oooh Chalys is pretty. I’ve put a serious dent in my Rouge Coco Secret that I know I’ll have an open spot in my makeup bag for this baby when it hits the counters. I did visit my regular Chanel SA at Nordstrom and she said she’d call me as soon as she received their testers so I can start placing my pre-order. I might pass up on some serious Anniversary palettes to make room on my credit card for this Chanel Fall collection and the BB denim & rose palette I peeped from your other post!

  16. mkdallas says:

These are gorgeous and if I get one, it will definitely be Chintz! I’ve been dropping some serious cash on luxury lippies over the past year (Guerlain Rouge G & YSL Rouge Volupte) and am curious as to how these Rouge Cocos stack up in terms of pigmentation and opacity next to the other 2 brands. I like a one-swipe-full-coverage lipstick; do the Rouge Cocos deliver or are they fairly sheer?

  17. Pricey, but I’ll probably get one of these (Chintz, Chalys). Very nice… wish they were less sheer!
    .-= Bunny Masseuse’s last blog post… Ok, So I can’t resist strange things I see… =-.

More colors for Rouge Coco? How will I resist?

  19. Karen B says:

These look like they will have me spending money…. Again.

by the way: I exercised an extreme amount of willpower today. I was at the Antwerp MAC counter and I only got what I really needed: a tube of mascara, a new 210 brush (my brother somehow lost me my first… boooo) and an empty 4 pro-pan palette.
I’m really proud of myself 🙂

  20. Marie says:

Those are 3 gorgeous colors! Karen, Chalys looks STUNNING on you! I’ve always avoided coral lip colors…they never seem to look good on me. I’m the same coloring as you…I’ll have to check out Chalys as soon as it’s at the counters.

  21. Gisele says:

I think I “need” the two pink lippes. You appear to have pigmented lips and mine are so darn pigmented that most lipsticks look like MLBB. So if the Rose Dentelle and Chintz show up on your lips, there is hope for me! Thank you for giving us a look at these gorgeous Chanel products. A major haul is planned.

  22. weng says:

chanel rouge coco collections are amazing!! i fell in love with it after trying one color and now have the entire collection…..most of them, i find sheer but buildable without looking cakey on the lips…its moisturizing as well(compare to mac which i find quite drying)..its pricey but i think the quality is very good!!! im getting Chaliz definitely..i will have to try the other two lippies on my lip first but im only getting one of the pink lipstick coz they look quite similar

  23. Andreea says:

..the only question for me is which one will suit the Enigma quad best. And how to hide it from my SO. Well stop, why not ask him to get it for me? (and ignore the question “How many lipsticks do you have?!)
…and of course I need the TEASER glossimer since I look longer nor fpr pinky gold. Yay.

  25. Marina says:

I was extremely happy when I found out about these lipsticks! I wanted to buy Coco Rouge so much but I couldn’t find my shade, you know 🙁
But Rose Dentelle and Chintz and PERFECT! Can’t wait to get them 🙂
Both shades look great on you, too!

omg. i just squealed with delight. not one, not even two or three, but like six times. eeeeeeeps i wannemrightnow.

  27. Tina says:

You look gorgeous Karen! Can you do a tutorial on the dark blue smokey eye?

  28. Natasha says:

These colours look absolutely lovely on you, especially Chaliz!! (as everyone else said) Is there a color dupe for it in MAC shades? ditto for Mademoiselle?
