If I had to be a goddess, I would not say no to being a goddess of bronze, but what I’d really want to be is a goddess of cats.
No, scratch that. I’d be the goddess of plus-size tabby cats with low-hanging bellies, because it’s all about being specific.
Yes, I have no idea what I’m talking about. 🙂
Every year around this time, like clockwork, Estée Lauder reveals a new Bronze Goddess-themed collection, and this year it’s Shimmering Nudes.
The collection’s face and eye palette, stick highlighter and gloss, all of which will be available this April with the rest of the 14-piece collection at Estée Lauder counters and online, are telling me that 1) summer is right around the corner, and 2) I should probably book a vacation to someplace warm soon.
Is it just me, or does the Shimmering Nudes Face & Eye Palette ($55) radiate a MAC vibe?
Its eyeshadows could totally pass for Ricepaper, Amber Lights and Bronze, and even though I’ve seen the colors before, I still like this formula and the way they’re executed here.
The powders meld seamlessly into each other on my lids, and blending them is like three snaps in a Z formation. In other words, “haaay!” So good.
I actually did my foundation and concealer before this makeup look, and I didn’t have to do any additional cleanup under my eyes afterwords. No problems at all with fallout.
And I like the bronzer, too. It has a strong undercurrent of red that mimics a legit tan. There’s also golden flecks of glitter in it, which makes me think that this bronzer might even work better as an all-over warming product than one to contour (I prefer to use ashy cool-toned mattes to really carve out those cheekbones).
Interestingly, the face and eye palette is a Sephora exclusive, which is kind of cool and weird, and by that I mean this: have you actually seen Estée Lauder at your local Sephora store? Because mine doesn’t carry the line, and I don’t know if this is a one-shot deal or the start of a long-term trend. I really hope it’s the latter.
As for the All Over Illuminator/stick highlighter, I totally thought it was a blush (because of the golden peachy pink color), so I sloshed it all over my cheeks with a stippling brush.
Whoops! Come to find out it’s actually a highlighter, which yeah, makes sense now, because after I applied it on the apples of my cheeks, my skin looked dewy…like a wee fairy’s cheeks upon waking on a crisp, spring morning.
I like that the finish is more glossy than frosty shimmer. If you’re all about that glossy glow, girl, go there.
I’m also wearing the Pure Color Gloss Pen in Nude Coral ($22) in these pics. It’s a super sheer, super shiny, super yummy smelling (it’s got that peach gummy candy scent I like so much, but no gummy flavor).
It feels interesting, too — same thickness as a MAC Lipglass, but not sticky at all, and it lasts a surprisingly long time, considering. It hangs tough on my lips 4-5 hours, even lasting through snacks and lunch.
Keep your eyes peeled for the Bronze Goddess Shimmering Nudes makeup collection when it arrives on counters in April, and if you happen to stop by an EL counter before then, give a few sniffs to the Bronze Goddess Fragrances (which include a body oil, perfume, body cream and a rollerball), available now at Estée Lauder counters and online.
So, friends and bronze goddesses, are you into this, or totally over it? Estée Lauder has been riding this wave for a while.
I’m still into it. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

You are the Bronze Goddess!! Though pretty, I think they could have done a little more with the palette. I love the look of the highlighter, however!

The cheek and eye palette looks lovely but the thing that interested me the most if that highlighting stick because I am all about dewy glowing cheeks 😉 .. I guess it can be doubled up as a blush as well over some powder formula for a glowing look 🙂
You look like a Goddess only with those eye shadows perfectly blended and the gorgeous glowing cheeks… <3

Is there a separate bronzer in the line like earlier? I couldn’t spot anything on their website either. The cheek and eyes palette is gorgeous this time around!

Very nice, but nothing is calling my name right now!
Just a note on Estee Lauder in Sephora- they launched in a very few selected test stores a little more than 1 year ago. I can confirm two locations (34th St NYC, Tysons Corner- VA), but I suspect there’s more than that. I stumbled onto a launch event right after they brought the makeup line into Tysons, and was told that it was essentially a test. Apparently it went well since in that timeframe, the brand keeps expanding on Sephora’s site.
I guess that makes Estee Lauder much like Giorgio Armani, Christian Louboutin, and (sadly) Guerlain- retail locations exist but are few and far between!

I think this collection is exciting every year. I like the new pieces- the highlighter looks really pretty. So yes to being a bronze goddess.
Btw, waiting at the airport to fly back home. Send some positive thoughts my way so I make it back in one piece!

Ooh this is lovely! I’m a super pale lady so I usually walk on by anything with ‘bronze’ in its name, but the sweet pink glowiness of these products is calling my name! I hope these will be released in Australia!

Where did you get that necklace you’re wearing in the photo? It’s adorable!
Antonia says
I’m pretty interested in trying the Illuminator! I’m a sucker for anything illuminating that will provide a dewy finish as well.

Love the bronze goddess stuff! I just got an email from ULTA that they are now carrying Lancôme, and I know that sephora carries Clinique ( at least online they do). I don’t know why but I always think of Macy’s as the only place that carries Estée lauder, Lancôme and Clinique! (That’s the way it is in my dinky town anyway!)

Love the packaging (and of course the contents). I have their Bronze Goddess blush from a while ago, and it’s one of the best blushes i have.
And what’s with making some of this stuff exclusive to Sephora? Mine doesn’t have an EL counter :(. Hard to buy things sight unseen!
Kiss & Make-up says
You know, I’m not much of a shimmer girl when it comes to face products but I do like the eye look and the whole bronze theme.

Everything looks so beautiful! I really like that palette. The first and last shades are especially pretty

Love the look of this! I went over to the Sephora website and their photo of the Face and Eye Palette is so much darker. Now I’m not so sure I want to order this considering how fair I am. Gorgeous colors on you!
Erin says
I think the illuminator on someone as fair as me would be more blush like! I like it though. EL is pretty popular in this are so I’ll have to swatch it at one of the many counters!
