Shhh… Do you hear that?
That’s the sound of The Body Shop’s new Baked Powder Bronzer in Warm Glow ($21) whispering, “Come take a closer look.” 🙂
One of two new powder bronzers in the Nomadic Goddess summer makeup collection, Warm Glow appears aptly named, imparting a golden brown sheen with hints of peachy pink and faint micro-glitter.
First, would I call it a bronzer? Well, that depends. Darker divas might find that it makes a better highlighter or blush. In my case, I don’t feel it’s dark enough to contour with, and I probably wouldn’t use it as a basic bronzer. Lighter lovelies, on the other hand, should get to use it both ways — as a bronzer or a blush — with more of the brown coming through on their skin.
The Body Shop says they make this and their other powder products by hand, baking them in terracotta discs that bind the pigments together. I can see it now… men and women dressed like cooks in a kitchen, covered from head to toe in excess powder!
I love the idea, and I think it makes their powder products that much more special.
The company clearly feels good about Warm Glow because not only are they releasing it for summer (it’s available now), but they’re also adding it to their permanent line.

I love Warm Glow’s natural, afternoon-by-the-pool glow, but like so many products I’ve tried lately, it has a tough time going the distance.
Eight-hour color? Nope. Try four, max. 🙁
The wear time doesn’t doom the product, at least not for me, because I can still see myself using it to get a golden brown sheen that doesn’t need to last (like for a quick event), but I think it does keep it from achieving superstar status.
While I like the color, sheen and Shu Uemura-like packaging, Warm Glow doesn’t blow me away. I think it’s interesting, and lighter lovelies who don’t mind having to reapply often just might fall in love. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B-
You might like The Body Shop Baked Powder Bronzer in Warm Glow if…
- You’re looking for a delicate sheen and not a full-on glow
- You don’t mind having to reapply often
- You feel like you wear golden brown bronzers well

P.S. What’s new out yonder way? Anything new to report?

blegh it’d probably scootch off my skin in even less time then. things tend to smudge on me/disappear super quickly. It does give a very nice glowy-not-glittery look though

Do you use a setting spray like Fix+? It might make a difference in the wear time of your products.
Lakish says
This sort of reminds me of Victoria’s Secret Mineral Bronzing Powder ($14) so it could definitely be duped!

Thanks for the dupe idea, Lakish!

Aw, it’s a shame this product didn’t work wonderfully for you. It’s brilliant on me (not to brag or anything, ha ha)! I’m very fair with pink undertones and usually I shy away from bronzers because I think they make me look dirty, but this one just works. It gives my skin just enough colour that I look more lively; I daresay my face looks slimmer when I have it on, too! I haven’t noticed the disappearing act, which I’m thankful for because on my oily skin, foundation and cheek products are always the first to go. This product has become an everyday staple for me. Prestige has a very similar line of bronzers out which may work better for people such as yourself who find TBS’ version disappears quickly. I have the Prestige version in Pure Shimmer, which is more of a highlighting product, and like it a lot too.

Hi Becca,
It’s good to know that it stays on other people! I hope that other ladies have more success with it, because it has such a lovely finish!

While I appreciate the whole hand baked thing and all, $21! When did Body Shop get so pricey?
Karen says
Yeah… I’ve noticed the same thing’s happened with their body care too.

Looks like my Leopard one by Too Faced. Maybe just a tad darker…

I love how that powder looks in the pan. So cute!
Rachael says
I’m almost afraid to swirl my brush over it cause I want to keep the spots. I’m such a dork….

Aww.. i really liked the swatch of this! the light colour would work well for me because i find bronzers are usually too dark for me 🙁 and the sheen is gorgeous! perfect for highlighting or adding that glowly summer look. i only wished it lasted longer! and like Steph B said, why is the body shop so expensive? 🙁 gives me more incentive to pay a few extra bucks on a higher brand…

I’ve wondered the same thing!
If you like it maybe just give a try just for fun. A few peeps have mentioned using a setting spray to keep it locked down; that might help too.

Karen! I recently figured out something for my disappearing products! I only very recently starting using a setting spray in the morning… not even really because I thought I needed one, I’ve never really had a problem with my foundation not staying on, but sometimes I overapply powder so I’d started spritzing with my Shu Uemura Depsea water every few mornings (I bought it as a refreshing spray). However, I have problems with about half of my blushes fading on me by midday and it’s really frustrating because I felt like I was the only person in the world who doesn’t like NARS blushes. I recently received Torrid as a gift and it barely lasted 4 hours on me! And it wasn’t even like some of my other blushes that just fade a little, it was COMPLETELY GONE after 4 hours, as if I hadn’t applied any blush at all even though in the morning I had been a little concerned I’d applied too much. =/ So anyway, yesterday I tried purposefully spritzing my face with the Depsea water AFTER I applied blush instead of between powder and blush and wouldn’t you know, Torrid lasted a full 14 hours! I tried it with NARS Sin today and while I didn’t wear it as long, it was still going strong by the end of the day. I’m gonna try Tarina Tarantino Parasol (but I mean, even this lasts 8hrs on me) and Rock & Republic X-Rated (fades after 8ish hours) next. 😀

Hi Catherine,
Thanks for reminding me about the power of setting spray. I have Fix+ so I’ll give that a go.
Quick question for you — are you wearing a primer? That might help to keep the color on your face for longer.
Nina says
I do the same spritzy thing with either a Lush toner (Breath of Fresh Air) or the Shiseido Hadasui Skin and Body Water — ive noticed that the face make up does stay on.
Karen says
Hmm, if I get around to doing it this weekend I might try another go’ round with a spritz of Fix+ on the top. 🙂
Happy Friday!

This is very pretty and looks like it could work well for me as most bronzers are usually too dark for my skin. It’s a shame it doesn’t last longer though.

I know! I mean, maybe it’s different for other people, but I felt like it just slipped right off.

Yayayayayay review! (I’m pretty crazy about the look of these products… it’s too bad that it was a letdown for wear time 🙁 )

02 Warm Gold kind of reminds me of Too Faced Pink Leopard + MAC MSF. It’s pretty
I probably would use it as blush rather than bronzer (not that I have it), because it’s too shiny/shimmery.

Steph, Agnes & Karen: About The Body Shop’s prices–they skyrocketed when TBS was purchased by Estee Lauder after TBS’s founder Anita Roddick died. Major bummer. I hardly ever buy their products any more. They’ve discontinued most of the ones I liked anyway, Does anyone know of anything that smells like TBS’s Seaweed & Loofah exfoliating soap? That was my favorite.
Erica says
I work for the company…I rarely use their make up because other lines have superior products; however, I love the golden bronze bronzer. It is the only make up item from Body Shop that I have bought. I am NC25 and it really works for me. 🙂

I’ve been using no.02, Golden Bronze, for the past month now and it’s been great! The color looks fantastic on my skin, which is a medium shade of beige, yellow undertones. My skin type is normal and the powder stayed for the entire day, exactly where I put it 🙂 I also wore it at night, going out, and same result: absolutely perfect resistance!
I am very satisfied with this product and, no doubt, I will use it the entire summer!! 🙂 So glad to hear it will be part of the permanent line!
Love your blog, keep up the good work!!
Hugs from Romania 🙂
