Yes, grasshopper. You are ready…

Ready to take the leap!

You have trained well in the pursuit of flushed cheek perfection, swirling and bouncing your blush brush, and now it is time to take your level of blush love from hobbyist to full-blown enthusiast.

You can — no, you must lead your team of four Tarte powder blushes to new heights of flushed-faced fabulosity! I have complete faith in you.

True, the four new, limited edition shades in the $35 Fantastic Foursome holiday kit are all acolytes, yet each has demonstrated great fortitude and skill.

All of them hail from an elite fighting force, the League of Amazonian Clay Blushes, arguably among the best products in the entire Tarte tribe. Their soft formula, take-no-prisoners pigment and fearsome 10-hour wear time (although Tarte advertises 12) make for some seriously long-lasting blushing.

Meet the new members of the team…

Fantastic

A cool-toned matte fuchsia, Fantastic excels at not only face-to-face flirting, but also at quickly administering a bright, just-pinched flush to the apples of unassuming cheeks. Pair it with any number of pink, purple and/or plum lipsticks or glosses currently residing in your makeup bag.

Magic

You have to believe this shade is maaaaagic! Nothing can stand in its waaaaay!

Sorry…random Xanadu moment. :)

This neutral pinkish coral has been trained to treat cheeks lightly kissed by the sun, which is to say that I love the way it looks with a bit of a tan.

Stellar

The team’s triple threat! Wear this peachy brown, with its flecks of silver glitter, as a blush, as a contour shade along your cheekbones, in the crease of your eyes, or as a bronzer all over your face.

Angelic

This shimmery neutral gold specializes in rapid highlighting of upper cheekbones, down the bridges of noses and along brow bones and cupid’s bows.

As their leader, you are authorized to command your team however you see fit, sending them to class, to work, or to meet that cutie at the bookstore for coffee. But be warned! — watch your six, since Tarte did not include mirrors in the pans.

What’s so fantastic about the Fantastic Foursome?

  • Although Tarte refers to this as a blush set, I think it’s more than that, thanks to the inclusion of colors that can serve as bronzers and highlighters.
  • In terms of price, it’s also a pretty good deal, as the blushes work out to about $8.75 per 0.10-ounce pan (versus the 0.20-ounce full size pans, which sell for $25 each and work out to $12.50 per 0.10 ounces)
  • The packaging! I think it’s gorgeous and seems special.

PRICE: $35
AVAILABILITY: Available online now at tarte.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A- (I do wish the pans had little mirrors)

Zombies, zombies everywhere (and not a drop of dog food to eat)!

Oh please, oh please, oh please! — tell me you saw the new Walking Dead last night. I don’t want to spoil it if you haven’t, but I’m dying to talk about it with someone in the comments! :)

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I’m glad these got your stamp of approval! I have one of Tarte’s amazonian blushes, and I’ve been eyeing these ones because of the nice range of colors in the set.

  2. Courtney says:

Ok i saw Walking Dead! I thought it was absolutely awesome. I missed Andrea a bit, since she is my favorite strong female character, but overall I thought it was great! I also thought that they fit in enough zombie killin’ to satisfy us all for a good while. I did think it was interesting how Rick was not talking to Laurie. You can see how messed up he is over the Shane thing.

    • Karen says:

      Hi Courtney,

Me too! I was afraid that it would be super slow like last season, but so far it seems like the writers have turned up the drama! What the heck happened there at the end? Do you think Hershel has a chance? I’d just assumed that the infection spreads quickly, and once you’re bitten, BAM — zombie time.

      • Courtney says:

I don’t think he does. That doesn’t make sense, or else everyone that was bitten would have just chopped off whatever got bit and have been good. But, I think this’ll add suspense and maybe they’ll make it a twist that he’ll live. When they were getting ready to go I actually said to my herb “Why are they taking Hershel? He’s not in the BA group” (Rick, Darryl, T-Dawg, Glen, and Maggie). So I thought they may be offing him. And that was awesome at the end! I don’t understand how they lived in there that whole time! Ah. So good.

        • Karen says:

I was thinking the same thing when he walked in with the group. My heart broke when Maggie started crying after he was bitten! :( And then my stomach turned when Rick chopped off the poor guy’s leg. The entire time I was like, “They’re not going to show it, they’re not going to show it!” and then suddenly, “HOLY CRAP! THEY SHOWED IT!”

I’m really excited for this season. I have high hopes!

  3. Hey that’s a pretty great deal! I’ve heard great things about these blushes (probably from you), so this would be a great chance to try them out!

This set is probably a little more expensive in Canada (where I live), but either way I think it’s an amazing deal. I love how they included a highlighting shade as well! What a great little bonus! :)

    Thanks for the review!

  6. Lauren says:

I love that you’re just as obsessed with the Walking Dead as I am! What do you think is going to happen with Lori’s baby? I thought last season that she’d have a stillborn zombie baby and after she said that to Hershel last night I don’t know if I’m right or if that’s just too obvious?! I had such a HUGE crush on Shane (just his looks – his personality certainly wasn’t attractive) and I just miss his face!!!

    • Karen says:

That scene where Laurie was freaking out was SO REAL. I hope to gawd that it isn’t a zombie baby! (But wouldn’t it just bite its way through her tummy? It’s all very confusing).

Did you scream at the end? I was so not ready for that jelly!

Speaking of Shane…he’s gonna be on a new show on TNT. :)

  7. Chelsea says:

I saw it! Zack read the graphic novel, so he spoiled it a little bit though :( Excited for the new season!

I’ll take a pass on this – neither the fuchsia or that brown color would look good on me. I do need some new blush though, so I might try out some of the regular line.

  8. Crystal says:

I still can’t get over Rick’s line, “I’m busy doing stuff. Thaaangs.” when he was trying to get Lori off his back. That’s totally going to be my new excuse for everything from now on LOL!

  9. I need these!
AND boy I am LOVING mean Rick! He’s so no more Mr. Pushover! I think I screamed in horror about 3 times last night. When he took the mask off of that one Zombie Squad dude and his face peeled off too???? HOLY yuck! I don’t think Lori is going to have a zombie baby though.I think it’ll be fine. And Carl isn’t a useless little kid anymore too. Love that and his little crush hehe. Did you see the Season 3 sneak peak they showed on Saturday. MERLE.

Loving magic & fantastic, looks great on you! Do you think it will work for NC42 skintone? My favorite AC Blush is Tickled(peacy pink from a kit), also have flush and usually wear rose, peachy brown, purply pink, plum & berry lip colors… Also, can you post the info on the lip color you are wearing? Your opinion on the new kat von d lock-it tattoo foundation please? Thanks..

  17. Magic is an obvious pick for me though I’m pleasantly surprised to see how gorgeous Fantastic looks on your cheeks! I thought it would be one of those unflattering cool pinks!
