There’s a magical place on every surfboard known as the sweet spot — the place in which you achieve perfect board balance. When you find the sweet spot, standing up on your board is a breeze.
When I first heard of Sweet Spot Labs, I thought it was a surfing supply company, but that is so not the case. It’s actually a line of cleansers, wipes and mists for your private girlie parts. Yes, *those* parts.
I got to wondering, “Do my girlie parts actually need a separate cleanser? Or is this just marketing mumbo jumbo?”
Think about it — we use separate products to wash our face, body, hair, teeth, hands and even feet. I know that when I’ve used some body washes on my face, my cheeks and eyes felt dry, tight and uncomfortable.
Still, I’ve always thought girlie parts cleansers fell under the body cleanser category. Have I been wrong?
Earlier today I dashed off to the city to meet the fabulous Bella (of BellaSugar.com) for coffee and to catch up. That girl sure can blog! The entire Sugar Inc. network of blogs and sites for women has been up to big things lately. They’re full of surprises.
I was going to head over to Saks to see if I could find the Nars Bridal Palette Bella talked about a few weeks ago, but I hurt my knee jogging up a hill last night, and after the little bit of walking I did in SF this morning, I think I’m done moving for the day. Time to ice my wounds!
I hope you’re fully bipedal and feeling pretty today.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

i cant remember where i’ve heard it, but doctors have said that a separate cleanser isn’t really needed, since your body takes care of that for you 🙂
i’m sure it can’t hurt, but i dunno if you really need to dish out cash for it…
by the way, i know i’m off topic but i just bought too faced’s magic wand foundation from sephora and i’m in love, go try it! 😀

Well frankly, I think that anything safe enough for use on my face/eye area is safe enough for anywhere else 😛
Jess says
Wow ok that’s just marketing. An entire line for this? Just rob me and steal my purse already.
Have a great weekend k! Use ibuprofen and ice for your sore knee….
Glosslizard says
I’m sure it’s a good product, but as long as one’s body cleanser is mild and non-irritating, I don’t think it’s a necessary outlay! I’d rather spend the bucks on one more Shu shadow, thanks! 😉
Cindy says
Wow – quite the overwhelmingly lopsided response on this poll! Too funny.
Karen says
Hi Rachel,
I checked it out on the Sephora website and it looks interesting (but my shade looks like it’s sold out, boo hoo). What do you like about it?
Karen says
Hi Sylvie,
That’s a good point. Makes me look at my face wash a lil’ differently…
Karen says
Hi Jess,
You have a great weekend, too. I took some Advil earlier and have been trying to stay off the bum knee. No getting low or booty poppin’ at the club tonight, LOL. What are you doing this evening? I think I’m just going to go the movies!
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
Yeah, me too. I’m saving for the Chanel fund, myself! 😉
Karen says
Hi Cindy,
Ha! Did ya have to do this poll at home?

I think I’ll stick to body wash – although I imagine some of the line of will be handy for an on-the-go refresher?!
That NARS bridal palette looks so unbelivably awesome. With the exception of Orgasm – I don’t have any of those colors!

it’s incredibly convenient! i bought it for my upcoming trip to miami, and my sephora guy turned me to this. it feels really light, has some vitamins in there, and won’t clog me up. not to mention my color was “miami tan”. it was calling me!

I’ve always used a separate product (liquid soap) for the girlie parts! When I first moved to the States I was surprise to find only one product, Summer’s Eve, for this delicate job. Back in Italy we had tons to pick from… then again, we also had bidets. On a side note (personal experience), if you ever find one that is peppermint scented, don’t buy it!

Proably TMI but I just rinse well and use a little soap or a baby wipe when aunt flow visits. Might be good for travel but baby wipes are just fine I think. Knee pain sucks! Remember to RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation). Sorry am trained in first aid!
Keshieshimmer says
I have always read that you don’t need special cleansers for that part, because it is self-cleaning. I say marketing ploy!

Karen,
The Dior Quad in the colors that you featured would look great with your skin tone. I could just see you in them now. So far, nothing in the fall colors that has emerged so far in any line, including my fave Chanel, has rung my chimes, much to the delight of my pocketbook. I guess that I will be looking toward the Holiday collections. But in the meantime, I am just holding onto the magnificence of summer!!! Louise

I can tell you from personal experience that body washes and stuff like that is way too harsh for my precious girly bit. I use a separate wash or just hot water. 🙂

I use one cleanser. I could see using a separate cleanser if you happen to be “sensitive”. But from what I’ve heard the body is made to handle it on it’s own.

Hi Laurie,
Yeah, I think the purse wipes might be handy during that time o’ the month. I may end up just picking those up just to try them.
Believe it or not, I might be the only woman on this earth who doesn’t own that Nars blush!
Karen says
Hi Rachel,
Oh! I will have to try it. I like to have different foundations in my arsenal so this might work for me. I hope it doesn’t make me break out!
Karen says
Hi Nyspender,
When I went to Europe a few years ago the whole bidet thing confused this Yankee. I remember using them to clean my feet, LOL.
Good call on the peppermint scent! I second that, and would also like to add anything with a cooling sensation might be a bad idea, too.
Karen says
Hi Tania,
Thanks for the first aid advice. I iced like crazy and now I’m feeling almost 100%. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Kehieshimmer,
Self cleaning, like ovens! Yeah, I dunno; I might just pick some up out of curiosity.
Karen says
Hi Louise Gray,
Thanks! 🙂 I didn’t know you were a Chanel junkie, too. What are your favorites from the line?
Karen says
Hi Jen,
Interesting. I wonder if switching it up will open up a whole new world… hmmm!
Karen says
Hi Baby Girl,
I guess to each her own! Saves you a bit of money, too.

Ugh, I hate their marketing
“You use WHAT on your WHERE??”
I use SOAP on my VULVA. Its perfectly fine and I don’t need another expensive product trying to shame me into using it by suggesting that my perfectly normal natural feminine scent needs to be beaten into submission with special scented soaps, perfumes, or scented wipes! Grr!
Surely all these scented products are actually *bad* for the vulva/vagina? This reminds me of those old ads for douches.

I had just had to pipe up and mention that the Sweet spot wash has made such a difference for me. I use regular old Dove bar soap in the shower, and had used that “down there” for years as well – and it always left me with some irritation. I always thought that was normal until I tried the Sweet spot wash on a whim – I’ll never go back to using regular soap again! I’ve gotten all of my friends hooked as well. One bottle lasts me 6-7 months – you only need a small amount – so it is really a great deal. The smell isn’t overwhelming either – it just leaves you feeling fresh and clean. The wipes are great for that time of month, otherwise I don’t use them. Hope that helps! 🙂
