Wearing Dolce & Gabbana Bouquet Collection Lipgloss in Raspberry on my lips
I have a confession to make… I had a blast wearing that crazy blue lipstick around the house yesterday, but I didn’t have the guts to wear it out in public.
I know! Me — the gal who’s always bugging you to try new colors and break out of your comfort zone. Well, I tried to take my own advice, but I only made it as far as the garage.
Yep, there I was, sitting in the car with the engine warming up, and me in my blue lips, when I succumbed to the urge to check myself in the rear-view mirror.
“Holy crap, Karen!” I said to my cerulean self. “You look bat sh*t cray.”
It was bad enough that the errand I intended to run already involved me having to do something of potential embarrassment in rush-hour traffic (stay tuned for tonight’s post!), but the blue lips just took it to a whole new level.
I mean, I’m all for trying new things when it comes to makeup — why not, right? It washes off — but sometimes the desire to feel pretty trumps my cosmetics curiosity.
Good thing I always keep makeup wipes in the car (you never know when you’ll get the urge to swatch).
After I wiped my blue lips clean, I went rutting around in my purse for something else to wear, and the new Dolce & Gabbana Bouquet Lipglosses were the first things to catch my eye.
I’ve been wearing these sheer, softly shiny glosses ($29 each) a lot lately to balance out looks with bold/smokey eyes.
Lipglosses from the top to bottom: Acqua (repromote), Raspberry (new), Innocence (repromote), Shimmer (repromote) and Pink Diamond (repromote), $29 each
Swatches from the left: Innocence, Raspberry, Shimmer, Pink Diamond and Acqua
Pink Diamond
Shimmer
Innocence
If you check ’em out on a future trip to Saks and don’t get totally distracted by some of the other gorgeous stuff at the Dolce & Gabbana counter (like the blushes, the Passion Duos or the to-die-for Khol polishes), let me know how it goes.
If you like natural lip looks, keep these non-sticky lippies in mind. So pretty, especially if you wear sheer glosses more often than — oh, I don’t know — cray-cray bright blue lipsticks. 🙂
The Dolce & Gabbana Bouquet Collection Lipglosses
- Available in five shades, four of which are repromotes — clear Acqua, shimmery golden peach Shimmer, creamy pink Innocence, and shimmery lilac Pink Diamond — while one, creamy mauve Raspberry, is brand new
- About a 2-hour wear time
- They have a faint rose flavor and scent
- I think they’re fairly moisturizing; I don’t feel the need to apply a lip balm first
- They come with a doe-foot applicator
PRICE: $29 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at select Saks Fifth Avenue stores and also online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A- (dig the colors, texture and consistency, but I wish they were cheaper)
The final countdown!
Less than eight hours until the The Hunger Games midnight show, and I. Can’t. Wait!
Poor El Hub… He’s such a trooper! He has to go to work at the crack of dawn tomorrow, but he still agreed to go to the movie with me tonight (yup, Tabs flaked).
Now that I think about it, the last time El Hub stayed out past 2 a.m. was probably at my 30th birthday party, which my parents hosted at a Filipino drag queen bar/restaurant/karaoke joint.
Dang, that was fun. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

From here I can’t see much difference between them, but they look truly flattering on you. I love your top, too!

These look like glosses that would make more of a difference layered over lipsticks.
Keep us posted about how you like the movie! I heard it’s good, but I won’t get to see it till Sunday (the earliest)! And dang, that birthday party your parents threw for you sounds like FUN!
