Okay, so I don’t quite get the alligator/reptilian pattern on the pans (gives me the heebie-jeebies and the urge to moisturize my shins!), but I do get a good bargain-hunting vibe from Sonia Kashuk’s new $12.99 Chic Luminosity Duos.
Each of the three Duos in petal pink Glow, warm coral Glisten and rosy nude Glimmer comes with a blush and bronzer; the formulas remind me of some of the powder/cream/gel products we’ve seen from Estée Lauder and Chanel over the past couple of years.
Glisten, the warm coral I’ve been wearing off and on since last weekend, looks just like one of Estée Lauder’s Ilumminating Powder Gelee Highlighters and Blushes, which usually cost between $40-50.
And like the Gelees, it illuminates cheeks with a refined, glimmering finish that softens the appearance of pores and fine lines, almost like a 1940s powderpuff lens.
Glisten houses a warm-toned coral sheen and a pearly, golden, orangey tan bronzer.
I tried using the bronzer once to contour my cheekbones, but I thought the outcome looked a little unnatural on me, perhaps on account of the shimmery finish and orange undertones. Since then, I’ve been using both the blush and bronzer shades as blushes and liking my results. I’ve been layering them on my cheeks for a bronzed beach babe look.
I thought that maybe Glisten wouldn’t get along with my cheeks because of how dry they’ve been lately, but no problems there. I expected it might emphasize any flakes or dry patches, but nope. Glisten has held its own just fine.
These claim to last 12 hours without fading, but I’ve gotten from 6-8, which still isn’t bad, as long as I keep my hands away from my face. If for any reason I fiddle with or rub my cheeks, I’ve noticed that my fingers come away with some of the product.
Just something to think about, but not necessarily a deal-breaker for me.

So, so funny, babe! When I came downstairs to make breakfast this morning El Hub was in a huff. Apparently he’d read an article (from yesterday) about how the actor who plays Rick Grimes on The Walking Dead suddenly quit the show over creative differences.
El Hub then went on a 15-minute rant about how it was going to ruin the series, “Why can’t they just leave well enough alone!?” and “jumping sharks!” and whatnot, LOL! I was barely awake and only semi-functional, so I just let him vent and grumbled in agreement every so often.
I’d just finished breakfast when El Hub, who was still fuming over the article, quietly said, “Oh…I guess it was an April Fool’s joke.”
Wha!? 🙂 I laughed so hard that coffee came out of my nose!
Hahaha!
You have a good one today, okay? I’m hangin’ in there if you are.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I’m glad I didn’t fall for any April Fools pranks! I was on my toes. Plus people at the business school aren’t fun enough to play any.
The blush is pretty! There’s a Sonia Kashuk cream bronzer that came out this season that I’m dying to get.

This looks really pretty on you. I’m thinking I will pass. My pale skin looks better with cooler tone lighter bronzers. Any suggestions?

I’ve been waiting ever impatiently to see these in store. These and the highlighting sticks are my top priority from this season’s SK line. I can use lightly shimmered…pearled?…bronzers to contour, but definitely not the Illuminating one from SK. I have the full-size that matches these duos and can also only use it for a bronzed summer look.

Oooh, so these are gelees too! Now that makes it even more exciting! I love duos like these, somehow the pink goes so well with bronzers and the texture is just so cool! I’m really digging your pics too, you look lovely summery and fresh!

HAHA! They do kind of have that baked earth vibe, don’t they? I didn’t notice it the first time and thought more of crocodile shoes/purses. I still think it’s cool but now I’ll be thinking “moisturize!”. 🙂
Oh, poor El Hub. That makes your April Fool’s post even more awesome. It was convincing and a feel-good story so, even if people were fooled, it was in a good-natured way. 🙂

I love the colors! I agree, the texture is a no go. I bet the bronzed would
Work as an eyeshadow too!

It looks lovely on you! What a pretty blush for tanned complexions!

The shades are beautiful and they look great on you. Saldy, I don’t think the bronzer would work well on my pale skin.
TJ says
I have my own standbys for bronzer, but this combo is going to have me down at the red dot boutique.
Kim says
I am creeped out by the reptile texture too! I still broke down and bought the moroccan dunes eyeshadow palette because the colors are gorgeous!
Sabina says
Those look so pretty! I have been eyeing that exact combo at my Target for months now. Might be time to finally go get it!
ReneeP says
I am thinking of buying this for using as an eyeshadow!
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
Seems like it has a great texture but the bronzey shade is just too orangey for my taste. Still, I am super excited about some of the other items from this collection!! 🙂

LOL your husband is so funny.

Very pretty on you! Not bad for a drug store brand!
