Dear Easter Bunny,
Please disregard my previous Easter basket request for Cadbury Mini Eggs, Marshallow Peeps, Jordan Almonds, Sour Patch Kids and Mini Snickers. Instead, I’d like to revise my previous note to only request a Rouge Bunny Rouge Long-lasting Matte Eye Shadow ($35 each).
Yup, you read that correctly. No candy whatsoever. Just eyeshadow.
I realize that this unorthodox request breaks our 36-year sugar-fueled tradition — and you know how much I love Easter candy, yummo! — but my muffin top has threatened to advance its plans to expand if I don’t lay off the sweets. To that end, the Rouge Bunny Rouge Eye Shadows are just so wonderful and calorie-free.
I wore Sweet Dust Seriema, a cool-toned mauve taupe, pretty much all weekend long. It’s one of six shades in the line, and my goodness! — smoother and softer than the downy feathers of a newborn chick.
After running five miles yesterday (on my muffin top’s advice) and cleaning up, I applied a few layers of this semi-opaque shadow on my lids for a sophisticated, classic red carpet look with a smidgen of sultry.
Or at least that’s the way I like to think it looks. 🙂
And the best part? It was so darn simple — one color, one brush, no fallout, BAM! I just concentrated the color along my lash lines and faded it toward the brow bone.
Long-lasting Matt Eye Shadow in Sweet Dust Seriema; one of six shades, $35 each
Later in the evening, as I was getting ready to remove my makeup with my trusty MAC Cleanse Off Oil, I observed that with the exception of some very minor fading, Seriema looked exactly like it did when I applied it eight hours earlier.
Rumor has it that you and the Easter Bunny are really good friends. I heard through the grape vine, aka the Tooth Fairy, that you guys are on the same bowling team. Well, if you wouldn’t mind, could you put in a good word for me? Like I said up top, I’d really like to trade my Easter candy this year for a pink pan of Bashful Flamingo or Chestnut-napped Apalis. I figure it couldn’t hurt to ask.
Rouge Bunny Rouge Long-Lasting Matte Eyeshadow
- Available in six shades
- Papyrus Canary (a semi-opaque pale beige)
- Grey Go-away Lourie (a semi-opaque smoky slate gray)
- Blackpepper Jay (a semi-opaque smokey blackish brown)
- Sweet Dust Seriema (a semi-opaque cool mauve taupe)
- Bashful Flamingo (a semi-opaque pale pink)
- Chestnut-napped Apalis (a semi-opaque chestnut with a hint of cocoa)
- Each pan of Rouge Bunny Rouge Matte Eyeshadow comes with 2.4 grams of product, which breaks down to $15 per gram, which is super pricey (By comparison, NARS eyeshadow singles cost $10.90 per gram, MAC shadows work out to $9.37 per gram, and Sunday Riley shadows work out to $5.61 per gram.)
- They sure are expensive, but these bunnies didn’t spare a single detail — from the boxes to the packaging to the textures, color, wear time and overall performance. Flawless across the board.

MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A (they sure are expensive, but oh, so good!)
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Hope your week got off to a good start. It’s hard to believe it’s already the last week of March. I had a pretty good day, even though it rained from dawn till dusk, because El Hub took the day off from work, so I had both of my boys with me, which is always nice. 🙂
What did you do tonight? I’m just taking it easy, re-reading Mocking Jay.

It’s PERFECT. I need to get more RBR in my life!

Hi Jess Lee,
Oh, sounds beautiful! What are the colors you ordered like?
Jess Lee says
kekekeke…both have metallic/frosty finishes…
the first one is like a cool coral-ish pink, while the second one is more golden-honey and coppery toned
they look and feel great! xox
Karen says
They both sound lovely!
Have you tried their liquid highlighter? I just put on their Sea of Showers one and it’s AMAZING.
BooBooNinja says
Karen, is SDS anything like MAC Copperplate?
Your swatch made me think of Copperplate.
Karen says
Hi BooBooNinja,
It’s like a lighter version of Copperplate.
BooBooNinja says
Thanks so much. Does the texture compare?
Anamika says
it looks amazing on you Karen.
Karen says
Thanks, Anamika. 🙂 Hope you’re having a lovely Tuesday.
Kim says
Very pretty!
I really liked HG the movie, too. The head’s up on Rue was very helpful since I wouldn’t have thought of it and would have been tissue-less. 🙂 Did everyone jump out of their seats when the mutt came out at Peeta? Our whole theater did and with a couple of screams thrown in for good measure. HAHA!
Karen says
Hi Kim,
Eek! I actually went back on Sunday night to watch it a second time. The scene right after Rue (when Katniss looks back and does the signal)…I totally got teary eyed. AGAIN.
And LOL, yes, during the mutt scene the guy next to me totally jumped out of his seat and got popcorn everywhere.
Did the boys enjoy the flick?
Kim says
I know – I love it that you went again! 🙂
That is too funny about the popcorn. Even the Hubs said he jumped – and he’s cool as a cucumber about stuff like that. We actually went with my ghost-loving friend, her fella and their 16 year old son. I wasn’t sure how it was going to be, so we left the boys at home. I think they might have been a little scared. Last night one of them came down to ask if he could keep the hall light on (we’d been watching Angel). Poor, little guy – sometimes it’s hard to say what they’ll be afraid of.
Nina says
The color is pretty but … uhm … the price isnt. LOL.
Karen says
Hey Nina,
Yeah, I know. I think a big part of it is because it’s from across the pond. It’s such a gorgeous shadow, though!
How are your allergies doing? I hope they’ve let up a little!
Nina says
not really! im still suffering. this is the worst ive had in a while …
yeah i kind figured that the import thing plays a role in the price … it is gorgeous …
jumana says
very nice,
i really like it.
i like long lasting make up especially the eyeshadow
Karen says
Hi Jumana,
Me too!
Joyce says
Sweet Dust Seriema reminds me of Maybelline’s Tough as Taupe cream eyeshadow in powder form, though Sweet Dust Seriema looks slightly lighter. Regardless, it looks lovely on you. <3
Karen says
Hi Joyce,
Thanks! Have you tried Rouge Bunny Rouge before?
corallista says
Sounds great! The shade reminds me of MAC eye shadow Quarry!
Karen says
Hey Corallista,
Yah, it’s kinda like that!
Sabah says
Oh Karen! You look gorgeous! How do you manage to look so glowy always!?! And what foundation are you wearing? Your skin looks perfect! Love love 😀
Karen says
Thanks, Sabah. That’s the makeup doing it’s work! I’m wearing a bunch of things: Laura Mercier Oil-Free Foundation, MAC Strobe Cream, Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, MAC Pro Longwear Concealer and Tarte Pressed Powder.
shannon says
looks great on you! i really want to fall in love with eye shadow again:(
i like grey/neutrals, any suggestions?
Karen says
Hi Shannon,
Aww, what happened? Why did you fall out of love with eyeshadow?
Cindy (Prime Beauty) says
Love RBR haven’t tried the matte eye shadows though. Eveything they make is fab!
Ramblingdoll says
Dear Karen, I have been in love with RBR for 3 years now and own tons of stuff from them. I think I’ve never ever been disappointed by them so far, I love everything from the packaging to the product, EVERYTHING! Their skincare is way too expensive but really really great, their primers are great, the color payoff is amazing. With your gorgeous skintone, you must absolutely try the following eyeshadows : Abyssinian Catbird (how could you miss that one anyway??), Delicate Hummingbird, Bejewelled Skylark and Mysterious Tinamou. Try the Original Skin Blush in “Orphelineâ€, the color looks crazy in the pan but believe me, it is buildable and amazing on the cheeks. And the staying power is great. You must get one of their Devotion Inks, the one in “Tiger Eye Essence†will look truly amazing on you, you will love the “Word of Mouth†Colour Burst Lipstick and give a try to one of the Decadent Duos (liquid blush on one end and matching gloss on the other), I have them all and these are the best non greasy creamy liquid blushes I have ever tried in my life. Needless to say I’m hooked!!! From what I’m reading here, I guess it’s your turn now hehe ;-))
