Soap and Glory Off Your Face Cleansing Cloths: Watch Out, Waterproof!
Thu, 10/29/2009 by Karen | Posted in: Drugstore Beauty Finds, Product Reviews, Skin Care

Greetings and good morning, girls.
How did you sleep? Following yesterday’s makeup look, I wanted to touch on makeup removal, particularly Soap & Glory’s Off Your Face Cleansing Cloths ($7 for a pack of 25).
To find out how these oversized, velvet-soft wipes fare against long-wearing and waterproof makeup like MAC Fluidline, Stila Lash Visor Mascara and Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter liner, I put ‘em to the test.
What about the waterline?
Most makeup wipes can handle regular-wear products, but many struggle when it comes to removing waterproof. That, and some take too much effort (read: rubbing) to use along my delicate waterline.
Soap & Glory says they created Off Your Face Cleansing Cloths to help women multitask, with the wipes cleansing, toning, removing makeup and exfoliating in one fell swoop.
How’d they do?
Answer: I think they did very well.
These wipes work overtime! You know how after you use some wipes you feel like you have to rinse? Like they’ve left a residue? I don’t feel that way after using Off Your Face.
After wiping down with one of these (usually while I’m watching bad reality TV), my face and neck feel squeaky clean and residue-free — soft, but not tight — more like I’ve just finished using a liquid makeup remover and cleanser than a cloth.
What else I like…
- The fresh scent (kinda minty floral)
- The thoughtful flip-top cap (keeps the wipes from drying out once the package has been opened)
- The uber-affordable price
If only they came in bulk!
Other than my desire to see these sold in packs of 1,000 at Tar-ghay, I think these wipes are effin’ rockstars. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Have you tried the CVS house brand of anti-aging wipes? They’re about $5 for 36 and work really well.

They sounds great to me. I don’t use waterproof products but hey from time to time I like to have a dramatic makeup so I think it would be a good time to test these ones. Also they might be perfect to take them with me in a vacation

I love using wipes, I even tried baby wipes – but don’t do it! They are definitely not as moist. Can’t wait to check these out for myself.

I don’t think I can get my hands on these cleansing cloths until March 2010! This is one of the few reasons why I hate living in Canada but… atleast we have Poutines! Maybe I’ll just order them online if I’m desperate enough

These seem to rock the world…I’ve only used Ponds and Johnsons before, the later working pretty well. Even MAC’s wipes aren’t good for waterproof makeup! But then again, when I wash my face, I wash it really well no matter what time it is…I don’t really use wipes, unless I’m on vay-cay at the beach, then they come in handy!

The packaging is so cute! I have been using MAC wipes and this Japanese brand from a $2 Japanese store, but I would definitely try Soap and Glory when I visit the states.

Very cool! I’ve been looking for a new brand of wipes, since all the others I’ve tried seem to dry out/irritate my sensitive skin, so I’ll have to give these a shot!

Thanks for the review Karen! I might try these. Love the retro packaging. But honestly I love my Kirkland brand makeup wipes from Costco. They are like $12 for 150.
10. Karen said, on October 29th, 2009:
Hi DoDe,
I’ll look for those next time I head to Costco.
I hope they work for me too!
11. Karen said, on October 29th, 2009:
Hi Trude,
I have sensitive skin too. Which ones did you not like?
12. Karen said, on October 29th, 2009:
Hi Amy,
Do you visit the US often? I’ve been to Canada once, waaay back when I was a kid!
13. Karen said, on October 29th, 2009:
Hi Marce,
Oh, I LOVE bringing wipes to the beach. One thing I like to do: put a few in a plastic baggie and throw it in the cooler. It keeps the wipes cool, so when I clean up at the end of the day it feels sooo good against my skin!
14. Karen said, on October 29th, 2009:
Hi Ashley,
What are Poutines?!?
15. Karen said, on October 29th, 2009:
Hi Babybubblz,
LOL, I used to use baby wipes when I was in theater! They do the job okay for the price.
16. Karen said, on October 29th, 2009:
Hi Tavia,
I love ‘em! I hope you try them.
17. Karen said, on October 29th, 2009:
Hi Kelly,
Nope. I like the price though! I’ll see if I can find ‘em…

Hi Kajal Couture,
Yes, totally! Everything they make is just so darn cute.
19. Rebecca said, on October 29th, 2009:
These sound awesome! I’m always on the lookout for a good waterproof makeup remover, especially come winter/spring, when it gets snowy/rainy. And why doesn’t everything have packaging this cute? I wouldn’t mind buying anything if it looked like this!

If only I could truly introduce you to the Poutine. If you’re a gravy & fries kinda gal, you are sure to love it! A real poutine consists of fries with the potato skin, cheese curds ontop & AMAZING gravy all over. You could try making it at home but it will never be as good as the food joints that are known for this infamous snack food
Great, now I crave me a poutine!

I’m gonna buy these a little later today & give em a try! I’m so excited because I’ve yet to come across a cleansing cloth that has removed my makeup without drying out my skin. Thank you for this great review!
The A+ grade seals the deal for me! I’ve gotta try them now!
22. heather said, on October 29th, 2009:
So would you say that these are the best cleansing wipes you have tried?
23. Karen said, on October 29th, 2009:
Hi Heather,
Hmm, probably top three!
24. Karen said, on October 29th, 2009:
Hi Megan ****,
I hope they work for you. I really love them!
25. Karen said, on October 29th, 2009:
Hi Ashley,
I am indeed a gravy and fries girl! I love all things involving fried potatoes, ha ha ha!
I wonder if I can find one here in the Bay Area… now the hunt begins!

Hi Karen, I’m thinking of buying the makeup wipes from MAC since they’re amazing when I remove swatches at the store, but these are much cheaper. How would you compare these two?..

The packaging is really cute! I like to use Costco brand (Kirkland LOL) baby wipes to quickly remove makeup.
What bad reality tv show did you watch? Do you watch Flipping Out? I love that show!
29. Karen said, on October 29th, 2009:
Hi T,
I am ashamed to admit I like the teeny boppery ones on MTV. Right now I’m into The City and Real World/Road Rules: The Ruins. When I watch them I swear my brain melts, ha ha!
Is Flipping Out on HGTV?
30. Karen said, on October 29th, 2009:
Hi Livia,
I love them both. I kinda like these a little more because they are softer, though, especially along the waterline.

I love those! I used to leave em at my boyfriends house as an alternative to my regular face wash. They really come in handy and do a good job removing makeup. You don’t have to use more than 1 like with other facial wipes where you end up using more. I’m also in love with Soap & Glory’s Dr. Spot! I read about Dr. Spot in I believe Glamour Magazine and went nuts trying to find it and I’m telling you that’s the next thing you gotta try from them. Soap & Glory is quickly becoming one of my new favorite brands.

Karen no Flipping Out is on Bravo TV I believe. It’s about this OCD guy who loves to flip homes for a living, but since the economy has been down he does remodeling jobs. There’s a maid, his various assistants and his clients and they’re all hilarious.
