JK Jemma Kidd Signature Shadows on eyes and Air Kiss Duo Lipgloss in Rendezvous on lips
Don’t you love a bargain? JK Jemma Kidd cranks out a lot of ’em, but if the brand’s new $9.99 JK Signature Shadows and JK Air Kiss Duo had the word “bargain” stamped across the front of their packaging, it would be in very, very sheer ink.
I spotted these a couple weeks ago and was immediately reminded of MAC.
At first glance, don’t the powdered eyeshadows in the Signature Shadow palette look kinda like the colors in the MAC Royal Assets Warm Eyes Palette (Antiquitease Collection)? And Sassy, the pink Air Kiss gloss, looks a little like MAC Nymphette Lipglass, while Rendezvous, a shimmery plummy taupe, looks like it could be MAC Spite’s sparkly cousin.
I thought, “$10 dupes for MAC!?” But, alas, Jemma was just Kidd-ing with these colors. I definitely think these are lovely in their own softly understated way, but if you’re on the market for MAC-like pigments, these may not be what you’re looking for.
The Signature Shadows
Backstage (a shimmery gray) and Vintage (a shimmery peachy bronze) steal the show for me when it comes to this palette. I find them easy to blend, and I think they boast the most pigment among the shades. You might want to use an eyeshadow brush with dense bristles to apply them, maybe one like the MAC 239, and some of the colors — the metallic gold Vogue and shimmery white Elle come to mind — suffer from pretty significant fallout.
The Air Kiss Duo
These smooth, (also) sheer, non-sticky glosses feel like nothing on my lips and have a deliciously yummy orange scent (they are unflavored though). It’s a good thing they’re so easy to tote around, though, because they don’t last long. I’ve been having to do touch-ups every hour or so.
Signature Shadows, top row: I-Design Eye Color in 02 Vogue, I-Design Eye Colour in 06 Vanity Fair, Exclusive Shadow in Aubergine Shimmer; Bottom row: I-Design Eye Colour in 01 Elle, I-Design Eye Colour in 03 Vintage, I-Design Eye Color in 09 Backstage
Sassy (top) and Rendezvous (bottom)
Swatches from left: Eyeshadows in Vogue, Vanity Fair, Aubergine Shimmer, Elle, Vintage and Backstage; Lipglosses in Sassy and Rendezvous
Sassy
Rendezvous
If you prefer rich pigments, then you may want to pass on these sheer shades, but I can see how bargain hunters who love natural looks would think these are swell.
PRICE: $9.99 each

Weird… the top row of shadows and the Rendezvous lippy are dead on dupes for the Victoria’s Secret face case for light skin tones (minus blush) … which I wore today. 🙂

Hi Molly,
What a coincidence. 🙂 I’m betting this would also look pretty on lighter skin…
How was your day? Good, I hope!

p.s. Except the deep purple is less magenta.. which I would like, I have to say.

Omg that palette is cute!! Reminds me of MAC holiday palettes.

This pallet actually looks really nice and I’m sort of a fan of sheer (highly pigmented makes me look like a clown since I’m a bad applier). I’m not in the market for more shadow right now, but I’ll have to keep JK in mind.

that palette also reminds me of a 2009 holiday palette that i cannot remember the name of!
i think i want both the palette and the gloss set! 🙂

Vintage looks a whole lot like Urban Decay Sin, but yeah, I can see what you mean about the shadow and lip pigments not really delivering.
