I’m so glad I picked up the Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Cuticle and Nail Moisture Treatment Pen ($6) on a run to Target a couple weeks ago. It basically does the same thing as the Sephora Cuticle Pen I’ve been using (and liking) but for half the price.
Like the Sephora doohickey, it’s a clicker pen filled with an oil for softening and moisturizing cuticles, and it totally works.
How about making nails grow faster?
Not that I can see, but I probably haven’t been using it long enough to tell.
The oil dries fast, which is cool because I don’t need to be walking around with greasy fingers, and I dig the light almond scent.
The only thing I wish I could change is the brush… Sephora’s is stiffer than the brush that comes with Sally’s, and I think it makes that one a little easier to work the oil into the cuticle. It’s not a deal breaker, though, because the price ($6) is totally right.
I tend to go through cuticle pens like they’re going out of style, and if I can get two Sally Hansen ones for $12, 🙂 that deserves a big YAY for saving moolah! Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

This looks nice – I have terrible cuticles and hang nails, but I actually would NOT want my nails to grow faster. My hair and nails grow ridiculously fast, requiring cutting very frequently, which is a pain in the booty! 🙂 I will probably try this one out anyway when my sephora one runs out.

I tried this cuticle pen, and while it was super-convenient, I found the oil a little thin and not as moisturizing as I would have liked! My favorite drugstore cuticle-helpers are:
1, Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream – in its little tin it’s not as convenient and it doesn’t sink in as fast, but I love using it at bedtime and letting it sink in overnight)
2. Curel Targeted Therapy Fast-Absorbing Hand & Cuticle Cream – a ridiculously long name for a really terrific hand cream that also does a great job with cuticles! I keep it on my desk!

Ohhh, fancy! I have decent cuticles, but I’m looking for something to make my nails grow faster. I had my acrylics removed a few weeks ago (ow!) and now my nails are all bumpy 🙁

This pen has my name on it. Maybe it will help with the nasty hang nails that plague me too. Thats the side effect of being the resident dish washer in this household! LOL!!!

I’ve been using the sally hansen cuticle pen for a while and I must say that I am in love as well! I have never know it to actually make my nails grow faster, but it is worth it for the repair it does to my ragged, wintry cuticles.

Ooh! This sounds great — especially with the cold Canadian winters! We could all use a little cuticle hydration if you ask me. I’ll be keeping an eye out for it 😉

I wouldn’t have thought of using the brush to work the oil in– I just use the Sally Hansen pen to get a nice light coat of oil on my nail and then rub it in with my thumb. I think that heats it up a little and helps the oil absorb, and the micro-massage get some extra circulation going.

This is one of my staples. My cuticles tend to get a little (ok, a lot) ragged because I’ve been known to pick at them. If I can keep them moisturized and looking good, then I won’t pick at them. This is easy to carry around and use at my desk, on the metro, wherever. I do use the Badger Balm Lemon Butter Cream as well because I just love the smell and it is a heavier product for those really dry days.

thanks for this review – i love the Sephora one, but the price is high for what it is and wondered if there was a drugstore product that performed as well.

This is the greatest nail product ever. I’ve been using it for quite some time now and I don’t leave home without it. Even without a manicure….a quick handwash and some of this miracle oil and it looks like you just got a manicure!

Your post came right on time. My cuticles have been so ragged and nothing seemed to be working. I popped into CVS and grabbed this and I like it!

LADIES, this pen is THE TRUTH! I first picked it up about a year ago at duane reade, while browsing throught the makeup and nail section. I decided to try it out because my cuticles look horrendus during the winter months, and I get hangnails like if I work construction instead of reception lol. After one use, my cuticles were hydrated and smooth! Even my boyfriend would use it. It lasted me about 2-3 months, as I would use it every other day. Thanks for this Karen, I’m gonna have to pick it up today!!

Hands down, the BEST hand cream for cuticles is the Lady Soma Skin and Nail Treatment ,It’s great for those who like to change up their nail polish but hate stripped & brittle nails. It keeps my nails firm & in good shape. I swear, my it makes my nails grow faster. The cream itself is relatively lightweight and sinks right in with a lovely fragrance. I’ll put it on my hands (and nails) at night, and they stay moisturized through the next day. I also wash my hands A LOT, and this saves them from hard water and winter weather. I’m young, so I can’t comment on its anti-aging properties, but I do believe this will keep my hands looking young, too. amazing!
