Oh, for the love of roses!
Apparently, along with the recent revelation that I’m more than willing to “Mrs. Robinson” Nick Jonas, I’ve also realized that I’m going to need more makeup storage space for MOAR RBR BLUSHES.
Are you familiar with RBR’s $29 Original Skin Blush For Love of Roses powder blushes from their permanent line?
Um…kinda phenomenal! Like, so phenomenal that they make Chanel Malice shake in its go-go boots. Like, you could go months before wanting to wear anything else.
I’d never tried them before, but I finally got around to it this week, and I’m so glad I did.
I mean, yeah, if you’re going for ’80s-style unblended blush racing stripes down the sides of your face, these probably aren’t the best blushes for that; however, if you want natural-looking cheeks to go with your Victoria’s Secret angel wings and hair, you’ve come to the right place.
The name “Original Skin” is totally apt. Think hot cheeks after boom-chicka-wah-wah, if you know what I’m sayin’.
Come on, don’t make me spell it out. 🙂 This is a family show.
The way these fine powders bind to skin is almost hypnotic. They cling so close that it’s hard to tell where your skin begins and the powder ends. At first glance, you don’t even realize it’s there, and then you do and you’re like YES.
And the flawless finishes will have people wondering if homegirl actually wakes up like that. The mattes border on satins (so they aren’t too stark), and the sheens lovingly do not invite all of the pores in the neighborhood out to play.
The Original Skin Blush for Love of Roses blushes are available in five shades. Orpheline, a warm strawberry, has a hint of a sheen. She loves warm-toned medium skin.
Habanera, a slightly rosy terra cotta, is another one to consider if you like warm shades (also good for medium skin tones).
Lighter lovelies might like cool-toned rosy mauve Gracilis or Starina, a pale coral, while Delicata, the fifth shade, is a nude rosy beige with hints of peach that should work well for most everyone.
PRICE: $28 for a 0.123-oz. pan
AVAILABILITY: Permanent, available now at rougebunnyrouge.com and select boutiques nationwide
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A- (an A if they came in a wider range of colors)

I have Orpheline and really really REALLY like it! I also have Florita, which is a beautiful raspberry pink that RBR for some reason decided to discontinue! I keep hoping they’ll add more slightly brighter shades to the line-up, but so far no luck!

“Mrs. Robinson Nick Jonas” 😀
Karen, you crack me up!
I have the same problem, but reversed. I was watching the trailer for Kingsmen and my sister was all over the young protagonist. She leans over and asks me, “Isn’t he so handsome?”
I said yes, but didn’t clarify that I meant Colin Firth 😉
Habanera looks soooo pretty!

I like these blushes but your description made me think of the bridge of Lonely Islands “Golden Rule”. Now all I can think of is the whole scene on the bus.

Habanera is calling out to me! I have been lured into placing an order so many many times but haven’t yet! One day! 🙂

Can I have all of these, please? I think Habanera is my favorite!

I like ’em all on you, but Habanera is probably my favorite 🙂

Oh, I think them’s some fighting words! HAHA! Actually, I’m getting a Malice vibe from Orpheline so I’m sure you’re right, as always! RBR always looks beautiful in your swatches and FOTDs but I haven’t seen any in real life yet. I’m sure it’s just a matter of time. And, I can’t believe I forgot to say TGIF. I think it’s neon and blinking HARD on this Friday. 🙂
PS Too funny on the Mrs. Robinson. I had that moment watching Theo James in Divergent. 🙂

I fell down the RBR rabbit hole about two years ago. Since then I’ve been kind of neglecting the eye shadows in my collection from a certain famous, French designer. The texture and pigment of RBR shadows is divine. I suppose it’s only time before I try one of these gorgeous blushes. I really do wish there was a counter nearby so I could have instant gratification, instead of waiting for my shipment.

The name Starina just makes me think of Nathan Lane’s character in The Birdcage. 😉 These look lovely, maybe I’ll pick one up in two years when my Kat Von D one finally hits pan! 😀

i’ve got orpheline, and really like it. but not as much as i like the rbr eyeshadows. now those are otherworldly. *rolls eyes to the heavens*

They do look incredibly natural, especially Habanera!

I have to confess, I love these so much I bought 4 of the colors. They just go on so well on my skin and look so good, how could I not? Even with my light skin I can make Orpheline and Florita work. 🙂
