If there was an award for “Most Likely to Spill a Loose Eyeshadow All Over the Freaking Place,” I’d be a frontrunner to win it, for sure.
How many spills are we talking about here? According to my eighth-grade self, “2many2say4u.” LOL!
Oh, my poor counters, carpet and cat…
I don’t even get too worked up about it anymore. At one point I guess I just decided to embrace it as my destiny and accept the inevitability of making a mess whenever loose pigments or glitters are involved. Whenever it happens, I just chalk it up as inevitable, shrug my shoulders and say, “Oops. Oh, well.”
But that was until I met Caress of Mink, a Rouge Bunny Rouge Fire Drops Loose Glitter Pigment ($38).
One of seven shades, this shimmery loose taupe comes in a long, streamlined tube with a wand and a pointy sponge applicator tip. First time I saw it, the tip reminded me of applicators I’d seen before, and I remembered making a mess with those…
Luckily, beyond its similar appearance, I think this one performs much better than those.
But I don’t really know why. It must have something to do with the pigments, which seem a little stickier to me than most, so they adhere to my lids without any fallout, and exhibit very little fading throughout the day.
As for the wand itself? The thing just feels good in my hands.
Everything about Caress of Milk says user friendly to me, and I think it’s just as easy to use as RBR’s Long-Lasting Matte Eyeshadow in Sweet Dust Seriema.
For these pics, I applied it on my lids, crease and lower lash lines with the applicator, and then softened the edges with a domed eyeshadow brush.
Seriously, it’s nice when the makeup practically does all the work for you. 🙂

It’s Wednesday already? That can’t be right…
I wonder what it means to be constantly surprised by how fast time is flying. I do it every week. It seems like I was just counting down the seconds to The Hunger Games premiere.
Speaking of that, have you seen it yet? I’ve heard the next one comes out in November (YES! SHOOT! I guess it’s next November, 2013).
I hope your hump day got off to a good start. So far, so good out here. I’ve crossed a couple things off my to-do list already, which feels nice. One of them involved a ton of perspiration and a Jillian Michaels DVD.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Thanks, Antonia. 🙂

This November? Or next year November? I can hardly wait!
This looks absolutely gorgeous on you!! Someday, it shall be mine!
Karen says
Next year November, 2013. Counting down the days!
Nivedita says
The color is just so lovely because it can be worn absolutely anywhere IMO.
A little digression, how do we use the wet brush technique for eyeshadows that are not loose?
Karen says
Hi Nivedita,
I usually just wet a brush with MAC Fix+ and then swipe it across the pan.
Nivedita says
Wouldn’t a bit of the fixed liquid get absorbed on the shadow cake and form a crust eventually? This is what puzzled me.
Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
Happy hump day, Karen!
The design of this one looks smart, and even for someone who has never tried any loose shadows, I’m willing to give it a go (doesn’t look as intimidating as other pigments). I love the color too!
November? Already??? That’s VERY good!
Karen says
Same to you, Sunny!
You should give this a try. Do you guys get RBR out in your neck of the woods?
Jessica says
That applicator wand looks amazing and easy to use, a detail like that can sell me on a product instantly. As for Wednesdays, they’re the worst for me. Thursday’s are literally the best day of the week for me. Better than Friday even, because I’m so happy Wednesday is over!
Karen says
Hi Jessica,
I know what you mean. I love those little touches that make application that much more easy.
Aww, why are Wednesdays rough for you?
Jessica says
Happy day after Wednesday, Karen!
Wednesdays are so rough because they always end up being 12 hour days, tests always seem to happen on Wed., and every single assignment ever is due! lol It’s not that bad, I just enjoy being a little dramatic about it so it feels less stressful.
Karen says
Hi Jessica,
I’m sure it’s very stressful. That’s a lot to have on your plate, I’m sure. The good thing is that there’s always Thursday to look forward to, right?
Nina says
youre glowing, gorgeous K!!!
Karen says
Thanks, Nina. 🙂 *passes along some tissues and a Zyrtec*
Nina says
thank youuuu! im almost halfway done w/ my current bottle of the costco zyrtec…. i need backup! 🙂
Kim says
Oh, that was funny. I think it would be a photo finish for us in that loose pigment category. I won’t even try any because I know it will be a disaster. 🙂
I agree about the time. It’s crazy how fast it goes by. Btw, Game of Thrones is already back (this Sunday) so it won’t be long before we’re into True Blood again. My Sundays are looking up!
Karen says
YES!!! I am very stoked about the show being back on. Did you see the feature in Entertainment Weekly with Daenerys Targaryen looking all bad ass on the cover? I wonder what’s she’s gonna do with those dragons!
Kim says
I could tell you, but I won’t ruin the surprise. 🙂 I did see the feature, but my cover had John Snow (thankfully looking less slack-jawed than usual). hee hee! I thought the goofy cast picture inside was great, too. I hope it’s as good as last season! I’m actually psyched about the dragons and how they handle it with CGI. I hope they rock. 🙂

I really want to get some RBR products, but the cost is preventing me from pulling the trigger <–says the girl who just bought a Dior palette for $75. HA! I went to the Hunger Games on Friday night (along with my whole town it seemed) and I can't stop thinking about it…I'm not disappointed, per se…just….gah! They left so much out. Important things….things I loved from the book. Oh, well. I do think the makers assumed that the watcher had read the book, though, don't you? I def wouldn't have understood half of what was going on had I not read the book.
Karen says
I know what you mean. I read an interview with the director and he mentioned that they had to omit and condense certain things in order to get everything in within the time limit. I’m just happy that they didn’t butcher the story and they stayed overall very true to the spirit of the book.
I’ve heard from people who didn’t read the book that they enjoyed the movie, but I think it’s that much more thrilling when you already have the backstory in your head.
What parts do you wish they added into the movie?
stalkthepostman says
To me, the movie was a lot less….creepy and disturbing. I didn’t get the feeling of desperation and starvation that is part of everyday life in District 12. I mean, when Katniss first walks on the high-speed train jetting to the Capital, there’s a sense of awe at the opulence and lavishness, but we only see her eating ONE SPOONFUL in the train scenes. Over and over, the book speaks of her and Peeta stuffing themselves, eating things they had never eaten or seen before, preparing for potential starvation in the Arena…food is such a central theme, and that just didn’t come through in the film for me.
And how the dogs at the end in the arena are reincarnations of the previously eliminated players….so creepy. But that was left out. Le Sigh. I could go on! LOL. Overall, the movie just made me want to read the books again 🙂 I’ll still be in line for the next one…

It looks really pretty on you!

November 2013 is even worse than finding out The Hobbit doesn’t premiere until December 2012!
Karen says
I know! I really thought it was going to be for this coming Thanksgiving, wah! I wonder who they’re going to cast as Finnick…
Katherine G says
That eyeshadow looks great on you! I also perspired today…did a short run on the treadmill (stormy up here in MD today), a lot of push-ups (real ones), and some of the fitness videos on Comcast On Demand.
I also get loose powder eyeshadow EVERYWHERE, which is probably why I don’t use it very much.
Karen says
Hi Katherine G,
Good job! I love doing push-ups. I always feel so good after I finish a quick set.
Anywho, we’re getting a break in the rain here in the Northern California today, which is nice. I think I’ll go for a quick walk this afternoon. What are you up to for the rest of the day?
Cindy Lartigue says
Hi Karen! The description of the eye shadow is lovely and really caught my attention. However, usually you place a small sample on your wrist so that we can see the product close up. Would it be possible to add that to this?
Thank you – Love & Kisses!
Cindy

I’ve not a lot of success with this kind of packaging mainly because the shadow itself was very loose but this one sounds good. The shade is lovely! I love mink shades on the eyes with red or hot pink lips!
