Good morning on this fine Thursday, ladies. 🙂 I finally got a chance to swatch those Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks ($6) from last week and wanted to share the pics.
After trying three of the 24 members of the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick line ($6 each), I will say I’m impressed.
Rose Blush
Pink Chic
Red Alert
What I like about ’em…
- The light rose taste and scent
- Their smooth texture
- Moisturizing formula
- Medium-to-full color coverage
- Four-hour wear time
- $6 = GOOD DEAL!
- The cute purple packaging
- High shine finish
What I don’t like about ’em…
- The first layer of the lighter shades goes on kinda patchy
- The packaging, while cute, feels flimsy
- Most drugstores don’t allow customers to swatch/test colors before buying
Wearing Rose Blush
Wearing Pink Chic
Wearing Red Alert
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A
Despite the somewhat flimsy packaging and the fact that you might have to layer these lipsticks, they’re winners in my book. Based on price, wear time and their hydrating formula, keep these in mind (a BOGO sale might be a perfect opportunity to stock up!).
You might like Rimmel Moisture Renew if…
- You like the sound of $6
- You like lipsticks with a moisturizing formula
- You’re looking to try some new lipstick shades (24 to choose from!)
- You like a shiny finish

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. With Wednesday behind us, that means we’re over the proverbial hump, ladies! Should be smooth sailing from here… 🙂
Meghan says
ooo i love the pink chic shade! it’s beautiful and you cant beat a $6 price tag!
Karen says
I like that one too. At first I was afraid it was going to look kinda porn star (LOL), but it’s actually kind of sophisticated on.
How’s your
WednesdayThursday going, btw?(I can’t believe I forgot what day it was, ha!)
Sarah says
I have this in “Rose Passion”, which is a really trendy, bright fuschia. It’s my new go-to “go out” lipstick! I get so many compliments on it! Worth every penny of the $6.
Karen says
I will have to put that shade on my list! I’ve got a weakness for bright lip colors so it sounds wonderful.
Do you ever layer it with glitter glosses? I bet that would look hot!
Sarah says
I haven’t paired it with a gloss yet for a couple of reasons. 1) I have really full lips, so it’s easy for them to take over my entire face if they have bright color AND gloss. 2) The Boy doesn’t like “that slimy crap”. I humor him when he’s around.
But I think I’m going to try it with my Sephora Super Shine gloss. The clear one with the sparkles. Eek…now I can’t wait! I should make plans to go out, so I can wear it!
Sarah says
Side note: I like to apply, blot, dot on to create a matte look with it. It increases the staying power!
Glosslizard says
I like drugstore lippies for trying out new colors or for one-time combos, and I’m loving Rimmel right now! I wanted to start trying more of their stuff when I heard Zooey Deschanel was going to be one of their new faces! 🙂
Karen says
Yes, me too!
As I type this I’m testing their new mascara right now… the one in the hot pink tube.
And btw, I loooove Zooey Deschanel!
Veky says
So adoring colors! Love them! 🙂

Karen says
Yeah, these are great for $6!!
lexi says
I LOVE Pink Chic but I think it might be too cool on me. Rose blush may be a safer color for me. I’m just afraid that this might make my lips feel raw and chapped after a day of wear. Too bad I can’t test it out first.
Karen says
You could always try it and if it’s too cool maybe you could try layering a warmer pink liner beneath…
lexi says
yeah you’re right but I still feel like it’s a risk I’m taking even though it is only $6 – but that’s milk money for my baby. Better yet beer money for mommy hahhahaha
Sara says
I have rose blush, and it’s not drying at all. Feels almost like chapstick, which is nice! I really want one of these in a nude color.
Karen says
That’s my favorite shade out of the bunch.
If you find a nude color let me know! I want something that’s peachy-nude.
Sara says
I heard spotlight beige was a good one 🙂
Karen says
Ooh, okay… I’ll write that one down.
Can I just say I love that these are only $6?!? 😀
Karen B says
I really like the price of these 🙂 I’ll have to check these out. Doubting between trying out Rose Blush and Pink Chic.

Karen says
Both are cute… it depends on what you’re in the mood for. Rose Blush is a bit more sophisticated (good for work events). I think Pink Chic is a little more fun and edgy… imagine it with a really hot, sooty smokey eye. Sexy!!
Gabrielle says
I have these in Coral Shimmer, Dreamy, and Rosette. I love Dreamy the most, it gives the perfect nude-pinky shimmer. After seeing your swatch, I really want Rose Blush now. My fave thing about them is how moisturizing they are!
Karen says
How are you liking the Coral Shimmer?
Gabrielle says
I love it! You have to apply three coats to get the coral, though. It also gives a pretty gold shimmer which I love.
Scientific Housewife says
My favorite drugstore lipstick is Revlon but these might be worth a try.
Karen says
I was all about Revlon lipsticks when I was in high school. I went through endless tubes of “Cherries in the Snow.”
Mukho says
Rose blush would have become my favorite color if only I could have laid hands on it. Why oh why cant they come to India? BTW, it seems MUFE is opening an outlet in one of our metros. I read about it on an Indian blogger’s site (http://makeupandbeauty.com/make-up-forever-mufe-is-coming-to-india/)
Karen says
Interesting!
Amy says
^^Ohh, I love Dreamy, too! I was debating about Coral Shimmer, but it was really glittery on my hand so I put it back. Kind of regret it, though.
Karen says
Okay, it looks like Dreamy is next on the list. 🙂
Jay says
I bought dusty rose after I saw your post last week. It’s a nice pinky brown color and very moisturizing. I love the feel of it. I am still looking for a MLBB lipstick 🙂
Karen says
You and me both, hon! I think that’s a never-ending quest. 🙂
Rica says
I love this line of lipsticks! I have one in Nude Delight. It’s very moisturizing, but with my incredibly chap lips, I need some priming first before applying the lipstick.
A lot of them has shimmer in it and I don’t quite like that kind of frosty lipsticks. But Pink Chic looks so interesting, I’m definitely gonna check them out next time when I’m at Walmart =D
.-= Rica’s last blog post… WLC resumes today =-.
Karen says
Nude Delight sounds pretty. Is it more warm or cool?
Rica says
I think it is on the warmer side. It kind of reminds me of the NC foundation shades in MAC (LOL).
Btw, Glee made me cried last night :p

These lipsticks are my fave too…..i have it in rose blush, would love to buy more
Amber says
Fun! I really don’t need new lipstick, but I’m putting these in my ’emergency retail therapy’ mental file. A $6 pick-me-up is guiltless. 🙂

Those are all gorgeous on you! I wish that I could pull off lipstick that easily. Lipsticks usually don’t last very well for me, or they settle into lines on my lips. We’ll see with these!

Rose blush! I think its what I need to chase my blues away this Thursday …. sigh….
Reese says
Hi Karen,
The Red Alert and Pink Chic look so nice on you! I’ve always been curious about these lipsticks,
and I think I’ll give one a go.
vero says
thanks karen, sometimes I need a makeup fix that will still allow me to afford my groceries.
Martha says
I would just like to share with everyone yesterday I bought a lipstick for $1 and it was awesome.
It’s from Wet n Wild, it’s 547B Breeze, it’s a very sheer lightly shimmery beige nude. And it’s $1.
Being so pale that I do glow under a black light bulb, never did I think I could wear a nude lipstick. Until today. And it’s $1.
Hedy says
I’ll have to check that out-thanks!

I will def give these a try! I’ve been using L’oreal Anti aging serum and it’s pretty good, I like the plumping without pain aspect but these colors look more vivid!

I have Vintage Pink and I love it. I bought it when I was looking for pinky nudes and this is pinker then I wanted for that, but just lovely. Looks like Dusty Rose might be another one to check out.
If you are open for another drugstore brand, Maybelline’s Color Sensation in Plaza Pink is a pretty peachy-nude.
Jennifer R says
I discovered Rimmel’s Moisture Renew almost by accident but I love it! I’m a NC20 and I purchased the Spotlight Beige color. What a surprise! It’s absolutely my favorite nude lipstick in my arsenal right now. Close-to-opaque coverage, shiny luster, and just the perfect amount of pink in it to keep me from looking washed out. I’ve since purchase Dusty Rose, but it’s a little dark for what I’m feeling right now. Better wait until fall for that one….
Catherine says
Oooh – Rose Blush is puuuuurdy and these look really nice! Can you comment on how they compare to the discontinued CoverGirl Trushines? I LOVED those. If these are similar in texture I’ll be all over them!

They look lovely – I’ll definitely going to check them out next time I’m at the drugstore
Sakura says
I like Rimmel lipsticks, except for the smell one had when I bought it! The color was great! I think that it was called Goddess. But, it smelled synthetic and sugary. Does this one smell?
Iram says
I have Nude Delight and Vintage Rose which is an amazing colour and looks so natural 🙂 Rose Blush looks quite good too, I’m definitely going to try it!
Nikki says
Love Rose Blush on you! Can you recommend other drugstore brand lippies similar to this color? Thank you so much! 😀
Elizabeth says
Rose Blush looks beautiful, for 6 bucks you really can’t beat it! I have glamorous pink, its a nice color but not necessarily for my skin tone.
laetitiae says
Love these lipsticks, many shades to choose from. I have it in Vintage Wine, a matt plum brown, very sheer though and moisturizing. I should try some lighter shades, like Rose Blush, that looks so good on you

I bought the “Red Alert” one on a whim (buy one get on 50% off at Ulta), it’s much better than I thought it would be! It’s comparable to “Brave Red” by MAC, but with less shimmer to it. I’ll probably pick up a nude color too one of these days…
