Dagnabbit, Rimmel! Why you gotta keep drawing me in?
The person in charge of packaging over there sure knows how to grab my attention. They did it a few weeks ago with the font on those tubes of Royal Gloss, and now this??
LOVE the crown on these $5 pans of Lasting Finish Blendable Powder Blushes.
Ahh… it’s the little touches that get me every time, especially when we’re talking about budget beauty products and tempered expectations. Here, for a mere five buckaroos, I STILL feel like I’m getting the royal treatment. 🙂
Winter Glow
If you haven’t tried these blushes yet, well, I think you’re in for a treat. I’ve been toying around with three of the eight Lasting Finish blush colors — Berry, Pink Rose and Winter Glow — lately, and now I can’t wait to see more.
All night long
I’ve had some trubs lately with disappearing blushes (ahem, NARS Sin and Cactus Flower!), but these bodacious budget babes totally outlast their pricier competition. Yesterday, I swept Pink Rose on my cheeks first thing at eight, and the color was still true a full 14 hours later! 🙂
Pink Rose
A natural flush
Really, is it safe to expect much from a $5 blush? I admit I didn’t expect a lot. I braced myself for blush that looked chunky and cheap on my cheeks. Even when I swept my blush brush across the cute lil’ crown in the pan, it kicked up large, disconcerting grains of powder.
“Uh, oh,” I thought, but no worries… The product melts into the skin, leaving behind a natural flushed look worth way more than $5.
Of course, Rimmel didn’t go way out on a limb when it comes to the colors in the line. They kept it basic, with a standard selection of browns, berries, pinks and peaches, all with medium pigmentation, and that means nothing as edgy as MAC Dollymix or NARS Exhibit A here (at least not yet).
Berry
Fragile
I think the compact the blushes come in could use a little refining. It feels flimsy to me (the lid wiggles), and I’m afraid they won’t take much jostling about at the bottom of a makeup bag. We’ll see… I’ll be one cranky gal the day one of these opens up!
From left: Winter Glow, Pink Rose
Regardless, I’ll gladly take the risk. 🙂 For $5, the Lasting Finish Blushes are tough to beat, and they’re possibly the best drugstore blushes I’ve seen in a while. What a great way to expand a blush collection without spending an arm and a leg! Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

oh man! I have to run to CVS tomorrow! I love blush. It’s probably one of my most favorite items of make-up. I’ve just rediscovered my Tarte gel blush in “flush” and I’ve been applying it with a foundation brush. Amazing. My other favorite is BE “fruit cocktail.” It’s a shocking pink that looks amazing (I would imagine it looks amazing on most skin colors though I’m medium to fair depending on the season.)
What is your favorite of the new Rimmel blushes?
Maggie says
Rimmel blushes are the bomb diggity! 😀
I have two in their older packaging and I love them. Great way to explore more blushes for such a low price!
I have Pink Rose and Plum, loves them! I want to try those new three strip ones. They look so pretty.

I’ve always wondered about these-I’m so happy about this post! I have the same problem-to make blush last on me I have to put a cream blush on first and then a powder over top. I will be picking up a couple of these tomorrow!

Hi Karen! I was just thinking about buying a new blush…but because I’m saving up for grad studies no more NARS for me! I’m NC40, do you think any of them would be well suited to someone who is tan, I worry about going too cool with my pick. Also, do you think a pink blush looks acceptable with red lips or should red lips be paired with another type of blush?
Sorry for all the questions, just excited about your good review!!

Hi Karen,
Okay so unrelated but I’m just putting in a vote for full feed for RSS readers instead of partial. I read quite a few blogs and it really simplifies things.
Hope you’re having a good evening!

As a brand, I totally take Rimmel for granted. My first lipstick was a Rimmel one when I was about 13 (the shade was Heather Shimmer) and all my friends had the same. I don’t know why, but I left the brand behind as I got older and it was only when I got their Sexy Curves mascara recently (love it!) that I remembered it was there.
Looking at the swatches above and having the MBB seal of approval means I’m going to check these out when I go shopping later today – thanks for the tip!

I’ve seen Rimmel on our counters for years now, but never thought much about the brand. Used some things in high school but I’m really loving the look of these blushes (and those renew lipsticks too!)
Funny thing, but in my country we usually say ‘rimmel’ when referring to mascara, probably because of the brand!

I saw these at CVS last week, and I almost bought one- I loved the little crown too! I might have to run back over there…

I have always only tried Rimmel mascaras and lipglosses and liked them a lot. Haven’t tried their blushes though because none the colours have captured my heart yet. I do love their crown loyal though!

Ooo, big fan of Rimmel lip sticks, in fact Airyfairy is one of my all time favorite “my lips only better” colors. So it’s really cool that this blush is an awesome buy, I think I’ll just trot out to the store tomorrow and get me one (or three!)

Picked one of these suckers up in Spring Catwalk yesterday on my way to a party. At the last second my hubby wouldn’t let me go back home to get ready so I picked on up on the way to freshen my makeup and the color was true for the entire party until I got home. I still have to play with it, because I had to apply it with the cheap brush it came with (ugh). The color is beautiful though…
Karen says
Ooh, what color did you get?
I agree, the brush is pretty useless… I ended up throwing mine out. Try it with a big, fluffy powder blush!
Diana says
Ooh…okay, I tried it again today with a “real” brush. I was mistaken the color is called Autumn Catwalk. It is one of the trio mixes and it is wicked pigmented and I applied it with my MAC 187 brush! I am NC37 and it looks like a fresh vibrant pink flush. I love it!

Rimmel has disappointed me in the past but the products I always like are the powder products!

Rimmel uses the old “Coty” labs. So they their product is very pure.
