Being called cheap and easy are compliments if you’re a bottle of Rimmel Gentle Eye Make Up Remover, $7. It removes all of my eye makeup quicker than you can say “fierce,” and it does it without stinging my pocketbook or my sensitive peepers.
Removes Makeup Without Leaving an Oily Residue
It proved its star budget beauty status last night when I got home from that bridal shower. It was late, and I was completely exhausted. All I wanted to do was crash in bed.
I was tempted to go to sleep without removing my makeup, but I mustered up the energy to give Gentle Eye Make Up Remover a try. I soaked a cotton ball in the unscented, oil-free solution. A few quick swipes later, and my eye makeup was gone. As tired as I was, I figured what the hey and tried it on the rest of my face and lips. It worked just as well there, too, removing everything. It doesn’t even have to be rinsed off with water. My skin felt clean and refreshed, with barely any effort at all. There I’d gone making such a huge deal about having to remove my makeup, grumbling to myself when all I’d wanted to do was crash, but the whole process took less than two minutes.
Removes Waterproof Makeup Too
I did have to bust into the cotton balls a second time to remove my waterproof mascara. Gentle Eye Make Up Remover didn’t struggle a bit with the waterproof liner I was wearing, but it did have some trubs with the waterproof mascara. It may not be as effective on waterproof mascara as oil-based removers like Lancome’s Bi-Facil (but it works well enough in a pinch).

Bridal Shower Hijinks
The bridal shower was a lot of fun. The closest I came to winning a game was 3rd place out of 30 in the “Make a Bridal Gown Out of Toilet Paper” game. Eat your heart out, Vera Wang.
I swear to gawd nothing pervy happened in this picture; it was one of the other games!
Even though the shower was billed as a tea party, there was more than enough fried food to go around. No karaoke, though.
After the shower I paid my parents a visit, and Shauna the dog greeted me with one of her trademark tummy flashes.
I hung out with my folks for a few hours and saw from the full bottles of products in the bathroom that my mom hadn’t used any of the stuff I gave her at the start of the summer.
Maybe she wasn’t using the products I’d gotten because she’d found something she liked even more…
I like the prancing horses on the back of the bottle! And it’s multi-tasking… It works on both your mane AND your tail, LOLOL!
How was your day today? I didn’t do anything, really, just chilled at home.
Hope you had a great Sunday! 🙂

Fried food, yay! I haven’t had egg rolls in ages! You go girl, kick Vera Wang to the curb 🙂 That Rimmel eye makeup remover didn’t work for me because my eyes are deep set and it took a lot of the stuff to remove everything. I prefer the oil and water makeup remover more than this. Have you used Manes and Tails? I’ve heard it keeps your hair really luscious.

Hi Dao,
I like the oil-based removers, too, but sometimes I’m just too lazy to do the rinse off thing. I haven’t tried Mane n’ Tail, but I’m weirdly fascinated by those dual human/animal/horse beauty products!

I’ve been looking for that make up remover for a while but I don’t think they sell it here. Oh well.
Your toilet paper dress looked fierce, and you made me hungry for fried shrimp balls now! 😀

Hi Karen. My mum went to the Philipines (I think Manila) years ago for her honeymoon and she absolutely loves the food there. No wonder, they look yummy!
Almira says
Oh, I see.
With my acne-prone skin, makeup removers are almost a big nono because even after a rinse, it can cause a breakout.
But if this leaves no oily residue, I should try it!
And I’m glad you guys had a good time! =) The toilet paper dresses are hilarious!

Hi Ellery,
That’s too bad! Do you have a favorite eye makeup remover? I go back and forth between several brands… I am currently switching between Rimmel and Clarins.
Can I just say I was soooo kicking myself for not bringing any leftover shrimpballs home after the party? I craved them all weekend long.
Hope you had a good weekend! Didja do anything fun?
Karen says
Hi Mariah,
Yeah, I think the camera loves Shauna! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Miss QQ,
The food is delicious. Most of it isn’t, uh, very healthy so I only eat it when I go to family parties and to my parents’ house. There’s a lot of fried goodness…
Hope you had a great weekend! Do anything fun?
Karen says
Hi Almira,
I have acne-prone skin (hormone related, ugh), too, so I hear ya on being very careful with the products. I don’t think this one irritated my skin at all. It’s very gentle. I hope it works for you!
Karen says
Hi Eru,
The funny thing is that it kept breaking apart when the dress was getting made! I was in danger many time of being gownless!
Ellery says
I mainly use MAC wipes but right now I’m using Korres Milk Proteins wipes. They’re quite good but not as good as MAC!
I hate that! I always try and bring food home from parties, especially sesame prawn toast since that’s like, at every party I go to.
I did nothing! On Saturday it was raining so I looked at holidays online and I’ve decided that next year I’m either going to Dubai, Hawaii, or Jamaica. I’ve never been outside the UK so it’ll be so fun! And then on Sunday… Sundays just always suck.
I hope you had a good one though! 😀

Karen – My mom is convert to the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide mascar. Can you believe it? 🙂 Actually I’ve been impressed most by the fact that she has actually been using some of the makeup brushes I got her! I bought her cheapie ones because I wasn’t sure if she would use them or not…but I love the Essence of beauty ones at CVS anyway.
Oh and btw I may have to pick this make up remover up. Looks like a steal. So btw I only own one tube of waterproof mascara because i detest removing it. Well i do have the clinique one that comes off with warm water…which i love. So the one i have is lash stylist by Maybelline which a friend recommended and swore I had to get the waterproof. So it totally gives crazy fake looking lashes…but you have to practice because it’s a comb and if you’re not careful, it’s easy to put too much on and end up with a big ol clumpy mess. Anyway I had to pull it out for the funeral and it reminded me how much i liked it…but I think i might need to get the regular version because I refuse to wear anything on a regular basis that takes that much effort to get off. 🙁
My weekend was good…i feel like life is trying to get back to normal. My allergies have been going nuts though. Seriously though the last 6 months have just whipped by me.

Oh good! The cleanser that I’m using now doesn’t effectively remover my eyeliner so I’ve been searching for another cleanser that does! Thank goodness you posted this Karen! I’ll have to add this to my ever-growing shopping list! 🙂

Hi Ellery,
I saw those at Sephora a few weeks ago and I was tempted to get them. My friend swears by Korres and I was *this close* to getting the wipes and some glosses. I ended up getting distracted by the Pop Beauty Palettes, LOL. This just gives me the perfect excuse to go back.
Sesame prawn toast sounds delicious! I could do with that right now. *stomach rumbles*
While I am always pulling for people to travel to Hawaii, I think going to Dubai would be very cool as well!

Hey Karen,
Girl, when I was a kid/early teens, before I dicovered the joy of being able to color my hair, I rocked the mane ‘n tail. It was amazing, no lie. It left my hair shiny, shiny, shiny and bouncy to boot! The only reason I don’t use it now is because it would fade my color. Really. Moms know! Love your blog!

You should get them! Korres is amazing, I’ve never tried their lip glosses but the colors are so cute, I saw them on asos.com. They also have quite a few Korres products on sale like eyeliners, lip liners, and lipsticks and they’re as low as £3!
I think Dubai would be really special. I have to wait to see what my bf and bff say though since they’re going with me. 😀
