Every single picture I’ve taken so far today has ended up looking more or less like this…
America’s Next Lloyd Christmas Model?
I know, right? (It’s been a rough day.) Tyra and Ms. J would probably slap the ombre highlights off me if they found out I was still posting spacey pictures of myself on the Internet and not smiling with my eyes.
More photographic evidence…
Lost in the Louvre (but having a great brow day!) circa 2005
Speaking of spacey looks, have you seen the new NARS Nail Polish in Space Odyssey ($17) yet? The Hubble Space Telescope took this shot of it on my paw…
Space Odyssey and the new NARS Larger than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Via Crispi ($23), which I’m wearing in these pics on my lids, rocket onto NARS counters and narscosmetics.com next week in the tiny two-piece Silver Odyssey collection.
Created to celebrate next week’s big Fashion’s Night Out, both limited edition products come equipped with so much silver shimmer that the crew aboard the International Space Station reports that they’re visible from space. 🙂
Alright…that was corny, but it was probably better than what I was gonna say (“I feel like they make my eyes and nails shine like stars.”).
The NARS Silver Odyssey Collection
- Space Odyssey Nail Polish — Two coats of this interstellar silver deliver fully opaque coverage loaded with silver micro-glitter. The only problem? — it takes a really, really long time to dry. We’re talking three hours, at least. MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+
- Via Crispi Eyeliner — Some silver liners, especially ones containing a lot of white, can appear stark against my tan skin. Not Via Crispi though. I think the gray within it makes it wearable by a wider range of women (it’s more of a platinum than a silvery white). Like the other Larger Than Life Eyeliners, it feels smooth, doesn’t skip, and stays put from dawn till dusk. In other news, I think NARS should rename the product, “Viva Crispi Creme.” I’m just sayin’. MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A+
The next time I wear Via Crispi, I think I’m going to try a cat eye, lining my lids with it first, and then using a black liquid liner along my lash line… Might look kinda cute with hot pink on my cheeks and gloss.
NARS fans, if you’ve been scanning the heavens for a sassy silver with serious shine, look for the Silver Odyssey collection when it takes off next week.
NARS Larger Than Life Eyeliner
Ever since NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Bourbon Street ($23) stayed on my water line through a nervous breakdown in San Francisco traffic a few weeks ago, I’ve been meaning to swatch the entire cadre of nine colors.
And here they are (just in case you’re contemplating a color or two or nine). 🙂
NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner Swatches on NC42 Skin
From the left: 1. Rue De Rivoli, 2. Via Appia, 3. Madison Avenue, 4. Bourbon Street, 5. Abbey Road, 6. Rue Bonaparte, 7. Via Veneto, 8. Rue Saint-Honore and 9. Santa Monica Blvd
Have you picked up any of these yet (gray Madison Avenue is calling my name)? They’re available now at NARS counters and also online.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

The liner I could do without but the polish is gorgeous!
Karen says
Yes! It practically glows. 🙂 Are you a NARS fan, Destinee?
Destinee says
Definitely, I cant get enough of their blushes. I want to try the Sheer Glow foundation but I don’t live near a counter and refuse to purchase online without knowing my perfect shade first.
Taffy says
That polish is fine but I don’t know how many more silver foil or micro-glitters I need in my collection. But a 3 hour dry time? That’s insane! Do you use anything to speed up your polish’s dry time?
Karen says
I usually do, but not this time — I wanted to see how long it took to try on its own.
Chris25 says
Both are pretty, but I feel like I’ve seen that polish before. Remember Sally Hansen Chrome n/p back in 2001?
Megan says
Om nom nom. That polish is lovely–does it take three hours to just set, or to harden fully?
And that liner is stunning. It’s such a soft silver! I’m feeling a NARS binge coming on…I see a few liners in my future, as well as the Montego Bay matte lipstick, and the Striptease gloss (they look amazing together! I was so surprised!). Oh, and a few shadows, too.
…I just spent at least 100 dollars.

I really like the silver nailpolish and I can never resist them, especially the high shine foil finishes. Too bad I don’t think i would be able to get my digits on them because I am pretty sure this is an American exclusive for the Fashion Night Out event. It is such a pretty colour, too bad it takes a ridiculously long tie to dry.
Nina says
that nail polish is cuhhhrayyyzeeeeyyy pretty!
Adria says
Love both the eyeliner (although I think I have something similar from Urban Decay- 24/7 Eyeliner in Dime, I think) and the nail polish.
Also, your ring is hella cute.
Now I am off to eat a whole bag of peanut butter M&M, bymyselfthankyou! LOL!
Larie says
Love the liner! That is intense 😀
Sonya says
Ohmygosh.. LOVE it! Both the lacquer and the liner! Unfortunately the dry time scares me away from the polish – who has the time to wait three hours for polish to dry?!
Erin says
Damn, that polish is fierce! But the dry time? NO THANKS.
Gauss says
Very pretty nail polish, but 3 hours?!?! No way. I can’t imagine any 3 hour period where I don’t use my hands.
Crystal says
Oh no thats a long time to have nails that aren’t dry. I was really liking that polish.
Stacey says
The nail polish is super pretty! BUT 3 hrs drying time? I would prob lose patience 1 hour in and wreck it. I might check out the liner though!
Swatch And Learn says
Wow, that polish looks gorgeous! Hmm…it takes that long to dry? I’d just use a fast-drying top coat like Seche Vite – usually dries polish in minutes for me.
Soo says
that nail polish is so bingtastic. really liking it
Jen says
Man, that silver nail polish is gorgeous! I was almost sold on it until I read about the dry time. I do not have three hours to wait around for my nails to dry! Bummer. 🙁
Kim says
SHRIEK! You know I rarely shriek for makeup but I came right out of my chair on your first pic. Silver liner AND polish? I could barely contain myself. I’m disappointed with the dry time but sooooo getting that liner! I have UD’s Gunmetal but it’s a little too dark for me. Viva Crispy Creme, on the other hand, looks dazzlingly spectacular. Can you tell I’m excited? 🙂
ann says
How does the polish compare to Chanel Graphite ?
Christina says
Have you tried Trixie by Zoya? Its also a silver foil but it doesn’t take 3 hours to dry….also have your heard of Orly’s Flash Dry drops? They have saved me from a least a million wrinkles in my polish.

I love NARS and I love this color..but along with everyone else, the three hour dry-time kind of deters me. And the fact that I found a pretty close polish recently. Sonia Kashuk for Target, Smoke & Mirrors, $4.99. Two coats, a fraction of the time it takes the NARS polish to dry.
Again, I am a NARS addict (but considering how accident-prone I am…and BROKE), a trip to Target beats out my obsession.
As always, thanks for the review. Love the photos.
xx

Oooh, so pretty! That’s a shame about the drying time for the polish, though. I am way too klutzy to trust myself with that, lol.
As for the liners, I desperately want to check out Madison Avenue, Abbey Road (both for the color and the name, of course), Rue Bonaparte and Rue Saint-Honore.
Speaking of Abbey Road, I play that album more than any other in the car. It serves as the perfect soundtrack for driving. It’s wonderful (quite possibly my favorite Beatles album), but not super distracting, and I can sing along to every song. People may stare at me at stoplights, but I don’t care. Clearly, they’re just jealous of how much fun I’m having :D.

Sally Hansen does a polish called Celeb City that is an exact dupe of Space Odyssey!
