Oh, NARS Persia…why do you make me think of goofy Jake Gyllenhaal running around the desert half-naked with greasy hair? Or remind me of the kitty who hawks boxes of grilled Fancy Feast?
(Ever notice how Persian cats get most of the best gigs for wet food ads?)
Now, I know why you remind me of MAC Brown Script, a matte, super soft and pigmented reddish, orangey brown.
Brown Script is one of my favorite eyeshadow colors, evah! I love wearing it in the crease, and Persia, a single from the new NARS spring 2013 collection, is like an orangey version.
Hella intense, like several of its siblings from the launch, Persia first struck me as a crease contouring color best for warm-toned gals (and guys), and yes, I think it’s awesome in that capacity, but it also exhibits brightening powers!
Wait — what?
Yup, like the new Bouthan Duo, even though Persia isn’t what I’d normally think of when I think of “eye-opening colors.”
When I apply it on my lids, draw a small amount up into the crease, and finish with a couple coats of mascara (followed by, perhaps, black eyeliner, if I’m feelin’ it), wow. Not bad. 🙂
I think I do look wider awake…
Being quite dark and intense, Persia may be a little easier for gals with medium and darker skin tones to wear, not that pale pretties shouldn’t also give it a try. Applying it with a fluffy, domed eyeshadow brush and a light touch should help.
OOH! — and I can’t wait to see it on blue-eyed babes (I love orangey shades on blue eyes!).
With a redonkulous amount of pigment, a texture like cotton candy, zero fallout and all-day wear time, Persia promises to be one of your next workhorse shades, babe. 🙂

This looks more like a blush in the pan but it looks stunning on your eyes!
I love it with the blue shirt, too.
You should definitely wear this often 🙂

Gorgeous on you ! Très chic with golden earrings and navy shirt.
It reminds me exhibit A or Liberty blushes ?!

Looks lovely on you, but I’m just not a fan of anything orangy on my face.

Oh dear, looks like I’ll have to get it. Like it even more than I though I would, very pretty!

Is there any color you can’t pull off?! 😛

That looks so good on you! I wish I was brave enough to try it.

I am not sure about this color…

I have blue eyes but I don’t think I could pull it off. I love orange/coral eyeshadows but this one seems too much. It looks great on you though.

Persia is definitely one of those shades I find difficult to wear. I like the gold earrings and navy top you paired with it. Thanks for the tips on application, hopefully I can give a similar shade a try soon!

Hi Karen,
happy 2013! This is my first comment here for this year I think.
Wow cool e/s; can double as a blush prolly, ya?

I have to get it coz I’m Persian 😛 Though I’m light medium AND cool skintone (NW25) but I think it can rock it still

You really can pull off any color. Persia looks like a pretty one, and also looks like it could be tough to wear. I’d probably pair it with golds and browns, and maybe even purples! I would probably try it because I love funky colors, and I’m also not afraid of the reds (reds can make it look like I have pinkeye if it’s not quite the right shade).

This color is amazing. I’m afraid it might make me look like I’ve been watching Black Beauty (sob-fest), but it’s so awesome, I’ll have to swatch it! 🙂

It looks like a great color. It looks a lot like Taos minus the shimmer. I generally use this look with Taos and some heavy black or brown liner.
