Philosophy’s Amazing Grace fragrance always makes me feel girly, clean and fresh. It’s a light, soft floral scent with a touch of musk, and many of the Amazing Grace products are among Philosophy’s bestsellers companywide.
Over the years, Philosophy has introduced a host of different body care products in Amazing Grace. I’m a girl who loves her showers (no camping unless there’s running water, yo!), and I’ve tried several of the Amazing Grace scented bath gels, lotions and scrubs. Here are just a few of my favorites!
Don’t be fooled by Perfumed Buffing Wash’s (shown above) girly packaging because it’s no joke. The bottle claims it’s a gentle wash, but I’ve used this stuff to buff the heck out of the roughest parts of the skin on my elbows and feet. Fine exfoliating grains make it a highly effective deep cleanser. $26 for a 16-oz. bottle. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+
All forms of body hair removal annoy me to no end, but I can deal with Perfumed Shave Gel ($15 for a 7 oz tube). It makes the act of shaving almost pleasant, and the gel’s thick, moisturizing texture helps deliver close shaves. I wish it were a bit cheaper, but a little goes a long way. $15 for a 7-oz. tube. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B+
Perfumed Body Spritz is perfect for those hot summer days when you don’t want to wear a heavy fragrance. It’s a moisturizing, lightly scented body mist, and I keep my bottle in the fridge (right next to the ketchup, LOL) for a refreshing, crisp pick-me-up when I’m dying from the heat. $25 for an 8-oz. bottle. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+
Catch a whiff of these Philosophy Amazing Grace products in person at Sephora or Nordstrom stores.
Later this week, I’m taking close looks at each of the three new MAC Mineralize collections that dropped today. Are they worth the hype? I hope so. MAC rarely lets me down. 🙂

You are a girl after my own heart!
One of my students (shes 4) came in every morning smelling AMAZING and sure enough when I asked her mom it was amazing grace! She uses the body lotion on her daughter every morning after her bath! Well of course I had to run to Sephora and get it! that was last Aug and I am on my second bottle! My hubby also loves the scent!!
Looks like I need to get the rest of the collection!
Karen says
Hi KK!
There are so many really great bath products to choose from! I also like the lotion for summer – it’s very light.
LOL, I don’t remember children smelling so fresh/so clean when I was a kid. I wonder if that’s a new thing.
froo-gal says
Oh man! I went through this huge spree of buying a bunch of Philosophy goodies, and I told myself that that was enough – but now, you have enticed me to at least go check out that line! Darn you! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Froogal,
Nice! What did you end up getting? I’m really curious about the foaming Purity Made Simple face wash, but I have a huge bottle that I need to finish first.
I also want some of the Hope in Jar with SPF! AHHH!
TUPRNUT says
I’ve had some samples of the Amazing Grace line in the past but haven’t made the plunge to buy any for myself – yet. I think I’ll wait to use up what I have in the shower and then stock up on a few of these – they smell so lovely.
Hey, I just saw a certain beauty blogger on bellasugar.com! You looked great and at first, I thought I clicked on the wrong website!!! Congrats!
Bridget says
I love Amazing Grace. But I love Pure Grace more.haha They both have their moments for me.
I love that smell of clean and fresh which Pure Grace gives me, and Amazing Grace gives me clean, fresh and a little bit romantic. That’s what I call it, the romantic Pure Grace. Mmmm I’m going to go put some on. 🙂
Oh and I was thinking about it today while putting some makeup on… I’d like to request a post about keeping all of your makeup organized! I know you must have a ton more than I do, and I was wondering how you kept it all.
Karen says
Hi Tuprnut,
I do the same thing with my samples. The Philosophy folks at the counter are really generous with those packets, and I perpetually have a few packets in the shower. 🙂
Awww, thanks! Yup, that was me, LOL. Isn’t her site great? I love all the fun giveaways.
How’s your day been? I’m sooooo ready to get out of work right now.
Karen says
Hi Bridget!
I’ve sniffered Pure Grace, too, and I like it. I think if I ever get over my obsession with Amazing Grace then I’ll give that one a go. 🙂
Oh, I’d love to help. Lemme ask you though, are you thinking about keeping makeup organized for on-the-go travel, or like for every day life?
Bridget says
Every day! I have a lot of little pots of stuff from Bare Escentuals that I don’t know how to keep organized.
I wish they would make Amazing and Pure Grace dryer sheets.
Bridgets last blog post..These are a few of my favorite things…
Karen says
Ahh! Okay! The easiest way I’ve found to get instantly organized is with these three drawer Sterilite organizers. I buy them from Joann when they have coupons in the paper so I can get them on sale.
I like these drawers because they are cheap and easy to clean. They are great for compacts and pots!
One thing that helps is to get a label maker or use painters tape and a sharpie pen to put labels on the outside of the drawers (blush, eyeshadow, etc.). That way you know what’s inside. I also usually store all my compacts and pots upside down, so I can easily read the labels. 🙂

Karen,
I know, Right? Ga, you mean your mom didn’t use $45 body lotion on you when you were 5?!? lol!
The school I teach at is in a super nice part of town….it makes for great teach gifts! 😉
KK says
**teacher** gifts that is!
Karen says
Hi KK,
Oh, so that’s a nice perk of the job, I bet. 🙂 Have you noticed that kids don’t dress like they did back in the day? I see ’em running around looking like mini-adults now. I remember wearing pastels and shirts with rainbows and unicorns and whatnot, and now the kids I see look totally J. Crew-ed out! I think I’m probably just jealous, because they are dressed better than I am, LOLOL!
KK says
OH I feel ya for sure! My same sweet little amazing grace girl has a mom with a mean fashion sense…this 5 year olds closet has so many clothes that still have tags on them! They are from Laguna so she has all these cute brands that we don’t have down here! I am highly jealous!!
Did you also use to wear 2 diff socks? Man back in the day that was the shiznet! Oh man I wanted to be punky bruster SO bad!
PUNKY POWER!!
froo-gal says
i actually tried both of those (Hope in a Jar and Purity). I really love Purity when it comes to taking makeup off the face, but unfortunately it made me break out 🙁 so now i use it to take off the waterproof makeup before my regular routine. I LOVE Hope in a Jar, though! The smell is ehhh, but it’s got great texture and moisturizes nicely.

Hi KK,
LOL! My friend and I were talking about that show awhile back and he actually confessed to having a big time crush on Punky’s best friend, Cherie. I totally rocked the two colored sock look, and even went so far as to layer the socks. For example, I’d wear a blue sock with a white one layered on top, and then on the left I’d wear white with a blue on top, and then I’d scrunch them both down so that you could see them peeking out of my high tops (Reeboks). LOLOLZ! Damn I feel old sometimes…
Karen says
Hi Froo-gal,
That’s too bad Purity breaks you out — it’s one of the best cleansers on the market! I’m glad to hear that new Hope in a Jar works well for you. I am break out prone, too, so that’s very promising! Yay!
Lucky says
OMG I love the combo of Purity Made Simple face wash and Hope in a Jar! HiaJ is nice and light, doesn’t break me out, and leaves my face soft and glowy. Of course I just ran out 🙁 I really want to try Amazing Grace, but I tend to like heavier perfumes like VS Very Sexy Hot, which I just discovered! But does Amazing Grace come in lotion, too?

Karen says
Hi Lucky,
It does! It smells fantastic but is just okay in the moisturization department.
You are so lucky (ha!) to work in a place where you get to smell those lovely VS perfumes all day long. I will always have a place in my heart for Dream Angels Heavenly (one of my old school faves).

LOL! no camping without running water? that’s is so me too! my husband always wants to go hiking and outdoorsy stuff but i am a total rather-be-inside-wearing-cute-clothes-than-get-sweaty kinda girl! have you tried their hope in a jar? i wanna try it out but i’m not sure if it’s worth it…

Hi Roxy,
OMG! I so can’t hang with too much nature. I need my creature comforts, girl! The worst was when I went camping with my friends and the shower required that you put in quarters to keep the water running. Toward the end of the trip my stinky ass was running out of quarters… oh what a nightmare.
Anyhoo, I got a sample tube of hope in a jar and I like it for summer. It’s very light and fluffy, and gives me enough moisture for summer. BTW, how’s your skin doing? Did you ever find out what was making you break out?
Tiffany says
Hey girlie! You know, the nordie’s anniversary sale includes some ginormous amazing grace products, in case you need to stock up!
Also, I too rocked the 2 pairs of scrunchy socks with the colors switched. What’s worse is that there is photographic evidence of this 🙁
Glosslizard says
Ooh, I’m all over that perfumed body spray (or rather, it will be all over me)! Leaving it in the fridge is brilliant! 🙂
I was in Sephora the other day and I grabbed a .5 ounce bottle of the Amazing Grace fragrance for $15! A nice deal, and I’m using it to spritz my drawer liners so my clothes smell light and fresh without reeking of fragrance!
Roxy says
My skin’s just ok. I’ve never had like a huge breakout just in certain areas but I’ve been breaking out near my eyes? Like that little strip that leads from your forehead down to your cheek. You can barely tell its their but it drives me insane! Plus I’ve been getting these giant white ones under my lip! I really don’t know what it is but it’s making me crazy. I’ve heard that you’re not supposed to wash your face everyday is that true?

Karen, Heavenly is my fave, too! I stand near the sample all day, LOL.
BTW @ Roxy,
I really like HoaJ moisturizer, it’s refreshing, but it’s also really light so I doubt it would break you out. And I read that you’re supposed to wash your face like, day and night, but w/e you do be sure to always moisturize afterwards. Hope that helps!

Karen, I’m considering buying the Miracle Worker set, but because of its hefty price tag I’m curious- any insight?
