Scanning the break for beachy waves? If your mane/mop naturally has a lot of volume to it (read: when left to its own devices, it’s big and voluminous enough to exert its own gravitational pull), then Ouidad’s Wave Create Texture Taffy ($23) can tame that untapped volume and turn it into well-behaved waves.
A new flexible styling cream, it coaxes beachy waves out of straight or wavy hair. I’ve been using it for the past few days to tame my tresses and create full-on beachy waves.
Now, I lurves big hair (big hair don’t care!), but sometimes I lurves it more when it’s controlled and not wild.
Enter Texture Taffy. It adds just enough weight to hold down wild volume without making your hair lie totally flat.
Take a dollop the size of a nickel, rub it between your palms (watch it stretch!), then scrunch into damp hair to encourage better beachy waves. The process takes about five minutes total, and then I just let my hair air dry.
Texture Taffy contains giant sea kelp extract to nourish curls and enhance shine, and algae extract to moisturize.
The product dries to a matte finish and creates waves of large, defined pieces. It also definitely makes my hair feel softer, and I love the pineapple scent.
It’s a little extra work to use, but if your hair tends to get big and wild, and you want the look of defined waves, with Texture Taffy (I keep wanting to type “Texture Tabby”), surf’s up!

How’s the texture of your hair, the day after? Does it feel starchy or oily?

I like your beachy waves in the pic. I just got mine from being caught walking in the rain/wind. Not exactly the same effect. 😉

I love the idea of a taffy instead of a spray. And a matte texture instead of one that will leave my fine hair looking oily. Your waves sure are beachin’ 🙂

I WISH my hair had natural volume 🙁 I love the beachy wave look. I think I want to try the spray you mentioned recently… by this brand I think?

I really like your beachy waves. I could use something like this to tame my tresses.

Me likey! Do you use this by itself or w/ the Ouidad salt spray? Is it drying?

Sounds really good! I wonder how it would perform on my stubborn lifeless hair… If it can give me beachy waves, it can give anyone beachy waves.

*Gasp!!* Could this be the answer to my current hair problems? Even with a haircut and texture with thinning scissors, my hair is still thick and wild as ever. I’ve actually been looking into making more defined waves in my hair… I definitely need to give this a try to tame it 😀

This is exactly what I need for my daughter’s hair. She has thick dry hair and this would help it. Thanks for the review. What are you wearing on your lips? It looks so pretty

I tried this and the sea salt spray by Ouidad (after I saw you review it) and I like the spray but didn’t like taffy. My hair is pretty fine with a slight wave and this just made it feel dirty and coated. The spray on the other hand leaves my hair soft with a nice beachy wave. I think this is probably better suited for someone w/thick hair as is just weighed my fine hair down.
