And I thought those stiff, stubby little hairs that popped up on my chin were fast (I swear, it takes less than a second for me to go from hairless to full Santa beard!).
When I saw the new Sula Beauty Blush in Forget Me Not ($8), one of four new powder blushes from the brand, then read that it’s free of parabens, phthalates and petroleum by-products, AND wasn’t tested on animals, I snatched it up even quicker than my wayward chin hairs grow.
It’s a matte peachy pink with the faintest whisper of golden shimmer. I have a feeling that someone at Sula had NARS Orgasm blush in mind when this Forget Me Not came to be, but they chose to button it up, and make it a little less flashy.
Yes, Sula, you’re speakin’ my language. 🙂 I couldn’t wait to get this cutie on my cheeks.
Ingredients: Mica, Zinc Stearate, Magnesium Carbonate, Ester Isopropyl Isostearate, Kaolin, Benzoic Acid. (+/-) Iron Oxide (CI77491, CI77492, CI77499, CI77891), Titanium Dioxide (CI77891), Carmine (CI75470), Ultramarines (CI77007 ), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI77163 ), Chromium Oxide Green (CI77288), Chromium Hydroxide Green (CI77289), Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI77510), Manganese Violet (CI77742), Silica, Yellow 5 Lake (CI19140 ), Blue 1 Lake (CI42090)
Right away, I liked the look of the swatch on the back of my hand, and then how sheer and natural the blush looked on my cheeks. Why yes, I am the girl next door, thank you very much.
The powder contains kaolin clay, a frequent flyer in a lot of beauty products today, where it’s added to help products absorb oil. Perfect, because when my combination skin kicks into oily overdrive, some blushes slide right off.
Not Forget Me Not. It stays put all day long, which means no touchups (a HUGE plus).
But it’s not exactly the best employee at Blushes Incorporated, if you know what I mean (it’s hard to work with). The powder almost flees from my blush brush when I swipe it across the pan, like it’s afraid.
Hello, messy! Powder gets all over the place.
Probably not the best choice to apply in the car, but maybe when I’m at home and can apply it over over a sink.
Sticklers for finely milled blushes (I’m one of ’em) might sneer at Forget Me Not’s large powder grains. I did. When I sweep it on my cheeks with my blush brush, I can actually see the grains sitting on top of my skin. Sweeping/buffing some of them away with a kabuki brush helps, but who wants to have to do that? I’m impatient enough as it is.
I like certain things about Forget Me Not — the presentation, ingredients, price and that it’s cruelty free — but I wish it wasn’t so sheer and messy.
If you don’t mind having to dance a little to make it work, have very oily skin and prefer cruelty-free makeup, I’d say give it a try.

I’m really curious to try this line. But $8 is pushing my limit for a product that may or may not work. Ulta has the same lenient return policy as Sephora don’t they? If so, I might try ’em out.

A lovely, subtle pink and the price is great, too!
I’ve been using kaolin clay face masks lately to temper my oily/acne-prone skin. It’s been helping, so I’m curious to try makeup products that incorporate the ingredient!

I saw this the last time I was in Ulta and almost tried it (I had WAY too much in my basket already!). I remember liking this color, but having never heard of it before, I didn’t feel like trying it out. So thanks for reviewing it!
@Jessi: Ulta has a great return/exchange policy! I use it frequently. 😉

It’s disappointing that this has it’s problems. I was looking forward to try out new blushes.

That is a very pretty colour. I have always liked Sula’s perfumes but have yet to try their makeup. Luckily this is a Canadian brand and I can pretty much find Sula anywhere. 🙂

it seems like im going to have to make an Ulta trip. i dont really like shopping in the brick & mortar Ulta store — i find their SAs to be hit and miss. either they hound you and follow you around like youre going to steal something or ignore you.
but im so curious about this line. i guess ill have to grin and bear and Ulta trip. 🙂

I like the color but won’t like the way it feels. I’ve only been to Ulta once before, and it was years ago.
This is for any of the girls here, how do you think Ulta compare to Sephora? I’ve been really disappointed by Sephora lately. The shelves are messy and the associates haven’t been very helpful.

Ulta is nice because it carries drugstore and high end brands. However, Sephora has the best return policy, like, ever. It also carries brands like Make Up For Ever, Tarina Tarantino, etc. that are exclusive to Sephora that I really like. Sephora salespeople are also super helpful. So it’s really a bit of a trade off. Personally, I like Sephora. I can always pick up my drugstore brands at, well, the drugstore. Ulta does carry NYX tho, which none of my drugstores do. :O

The color reminds me of Urban Decay’s powder blush in Score, and that one applies like a dream!!

I am obsessed with any blush that looks like a peachy/pink!
