Technically, Mercury doesn’t enter retrograde until June 7 (I know this because I’m all over Susan Miller’s Astrology Zone like sweat on Daryl Dixon’s biceps), but man, oh man! — it feels like Mercury is already retrograding all over mah face!
I don’t know why, but for the past couple days, Murphy’s Law has ruled my makeup life with an iron fist. Anything that can go wrong with my eye makeup has gone wrong with my eye makeup. Uneven liner, botched blending, cray-cray clumpy lashes — you name it. It’s been a hot mess, so I’ve decided to stick to nudes and neutrals until whatever this is passes.
Until then, I’ll just chill with neutral palettes like the NYX Dream Catcher Palette in Golden Horizons.
This $15 cutie is one of three limited edition NYX Dream Catcher palettes released earlier this year. Each one comes with 10 baked eyeshadows and its own personal outlook on neutrals.
Compared to Dusk Til Dawn, the other Dream Catcher palette in my collection, Golden Horizons is heavier in the matte and satin departments, as opposed to shimmer.
I think it’s a little tamer because its shadows aren’t as pigmented as the ones in Dusk Til Dawn, but that could be a good thing if you don’t want to deal with blending drama, and/or have a legitimate fear of your lids looking like an unfinished painting from Picasso’s Cubism period (#thestruggleisreal).
I see this one being good for gals (or guys, of course) who just want a little definition on their lids without taking on too much pigment or veering outside the box.
It’s like the easy listening station of eye makeup palettes (KOIT… Light rock, less talk!), and wear time clocks in at around 6-7 hours for me.
If you’re interested, it’s BOGO right now at Ulta. 🙂
I’m just sayin’.
Finding beauty inspiration in unlikely places…
Like the local fishing shop.
Yup, El Hub is on a fishing kick, and he’s been trying to get me onboard. He even got me my own fishing pole last week, right before he took me to my very first bait and tackle store.
After shielding my eyes while I ran past the live bait containers (OMG, WORMS!), I ran into this really cool display with all kinds of bright colors and…GLITTER!
These color combos would make a really cool mani, wouldn’t they?
In sadder news, I’ve been rereading a lot of Maya Angelou quotes today (RIP). My favorite one: “If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.”
Be amazing, my friend. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

It looks really great! This is my first comment, but I’ve read and appreciated this blog for a while. For a long time, walking through the makeup isles was as bewildering as walking into some alchemist’s workshop, but I’ve learned a lot from you.

You’re always amazing, Karen 😉
This is a rather nice palette actually – and, if I’m not mistaken (or my monitor isn’t) surprisingly cool toned!

I really like the colors in this palette! As a kid my family would always stop by the bait shops while we were on vacation, and I was fascinated with the flies. I felt cheated that we had to buy the worms instead.

This palette looks lovely. As for the fish, I am so happy that I have a huge fish and sea food store not far from me. My favourite food!

Totally tempting. The NYX Smoky Palette was a surprise winner for me so Dream Catcher is a definite possibility. I especially like the second and last shades of the top row.

Karen, your makeup looks amazing here! This palette looks awesome.

This is actually a really pretty neutral palette! The color scheme is perfect for soft day time looks. I have more than enough neutrals but I think my friends would love this!

I seen those pallets at Ulta when I visited the USA 2 wknds ago… Wish I had know they looked so beautiful on!! I did pick up the NYX Butter gloss in Vanilla Cream Pie (pinkish hue) & Madeleine (browinsh hue… Along with 2 shades in the Baked Blush (thx to ur review).. Love both products!! Both products aren’t availabe at NYX retail outlets in Canada yet, we’re about 2yrs behind.. that makes me sad..

I like this! I especially like the price. I just can’t seem to bring myself to spend the big bucks on any of the Naked palettes. Good alternative.

It’s a bit warm for me but I like it!

I’ve also had a visit from the Elf of Bad Make Up Days, so I’m totally getting this. I returned to Naked 2 and so far I think the Elf is returning to where it came from.
I like the look of thie palette, I must say.
First time commenting, but Iäve been following for quite some time. You do a good job, Karen!

Sadly (or not!), I just ordered 2 MAC quads with all sorts of neutrals, so I can’t justify this one. But I just wanted to comment and say that your looks in this post are absolutely beautiful – everything from your eye to lip colours!
