Paris, London, New York, Novato…
Oh, that last one? Yeah, Novato, population 49,000, give or take. It’s quickly becoming one of the top destinations for beauty jet-setters.
No kidding, it’s a HUGE draw. Some people still don’t know this about Novato, but it has a Target, a Costco, a Bath & Body Works and even a Sephora, all in the same strip mall.
It’s really quite impressive to behold. 🙂
All kidding aside, even if your home base is out in the sticks like mine, you can still live the life of a jet-setter with the new $36 Benefit She’s So Jetset holiday kit.
Up here in my office, surrounded by 200-year-old oak trees and roving gangs of big-@ss turkeys, I feel like a first-class passenger on my way to a stylish beauty destination when I put on the pieces in this limited edition, travel-friendly kit.
Benefit filled it with neutral colors to suit a wide range of skin tones. It comes with four shimmery shadows, a satiny peach First-Class Face powder, a sample-sized tube of They’re Real mascara (a pretty good lash thickener) and a creamy nude-ish pink Life on the A List gloss.
In more detail…
- The Eyeshadow Palette: I like all four of these shimmery, shiny shades, although they’re on the borderline between just right and a little too frosty for me (just something to think about if you’re worried about fine lines). I like that Benefit included colors here that could work well for skin tones from light to medium and dark, and even though I detect a small amount of fallout with these, it’s not enough to get on my nerves.
- First-Class Face Powder and Brush: Okay, so the brush is kinda silly; it hardly picks up any product at all, but I like the powder, which gives my skin a soft, peachy glow…that smells really good! Like roses!
- They’re Real Mascara: As long as I only apply one layer, I’m a big fan of They’re Real. If I apply any more than that, my lashes start getting clumpy and crunchy.
- Life on the A-List Gloss: This super sheer, non-sticky milky pink looks kinda light on my pigmented lips, but I still think it’s great. You can’t go wrong with a lightly tinted, easy-to-wear nude gloss.
This kit is too, too cute! 🙂 Officially, it’s a holiday release, but wouldn’t it be great to get in a bridesmaids’ gift bag?
PRICE: $36

Gravity, why dost thou hate me so?
I must have done something to p*ss off gravity because I keep dropping beauty products on my foot!
Yep, foot. It’s always the right. Never the left. And you might not think that something as tiny as a Shu Uemura lash curler could hurt a foot, but it does. It does.
Anyone else a clutz-asaurus out there, or is it just Tabs and me?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

…AND Novato has TABS! <3
Ouchies at the foot/paw injury! You look so radiant in the picture! The kit sounds like a lovely gift idea.

Yes it does! Tabs is a hometown hero.
How have you been? 🙂

This palette is unbelievably similar to I Glam Therefore I am from Benefit’s Holiday 2011 collection. Even though this one is pretty, too, I’m really disappointed that Benefit decided to market this one so soon after. I know the company is not exactly known for reinventing the wheel with each new release, but come on!
Anyone else feel the same way?

I dropped an Inglot palette on my foot and that thing is so heavy, it left a bruise. :-/
I might get that set for a friend. Its pretty and the colors are appropriate for a makeup newbie!

Karen, you eyes are glowing!! This is a very pretty natural look on you. I love the Benefit sets. I have I’m Glam Therefore I Am and adore it. This one looks perfect for my daughter–she prefers an almost no makeup look–don’t where she gets THAT from!

I think I´ll pass on this set because
1. The eyeshadows, I have similar colors and I also don´t like that line between just right and a little too frosty.
2. I´ve a mini Life on the A-List gloss, it´s really sheer, but the scent… oh my! It´s so yummy!!!
3. I also have the They´re Real mascara, and I just read good things about this mascara here in Spain, but honestly, one coat is just ok, but 2 coats, and same issues as you Karen: lashes so clumpy and crunchy. I don´t think this mascara is worth the hype.
4. I have also a sample of the Porefessional, and it didn´t work for my little pores 🙁
I just realised I´m a totally Benefit addict, because I can´t buy any of the sets they launched this year for the holidays because I have at least 2 products from each set!
Btw, did you know that “Novato” in spanish means “rookie” or “newbie”? lol

I noticed that the applicator pictured in the Jet Set insert is a brush and liner, but what’s included is the sponge applicator. Boo. I’d prefer the actual brush compared to anything spongy.
