It’s a lipgloss!
Or is it? Ok, well, it’s a lip product based on an existing product from Dior called Color Reviver Balm, and like that Reviver, this one also channels mood rings.
Sort of.
New for spring 2013, $30 Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Gloss is supposed to be able to revive your natural lip color, whatever that means. Dior says it changes colors based on the chemistry of your lips. That’s the idea, but I think it has more to do with your actual lip temperature, as in, how hot are you? LOL!
Downsides? It’s expensive. $30 dollars expensive. That’s dinner and dessert (and maybe a glass of wine) for two! — or in Tabs terms, about 40 cans of gravy.
I guess you can imagine that it’s pretty easy to use… No special instructions. Application is pretty intuitive. You just whip out the wand, use the brush applicator to coat your lips, and wait. Seconds. Literally seconds. On me, it practically starts changing color on contact, going from a clear hot pink to a deeper, coral-like pink, almost like I’ve been kissing someone for a really long time.
At first I didn’t detect any fragrances or flavors, but then I turned my hound dog senses on high and smacked my lips together. I picked up the faintest eau de vanilla, barely there, both the scent and flavor.
I wore it around the house today and out to lunch with Jeremy Renner… Kidding. 🙂
Seriously, though, I’ve worn it a few times this month, and for a non-sticky gloss, it lasts a really long time. I’d say four hours. I applied it right after my workout this morning, puttered around the house, did some work, and had a desperation meal (some random soup from the cupboard and a can of guava juice…), and after all that, I could still see it there. Maybe not as shiny as it started, but I could definitely still see some Dior on my lips.
PRICE: $30

Wow! This sounds really cool! I think I’d like this one. I like the coral colour it turns on you a lot! But I better try it first-I bet it’ll be more pink on me.
Karen says
That would still be really pretty, Tracy! Happy Friday. 🙂
Jace says
So pretty! Also, are you using Maybelline’s Full N Soft mascara here? Your lashes look great!
Karen says
Hi Jace,
I’m wearing a new mascara from Guerlain:

Given by came out with a similar one which I missed-will have to give this one a try!

Hi Jodi,
Yup, they did! And it was really pretty, too. Hope you get to try this one!

Thanks, Sarah! Happy Friday.
Caroline says
Hi Karen. That gloss looks great on you, but I have two-toned lips (brown lip line and light pink inside). Do you think it would turn 1 color or 2?
Karen says
Hi Caroline,
Hmm, I don’t know. It’s kind of hard to tell since this product’s supposed to react different to different people. I’d assume that since your lips would be a fairly even temperature the color would be one shade, but it’s it does have a bit of translucency you may still be able to see the darker edges of your lips.
Rae // theNotice says
I love the shade this turns on you, Karen! I’ve always been a sucker for lip products that change shade — I know it’s all marketing, but I’m super fond of the particular translucence they tend to have ;o)
Karen says
Hi Rae,
Me too. I love it when you get just a hint of the lips peeking through…adds some dimension to the look.
Happy Friday! What are your plans for the weekend?
Marla says
Not a fan of glosses but anything Dior usually is great. Very pretty.
Karen says
Super pretty, Marla! Happy Friday!

Pretty but also pretty expensive. Speaking of lip products, I was at Walgreens yesterday and I picked up a new Rimmel Kate Moss matte lipstick and I am actually very impressed. It looks beautiful and lasts a long time.
Karen says
So expensive! But alas, that’s Dior…
Oh, I tried a few of the Kate Moss lipsticks last year and remembered liking them. The ones in the black tube, right? Which color did you get?
Agata says
The matte ones actually come in a red tube, I got a pink color, it’s pretty bright but I love it, it’s color 102 I believe.
Karen says
I’ll have to check my drugstore makeup drawer. I remember trying one of her shades last year and really liking it. Rimmel makes some great products for the price! Their Jungle Green liner is still one of my all-time faves.
Jennifer says
I used to wear their gloss all the time but I hated that it was so expensive and didn’t last at all! This looks cute though!
Karen says
Hi Jennifer,
Bummer! This one seems to last a pretty long time…maybe they changed the formula since you wore it last?
Anyway, have a nice Friday. Got any plans for the weekend yet?
Icaria says
This looks nice and so natural. Love it!
Karen says
Hi Icaria,
That’s one of the reason why I love it to.
Have a nice day!
Alison M says
I’ve never had luck with shade-adjusting products. Then again, I’ve never tried one meant for the lips. This one is fancy enough that I might need to give it a go. Plus, it looks great on you and we’re almost the same tone 🙂
Karen says
Hi Alison,
I’ve tried a few of them (foundations, blushes), and the lip ones always seem to work out best. Hope you give this a try! It’s lovely.
Emi at Project Swatch says
This turns into a really lovely color on you!
I actually saw some color changing glosses at the drugstore yesterday, I didn’t get them, but this is making me reconsider. Hmmm.
Karen says
Thanks, Emi. Happy Friday
Julie says
Oh my goodness! I need this asap. I didn’t care for the texture of the Dior lip glow balm, but I love Dior Addict glosses, so I have high hopes for this! I can’t wait to see what color it turns on me…most products turn fuschia on my lips!
Ankita@corallista says
Looks very pretty on you! I’ve only tried Mood lip balms, no glosses till now..
Michelle (LipstickRules) says
I just bought the Dior Rosy Glow blush, and I adore the Reviver balm…so I think this gloss is right up my alley. I love the colour on you Karen!
