Happy Friday, babes! I hope you slept well. 🙂 Do you have a minute this morning for a quick dive into drugstore fun with Neutrogena’s Moisture Shine Gloss ($9)?
The line of sheer, non-sticky, medium-weight glosses has been around for a while, with 14 colors to choose from in natural shades of pink, purple, peach, copper and nude.
Of the ones I’ve tried so far — Nutri Berry (a shimmery strawberry pink), Super Sparkle (a shimmery beige) and Potent Plum (a shimmery plum) — I like Nutri Berry best. I just think it looks slightly more pigmented than the other two…
From left: Nutri Berry, Super Sparkle, Potent Plum
Other things I like about Moisture Shine Gloss…
- The smooth texture feels comfortable on my lips
- Can you say hydration? I’d say it’s comparable to Clinique Super Balm
- They don’t overload my senses with any taste or scent
- The doe-foot applicator is easy to use for detailed work
- Neutrogena got the shine just right
- The glitter is safe for real-world use, aka it has what I refer to as “good” glitter 🙂
Some things I don’t like about ’em…
- $9 seems a little high for a drugstore gloss when an extra $5 puts you in reach of a MAC Lipglass
- Very limited wear time (about 90 minutes or so)
- Some of the caps were harder to close than others, so the packaging might be a little inconsistent
- I’d love to see them in a wider variety of colors — more fun, unusual shades

I like how Moisture Shine Gloss feels on my lips and appreciate the moisture, but if you’re listening, Neutrogena, how about knocking a couple bucks off the price? 🙂
You might like Neutrogena Moisture Shine Gloss if
- …you prefer non-sticky glosses
- …you like subtle shine and sheer color
- …you don’t mind having to reapply often
- …you like doe-foot applictors
- …you’re looking for a line of glosses to keep your kisser hydrated
Have you given them a try? If so, what did you think?

nutri berry looks gorgeous on you! i really like the look of these, especially as i’ve really dry lips.
Karen says
Hi Em,
You might really like these then. I found them very moisturizing. 🙂
Happy Friday!

ooh, I’m glad you reviewed these! I’ve been wanting to see some of the other colors..
I’ve tried Natural Boost, which I got when I was looking for a nice, shiny, neutral gloss. Unfortunately, it’s a little frosty on me. I should’ve gotten something with a touch more warmth, sigh. I do really appreciate the quality of Neutrogena makeup, but I REALLY wish that I could sample it in-store.
You should check out the wear time on the lip soothers – I think they’re pretty much just straight up glossy, not a lot of pigment, but I like how they feel on my lips once they’ve had a minute or two to settle down. Plus the wear time for me is at least a few hours, they have SPF 20, and the smell is quite subtle and pleasant.

Hi Shannon,
Me too. That’s one of the big drawbacks of drugstore makeup. At least now stores are getting better about letting people return stuff! Back in the day, once you opened something that was it. If the color didn’t work for you basically you were SOL.
BTW, I looooove the Lip Soothers! I always take them to the beach.

I can’t bring myself to spend $9 on a drugstore gloss… I’d rather “splurge” for the MAC variety that I know & love 🙂
Karen says
Hi Perri,
Which MAC glosses are your faves? I’m a Lipglass girl…
Marce says
I like NutriBerry best, though as has been said, I prefer shelling out extra cash and paying for something with more pigment in it.

Hi Marce,
Do stores ever do BOGO sales in your country? They might be worth it if you get ’em for a two-for-one deal.
Doni says
I am going to go to the store to check them out! Thanks for the review!
Karen says
Hi Doni,
Sure! I hope you find a color you like. 🙂

$9 is too much for this gloss unless u get Buy1 Get1 free at walgreens, which they normally have these deals

Hi Chibu74,
A BOGO sale would definitely make these a better deal.
gio says
Thanks for the review. These are too sheer for my tastes. I’d rather spend a bit more and get something more pigmented instead.

Hi Gio,
I hear ya. Some girls love sheer glosses though. My BFF can’t get enough of ’em.
Aleksis says
My friend LOVES these, but they just aren’t sticky enough for me.

Hi Aleksis,
Oh well. Good thing there’s a ton of sticky glosses out there to for you to fall in love with! 🙂

Thanks for the post! Nutri berry looks great for more nautral days 🙂 but i agree with you, i definately would want to see that price being lowered! I wonder if they have these at my local drugstores.. i’ve never seen them before 🙁
Karen says
Hi Agnes,
You’re welcome! I hope you can find ’em. Maybe wait for a BOGO sale… that way the price will be better!
Nina says
Ive used this and they are nice, but I do find them a bit pricey.
On a BOGO they would be a perfect buy … 🙂

For drugstore brand stuff that I like but is on the pricier side, I use the $3.50 off a $10 purchase coupon from Ulta. Plus, if you have a manufacturer’s coupon (like one from Neutrogena), then you can use both on the same purchase! I did this last week for Almay Foundation and ended up paying only $2! You can print the Ulta coupons online and sometimes I get flyers in the mail.
