**RING! RING!**
KAREN: Hello?
MYSTERY CALLER: Hey, girl.
KAREN: Hey… (?)
MYSTERY CALLER: What are you doing?
KAREN: Um…well, I have a wicked bout of insomnia right now, but what else is new?
MYSTERY CALLER: Damn, that sucks.
KAREN: And despite the fact that it’s closer to dawn than dusk, I’m playing with some new fall makeup from NARS.
MYSTERY CALLER: Fun!
KAREN: I know! I actually just applied a new blush of theirs called Unlawful — wait, who is this, and why are you calling me in the middle of the night?
MYSTERY CALLER: Well, that’s for me to know and for you to find out.
KAREN: OK, that was creepy…
MYSTERY CALLER: Wait, don’t hang up on me. Trust me, you’re a fan.
KAREN: Alright… OK, well, this is totally weird, though, but what the heck. It’s the middle of the night, and I’ve obviously got insomnia, so I might as well just go with it.
MYSTERY CALLER: Yes! Now, about that blush… I want to hear all about it.
KAREN: Uh, huh… Have I mentioned how TOTALLY WEIRD this is?
MYSTERY CALLER: You have.
KAREN: Right… But I’m not one to pass up an opportunity to talk about makeup, even if it is with a mystery caller in the middle of the night.
So, Unlawful. It’s a real showstopper — a warm-toned opalescent bronzed amber pink packed with tiny flecks of silver glitter, and it’s very pigmented, too.
That NARS decided to add silver glitter to it seems kind of unusual, because as warm as it is, I would have expected NARS to go with gold instead.
But the silver works. There’s just a lot of it.
OK, a ton.
You can’t really tell in pics, but you get up close and it’s a total glitter-fest.
I mean, the flecks are almost microscopic. They’re really tiny, which keeps the shade from delving into tacky territory, but it’s great. With this, you really don’t even need a highlighter.
Ultimately, it depends on how you feel about glitter. It’s all really subtle in pics, but it’s like, “Hey, how YOU doin’?” in real life.
MYSTERY CALLER: A friend of mine told me that Unlawful is from the new fall Night Caller collection? Is that right?
KAREN: It is. I always look forward to the NARS fall — wait, can you hold on a second? My cat just walked into the room, and if I don’t pick him up and show him some attention he’ll throw a fit.
Come here, Tabs.
MYSTERY CALLER: Take your time…
KAREN: Anyway, the fall collection is dope! Ten pieces. Along with the blush, there are a couple of eyeshadow duos, two Satin Lip Pencils, a new multiple and, oh! — a new line of glittery eyeliners based on the NARS Night Series eyeshadows.
Do you know those?
MYSTERY CALLER: Actually, no. Frankly, I know more about acting than I know about eyeshadow.
KAREN: Acting, huh? Your voice sounds a little familiar…
MYSTERY CALLER: You were saying about the NARS Night Series eyeshadows?
KAREN: Oh, right. Yeah, the Night Series. They’re like a line of super glittery specialty eyeshadow singles in the permanent line.
My favorite one is called Night Star, and it looks super pretty as a wash on the lids or as a highlight for your brow bone.
Wait — am I getting too technical?
MYSTERY CALLER: No, keep going.
KAREN: Actually, dude, this is getting too weird for me. You have to tell me who you are now or I’m hanging up. And why do you want to know about Unlawful blush?
MYSTERY CALLER: Well, I know a few starlets who might like it. Let’s see, there’s Eva, Sandra, Michelle, Rachel, Emma…
KAREN: HOLY EFFING CRAPPITY CRAP! Ryan!? Is that you? Is this Ryan Gosling?!
MYSTERY CALLER: Hey, girl!
KAREN: Calling me to talk about blush in the middle of the night!?
MYSTERY CALLER: Yup.
KAREN: I’m either dreaming right now, or my insomnia is much worse than I thought.
Fall is calling! — and apparently it’s calling in the middle of the night. 🙂

Fun post Karen! The blush looks lovely on you. Unfortunately most of the shades in this collection wouldn’t work on me.

Hahah super cute layout and I was just wondering what this blush would look like when worn and here this post is! So happy that it looks soo purdy on and isn’t a glitterfest!!Im all over any black and gold eyeliner so night clubbing sounds fantastic!! thanks for sharing Karen!

Hi Dee,
It’s actually pretty glittery in real life. The camera doesn’t pick up on the glitter too well…it’s there, though, and there’s a lot of it!

I am not much of a glitter fan, but I have to say that Unlawful has me aching for fall. The Dolomites Duo is the other stand-out from this collection and I can’t wait to see more.

Karen, I love the creativity of this post, and the fact that Ryan Gosling ended up being the mystery caller, LOL! I’m not so sure about wearing glitter in my blush given that I have large-enough pores as is. Night Bird liner is gorgeous, and I LOVE, love, love Thasos nail polish! I was wondering what that polish was and was excited when you said it was Thasos. I’ve had my eye on that one (I’m a sucker for anything aqua/minty)! I’m sorry that you had insomnia — I’m also an insomnia queen and it’s definitely not a fun thing to have. 🙁

I see a lot of pretty things in this collection! The blush, the sparkly eye pencils, the Jardin Perdu eyeshadow duo… 🙂
Mostly, however, what I see is more awesome creative blogging from my favourite crazy cat lady Karen 🙂 <3

Very pretty, but I have my heart set on Malice (thanks for that!). 🙂

I don’t do glitter. The only thing I want from this collection is the Dolomites eye duo.
That lip colour gives me the shivery horrors. I wore something like it through much of the 90’s. I refuse to go back there. No matter how on trend that colour may be, there are 1627489976568995444 colours that suit most people better!
