They say she’s hard to work with…
Miss Piggy, that is. They say she’s a diva, and sure, I can see that — the tantrums on the set, the king-size dressing room, personal trainers and catered food flown in from Paris. I can’t help but wonder if Miss P’s penchant for drama played a role in the new Miss Piggy for MAC collection. Could that be why it only contains three little pieces?
In the comments at the bottom of yesterday’s post with swatches, a few gals said they felt that the release represented a missed opportunity. After playing with the eyeshadow, false lashes and liquid liner today, I’m apt to agree.

The Lash in 36 ($15)
Probably the piece that stands out the most for me, even if they took a while to apply. The thin, comfy lash band doesn’t feel like it’s merely resting on top of my lids, which I like, and the long, wispy lashes feel as light as butterfly kisses. Of course, they weren’t the easiest falsies to apply (it took me two tries), but I’m glad I stuck it out, because I think they’re surprisingly comfortable, as far as dramatic lashes go. Great for a night on the town with the girls.
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: AEyeshadow in Miss Piggy Pink ($15)
The texture of this hella sheer blueish pink feels like hard-packed clay to me, and I have to swirl my brush inside the pan about 15 times to pick up enough color for a single layer (for the three three layers I’m wearing for this look, I must have swirled about 45 times). On the plus side, though, I like how lightweight the product looks and feels, even when I really pack it on. I wouldn’t say that I’m in love with the color, as I think it’s a tad too sheer for me (probably a better match for lighter lovelies).
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: BPenultimate Eye Liner in Rapidblack ($17.50)
A repromote, and my least favorite piece in the release. At least in my hands, the short, stiff tip isn’t conducive to smooth lines. Mine all have jagged edges, so I think I’ll be sticking to LORAC’s Front of the Line Pro.
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: C
While I like the lashes, for me that’s almost all this tiny collection has to offer. That and a few regrets. I would have loved a lipgloss inspired by the color of Miss P.’s purple gloves (wouldn’t that have been rad?), or sassy special edition packaging, or a shimmery green eyeshadow inspired by the one and only object of Miss Piggy’s affections…
I hope that if MAC revisits the Muppets theme again (and I really hope that they do), they take fuller advantage of Miss Piggy’s larger-than-life personality. Can you imagine something like Venomous Villains but with Muppets?
In a word: EPIC!
Grandcat
Well, that about does it for Friday, my friend, and it looks like we made it. WOO HOO!
Tomorrow my parents are driving over from the East Bay to, as they put it, “visit the grandcat.”
I’m so stoked because my mom is bringing one of her famous apple pies (made with apples from their backyard) and one of my favorite dishes, sinigang, which is kinda like Filipino gumbo.
Cannot. Wait.
Food always tastes better when your mommy makes it for you. 🙂
Do you have any plans this weekend? Whatever you’re doing, I hope there’s room for fun.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Miss Piggy is iconic. I can’t believe MAC couldn’t do her justice, especially with a pink eye shadow. The lashes look great on you though!
I love sour sinigang! There’s nothing like mom’s cooking. I think I will request this when I visit my mom.

Sinigang sounds so delicious, especially with how cold it is outside right now!

Well done for the hard work on piling up the shadow to show the beautiful pink shade.
If only MAC could make it in Veluxe Pearl.

The lashes look wonderful on you!
Have a nice day :9

That pink had so much potential! The idea of a whole Miss Piggy collection had a lot of potential, really. I think MAC has really been off the mark lately.
Like you I don’t have kids, but I do have dogs. My mom refers to them as her “grandpups”. And the part about your mommy making you food almost made me cry! My parents live 5 hours from me and I miss them so much. When you both have busy lives 5 hours might as well be a different country. :-/

Oh, I love the look of those lashes! But you’re totally right – I feel like MAC really missed out on a great opportunity here. Or perhaps just squandered a great opportunity away, seeing as they didn’t really *miss* it altogether? Words are hard on Saturday mornings >.<
Have fun with the parentals, Karen! 😉
Kate & Zena says
Am I the only one who thinks the eyeshadow would work great for a blush instead of an eyeshadow? I think it’d make a nice blush for someone like me.
My grandparent’s call Zena a grandchild too, Karen! She doesn’t get Christmas presents from them yet, but she’s the second granddaughter as far as my grandma and grandpa are concerned. This is very funny as my aunt’s dog, Oreo, is not considered one. My grandma even tolerates Zena’s fur on her slacks (note about my grandma: she HATES FUR on her slacks, sweater, shirt….etc.) and my grandpa brings dog crackers over for her.
Speaking of apple pie, do you know what my dad did? He made me promise, on OCTOBER FIRST, to make my “world famous” apple pie for Thanksgiving.

While I am surprised the collection is so small, I do like the eyeshadow. I think it looks pretty universally wearable and I’m looking forward to it. Your lashes look fab. Thanks for the sweet comments, btw.
