I can’t remember the last time I had a makeup-related dream.
Or a dream where I even realized I was wearing makeup.
Can you? Have you ever had a dream where you’re putting on your makeup? I wish I did. Dream makeup… I think I’d like that.
New Maybelline Dream Cushion Fresh Face Liquid Foundation, which is coming in January in eight shades that are $16 each, has the word “dream” right in the name.
Cushion compacts like this one have been over the place lately! When you open the compact, instead of there being a pan of cream or powder, there’s a sponge pre-soaked with liquid foundation. You take a puff applicator, a Beauty Blender or a brush, dab it on the sponge, and then apply that to your face.
I haven’t tried many of them yet, but MAC Matchmaster Shade Intelligence Compact is my cushion compact holy grail at the moment. It’s $38 though. It’s lightweight, medium coverage, and it beautifully blurs my pores. And it doesn’t budge on my skin.
But I like Maybelline Dream Cushion as well.
I definitely like the much lower price, but it doesn’t cover quite as well as the MAC one. It has a more satiny, uber-natural finish, through which I can still see my 40-ish pores and freckles.
If I were still in college or in my early 20s, I’d be all over this in a heartbeat. The coverage is sheerer than the MAC one, and it doesn’t blur my pores as well, but on the flip side…my skin still looks like real skin.
Seriously, for a drugstore face product, I think this is really, really good.
Oh — you’ll probably want to set it with a powder, because it tends to start scooting around and seeking out my fine lines after a few hours (especially around my mouth).
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. TGIF!!! ?
P.P.S. Yes…I thought it was Friday when I published this post. I only figured out after that it wasn’t.
Anyway, TGIT?? 🙂 Haha!

It looks good on you, Karen. I’ll take a look the next time I’m at the store, but I also tend to go for heavier coverage now that I am over 30, er- I mean “21”. Lol. 😛

Thank you!

That foundation looks great on you. It looks very natural. I wonder if cushion foundations are hydrating enough for my very dry skin.
So I guess by now you’ve heard the Bobbi brown is stepping down from her company. I just hope that her products will maintain her integrity. I know that some of them are being phased out like my favorite Moisture Rich foundation. I will have to find a replacement. I am thinking of trying Chanel’s Vitalumiere Radiance formula. I got a trial sample and so far, I am enjoying it.
Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Hi Jane,
I have dry skin and it loves cushion compact foundations. This one does tend to move (and doesn’t blur pores intensely) so if those are concerns, FYI.
I haven’t tried Chanel Vitalumiere Radiance but have heard good things. Is the finish on the dewy side?

Hey Karen! Does the Maybelline cushion foundation oxidize? I am super pale and a lot of foundations turn orange on me! Merry Christmas to you, El Hubs, Connor Claire, and of course Tabs!
Karen says
Hi Carla,
I didn’t notice any oxidation with this formula (and like you, a lot of foundations turn orange on me). I would still keep your receipt and purchase it from a store with a good return policy though just in case.
Merry Christmas to you too! What are you doing for the holidays?

I gotta check this out! I’ve been trying to use only concealer lately but I still want a little teensy blur effect, ya know?
Karen says
Gurl, I want ALL THE BLUR. LOL!
Efrain says
Karen you look soooo young I don’t know if it’s because of the foundation but you look like you have less than 30.
That foundation looks interesting but the L’Oréal one hasn’t arrived yet and I still need to try the MAC one.
I’m in my hometown, there’s no internet unless you buy one code or your cellphone has signal so I’m half uncommunicated, that’s why I haven’t written a lot.
In case I’m not able to, happy holidays Karen, Miss Connor Clare, Tabs and El Hub!
Karen says
Helloooo Efra! Aw, you’re so sweet. I think it might be because I’m wearing less under-eye concealer. EEK! It seems like the less I wear, the better off I am in pics… Ah, well. Who knows? Are you happy to be back in your hometown? I hope you’re enjoying your break!

Hmmmm, yeah, think I’ll look for the MAC one first, though this doesn’t sound bad either. But I need pore blurring! Lots and lots of pore blurring!
Also, don’t think I’ve ever had a make-up related dream, oddly enough.

Maybe it’s my monitor, but all the shades look very warm-toned to me. I don’t think I could wear a single one of them!

Your pretty close to my mothers skin color I’m a little bit fairer but that because of my white father so hard find a close match in color. Always seem get the lighter shade but always looks too pink. Maybe this may be the right color for my skin.
