Ooh! So shiny…

Something primitive kicks in whenever I see the mirror-like shine of Maybelline’s Color Elixir by Color Sensational lip gloss ($8.99) on my lips.

I wonder if I have leftover genes from a cave girl who was more interested in collecting shiny rocks and staring into sparkly rivers than gathering dried sticks for the community fire (BO-RING).

These have been out since fall 2013, but this is my favorite time of year for this kind of shine. The non-sticky medium-weight formula lasts about two hours on my lips and shines like a lacquer.

Um…the flavor and scent? I think they’re a tad unusual, like jasmine and earl gray tea perfume, if that makes any sense. I don’t mind it. It’s just a little…strange.

There are 20 shades available now ($8.99 each) at drugstores, Ulta and online.

I probably wouldn’t drive to five different Rite Aids all over Marin County to track ’em down, but if I were in the mood for an impulse budget beauty buy, eh, I’d drop one in my cart, along with a bag of Peanut M&Ms, for sure. 🙂

I just bought the mandarin last friday but im torn on wether I wanna keep it or not..on me it just gives a slight hint of pinky peachy color with a load of shine& barely there sparkles, I just don’t like sparkle on my lips.but at least the gloss isnt super sticky just kinda heavy feeling..

  4. These have a different nomenclature in Asia – divided into GLAM series and POP series followed by numbers. I absolutely LOVE these! I have 3 of the shades and I want more!

The Color Elixirs do have a weird smell and taste. It’s like a powdery perfumy kind of smell lol. I still love the formula though! It’s one of the best glosses I’ve ever tried! I need to grab the Mandarin rapture soon
