Let the record show that as of today, in my official capacity as the mayor of this little beauty burg, I formally proclaim this to be the season to go totally and completely bat-sh*t cra-zay-zay for coral.
*BEEP*
(The beep is supposed to make it official.)
Who’s with me?! 🙂
Lately, everywhere I go, I feel like a makeup prospector mining coral gems on shelves and counters, and these are the coral gold rush days.
“Eureka!” I frequently exclaim. There are just so many gorgeous corals out there these days, like this Master Hi-Light Powder Blush in Coral by Maybelline, waiting for nice cat ladies (and other friendly folks) to discover them.
Dude, I almost can’t believe this is only $10! — because it looks like a $42 Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick on my cheeks, only better. I get that same ethereal Shimmer Brick glow with it, but with a more diffused and forgiving finish.
Hi-Light contains a bit of everything — an illuminator, a bronzer and a blush — all in one pan.
I’ll usually swirl my brush around in it to mix the products together and apply that to my cheeks for a softly blended coral glow. Then I’ll run a finger across the lightest shade in the pan, and apply that down the bridge of my nose, on my upper cheekbones and on my Cupid’s bow as a highlighter.
It lasts all day long, doesn’t oxidize, and I think it looks natural. A bonafide drugstore gem.
Oh, and if coral isn’t your cup of tea, Hi-Light Powder Blush also comes in Pink Rose, Mauve and Nude.
All four shades are available now at drugstores, Ulta stores and online.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. I’m back from the salon! 🙂 I read lots of trashy gossip mags (Oh, US Weekly…you are my jam!), so my batteries feel recharged.
I’ll post pictures of my new ‘do soon. Hope you’re having a good afternoon.

That’s certainly a nice alternative to the BB shimmer bricks!

I own one of these in nude, it’s quite nice! Good lasting power too, which is unusual for me with blush!

I have the nude one and guuurl! I swiped in on my cheeks for the first time and thought “damn.” Maybelline hit it out of the park with these. I just have to remember to go lightly, otherwise it can turn your cheeks into a discoball. And the brush it came with is pretty awful. Other drugstore brands at least give out soft fluffy blush brushes, that one is stiff and sparse :/ I always use my own with it.

Yeah, I’m also having a current love affair with all things coral. I’m not sure if this would work on my NC50 complexion but I’m intrigued enough to try the other colors. I’d love to find a coral blush, though. Score one for the drugstore finds 🙂

Looks like a beautiful highlighter! I wonder if this will make it to the Maybelline counters down under…?
