Make Up Forever Aqua Cream Shadow in Pink Beach on eyes, Peach on Cheeks and lips
It’s almost that time of year — hot weather, humidity, glittery purple sweat trickling down your forehead and ruining your carefully applied makeup right as you make eye contact with that cute boy on the train…
Been there, done that. 🙂
Just in time for summer, the Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams ($22 each) are here!
These 21 creamy colors aren’t just waterproof; they’re also multitasking, moolah-saving monsters, with some of them usable on the eyes and cheeks, and others on the cheeks and lips. Convenient, yah?
The honor students at Make Up For Ever designed the Aqua Creams with extreme photo shoots in mind (as in extreme environments). They resist perspiration, smudging, creasing and tears (YES!). Also, like that ill-advised, scripty tattoo of Raul on your left boob, they ain’t going anywhere, any time soon. Once dry — and they dry in 1-2 minutes flat — they last and last and last.
Blinding you with science! MUFE added what they call “evaporating oils” to the Aqua Creams to help them adhere to the skin, and a special polymer that encapsulates pigment particles to make them waterproof.
I’ve only been playing with two of the colors, Pink Beige (a shimmery peachy beige for use on the eyes and cheeks) and Peach (a peachy pink with golden glitter for the cheeks and lips), for a couple of days, but so far I’m beyond impressed.
I don’t have a feel for their total wear time just yet; however, the swatches I applied on the back of my hand this morning are still going strong, and that’s through several hand washings and snuggles with the Purrminator.
Peach… this one totally reminds me of a cream version of MAC Nymphette Lipglass
Pink Beige
Swatches from left: Peach, Pink Beige
Allegedly people start looking like their pets after a while
Texture-wise, the Aqua Creams feel light and silky to me — fluffier and less dense than MAC Paint Pots and Benefit Creaseless Creams. The color applies with intense, rich pigment, and both of the shades I’ve been using layer, smudge and blend effortlessly with either fingers or brushes.
Have I mentioned their versatility? It’s thebomb.com! You could wear ’em alone, under powder shadows, or perhaps beneath a blush or a pretty gloss.
Sweaty beasts and fellow fiends for cream makeup just might fall in love. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+
You might like the Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams if…
- You like waterproof makeup
- You like creams that are easy to apply and blend
- You like products that multitask
Tardy to the party!
I’m a little late on the train, but now I’m obsessed with Lady Gaga, and it all started with this song:
When she starts belting in it I get chills! I love every single track on the CD (The Fame Monster). It makes me want to dust off my musical theater voice!
Have you been feeling any tunes lately? Anything I need to listen to ASAP?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Gorgeous! And I think I may have mentioned it before, but as sparkly and girly as it is, Minnutes CD makes me little-girl-dancey. I totally did twirls and plies on my porch listening to “I Can” today. It’s such happy, get-you-out-of-a-bummer music!

Kind of loving that green color,

lmao!

I do to all three qualifications! Ive been eyeballing these babies @ the Sephora website for a while now. I do like cream based eye and cheek products because I feel like I have better control over stuff when I use my fingers to apply.
Love that they are less dense than a PP too! I might pick one or two up this weekend (or when I stop dilly dallying and finally check my shopping cart out!) …
FRIDAY!!!
Tiffany says
Ohhh, they must be awesome to get an A+ 🙂 I think I need peach and coral… and taupe. Ugh, I have like 300 bucks worth of stuff in my sephora.com cart and I have been trying to narrow it down for days. It’s not working. It keeps growing instead 🙁
Tiffany says
OH – and check out this 6th grader doing Lady Gaga 🙂 pretty impressive!

And I feel you about the Sephora cart. I am *this* close to hitting checkout, oy!

what is currently tempting you from Sephora?
I’m wanting this set – http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?categoryId=A17&id=P262501 and the coral/gold stain and shine – http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?categoryId=A17&id=P260203 … and a dozen other things, lol!

Thank goodness! Just in time for sweaty beast weather! 🙂 If you’re liking Lada Gaga and are also a fan of True Blood, check out her Paparazzi video with Alex Skarsgard (Eric from TB). Love him… oh, and the song is very catchy too (though not her most current).

Thanks for this (although I’m always gonna be TEAM VAMPIRE BILL!).
Lowelli says
ooooOOOOooooo very very pretty. Is that Peach on your lips? So nice!
Van says
Karen, so glad you blogged about these! I’ve been on the look out for funky cream eye shadows that don’t crease and stay put no matter what! Can I ask, how did you apply them? Did you use a brush or your fingertips? Also did you use a primer? Thanks so much 🙂
Have a great day!
Karen says
I’ve used both fingers and a synthetic brush and both work great. 🙂 I haven’t been using a primer (but you can if you want!), because they stay on pretty well.
Scientific Housewife says
They look great but that is a steep price!
Amber says
Ah, you are no good for my budget. 😀
How do they feel on the lips? Many products dry me out, and ‘evaporating oils’ sound like a potential dryness problem for me.
.-= Amber’s last blog post… Care package =-.
Karen says
I was worried about dry out, too, but when combined with a moisturizing gloss (in the pics here I’m wearing it with Clinique Superbalm in Grapefruit) it isn’t bad at all. Wearing it matte sans gloss might be another story though. Were you thinking you might wear it alone, or layered with something shiny on top?
Amber says
Probably just alone. May skip this one, then. My husband will thank me. 😉

Karen says
Yeah, it might be too drying for you. But hey, you never know! When they have ’em on counter at Sephora ask one of the SA’s to make you a sample and take it for a spin. It might have enough moisture for you.
Gemma says
Oooh I love Brown Eyes from that CD-very circa 1980s monster ballad! Plus, brown eyes rock 😉

You can definitely tell that loves some monster ballads! And some musical theater…
lexi says
Yeah I love that song too! I am also loving that peach cream on you too.
Karen says
Thanks. You have Nymphette, right? It make a good blush to go with.
Shelby says
These look so awesome! The peach looks great on your cheeks and lips! I may have to invest in some of these.
Karen says
Thanks! I think you’ll really like them. Do you have some good synthetic brushes around? They’ll come in handy for application.
Happy Friday!

*bows down to MUFE* Thou is not worthy! Holy crappers this is AH-MAZING! Cannot wait to get my paws on these babies!!!
KC says
Hey Karen! I got one as well, #14 to be exact ! A Make Up For Ever store near me (I’m in Asia) has a 15% off all items so I went in and got one after hearing about its water and oil resistant qualities! and it’s true! it doesn’t move once it dries!
I’ve been wanting to get a M.A.C Paint Pot as a base since my bare canvas Paint is running out. which one do you think is better at preventing that eyelid crease? I haven’t try Paint Pot yet but I’ve been thinking soft ochre or painterly, as for MUFE, I’m thinking either #13 or #16 as a base. Which would you prefer?
Thanks.
Karen says
Hi KC,
Regarding Paints versus Paint Pots: I’ve had better luck with the Paint Pots. They seem to do better w/sticking to the skin and avoiding the dreaded eyelid crease. Painterly is probably your best bet — it reminds me a lot of Bare Canvas Paint.
For the MUFE bases, I’d probably go with Warm Beige. Unless you wear a lot of pink colors, you’ll probably get me use out of it. I haven’t tried it yet as a powder base but I’m betting that it’s all sorts of awesome. 🙂
Let me know if you have any other questions!
KC says
Thanks Karen for clearing some things out for me! I’ve been thinking that The MUFE Aqua creams might be too shimmery for my everyday use. Now I have to get my hands on some Paint Pots, knowing that it’s great with avoiding that eyelid crease!
Thanks for answering my question!
Vonvon says
All the eye colors are so pretty. And with such raves…..I should go check out my local MUFE store. Gold and all the colors in the last row seem to be calling out my name! 😀

The peach looks gorgeous! I’ll definitely have to check it out the next time I’m at their counter. I really like Lady Gaga, too, Karen! You’d have to be extremely talented to sing that well live and without additional musical accompaniment (sp?!).
Doreen says
Oh, and right now I’ve been listening to Ray Charles’ Hit the Road, Jack and The Pink Panther theme song on repeat!

I love MUFE they feel like a no bs brand and the pigments are awesome! Have a good weekend ladies!
