MAC’s Calling, and They Want You to Just Add Colour

*Ring-a-ling-ling*

Get the phone, honey child, because MAC’s a-calling, and they want you to Just Add Colour. :)

If I ever had any willpower when it came to bright sticks o’ gloss, MAC’s Just Add Colour Lipglass ($14) totally nuked it. Hello! It happens to be almost the exact same shade of fuchsia as my iPhone case. A coincidence? Perhaps, but when the worlds of makeup and technology collide, I’m so there.

Limited edition Just Add Colour shimmers by herself as the lone Lipglass in the approaching Prep For Colour collection (arrives Thursday).

Just Add Colour Lipglass

Isn’t she sassy and fresh? Perfect for spring/summer. The color begins with a bold, highly pigmented POP, but it wears down over the day into a surprisingly natural dark pink.

I think it feels right at home beside the brown and beige eyeshadows in Prep for Colour, offsetting them beautifully.

Some ideas for MAC neutral shadows to wear with Just Add Colour…

  • Light skin tones: Phloof! (a frosted off-white), Mylar (a creamy white with shimmer), Brule (a creamy beige)
  • Medium skin tones: Ricepaper (a peachy gold with shimmer), Nylon (a pale gold with shimmer), Shroom (a soft beige with shimmer)
  • Darker skin tones: Arena (a soft golden peach with pearl), Samoa Silk (peach), Bamboo (a light peachy beige)

With a medium-weight, slightly sticky feel, vanilla-flavored Just Add Colour rocks the classic Lipglass texture and taste, and it even lasts an admirable four hours on the lips.

I think I’m falling in love with this shade! :) If you have a soft spot for bold lips, you might want to swing by a MAC counter to check it out. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

When time machines meet hot tubs

I couldn’t resist anymore and finally made it to one of the most anticipated, groundbreaking films of 2010 so far… Hot Tub Time Machine.

Okay, so it’s not groundbreaking at all, and the only person who probably anticipated it was me, but I thought it was pretty darn funny for the kind of movie it is. El Hub kept trying to point out inconsistencies in the plot related to the space/time continuum, LOL! I kept having to remind him that we were watching a movie about a TIME TRAVELING HOT TUB.

If your brain’s just in the mood to melt into a bucket of good ol’ cheesy fun, HTTM definitely fits the bill.

It even got me thinking about time travel… Here’s a question: if you had your very own hot tub time machine, would you use it to travel back?

I totally would!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I love that color of pink, that’s totally bold! I’m surprised a lipgloss can give that much color… it looks like a liquid lipstick to me.

A time traveling hot tub… oh movies now ><

Karen that shade looks great on you! And by the way I love when you post pics of your full face with a lip color on. I love the closeups but it is nice to see how the color looks with respect to the whole face :]

      Hi Ana V,

That’s good to hear! I’ll keep trying to do that if it’s helpful.

How’s your evening going? I’m just chillin’ and watching old episodes of Law and Order SVU.

That is one gorgeous shade of pink and perfect for summer. LOL why is it always the guys who pay attention to the details in time travel movies? The inconsistencies in the space/time continuum….such a guy thing to say. Speaking of time travel movies, I do enjoy Donnie Darko.

  15. Inaya says:

oh wow. that looks beautiful on you Karen. I was wondering if you could help me out with a concealer issure; cause my dark circles always end up looking grayish. I’m a MAC nc35 N use that concealer shade. What am i doing wrong? thanks a lot!

    • Karen says:

      Hi Inaya,

You might want to try using an NW concealer shade. Sometimes yellow-toned concealers can cause a grayish cast. I wrote about it a while back:

When choosing a concealer, pick one with pink tones, even if your skin is yellow or neutral toned. The MAC instructor at the seminar informed my class that 99% of the population should wear a NW color for their undereye concealer. She said that even if you normally wear NC foundation, you should choose a NW concealer because layering yellow-toned concealers over dark circles can create a grayish color.

  16. Sylvie says:

Okay I bought this lipglass on Friday, but why is mine in the regular MAC lipglass tube? Anyway, I couldn’t resist how opaque it was and how bright it was. I’m tired of lipglasses that look bright but come out sheer.

    • Karen says:

      Hi Sylvie,

I’m not sure re the packaging issue. Have you had the chance to wear your gloss yet?

      • Sylvie says:

Not yet though, I’m the kind who buys makeup and hoards them because I don’t let myself open a new product unless I’ve finished something else. It’s to keep my current collection in check, but I’m not very successful when it comes to eyeshadows and eyeliners so those have grown exponentially :D In the mean time in the fuchsia lipglass department, I still have about 3/4 tube of Creme Allure dazzleglass creme to go through so it’ll be a while before I get to Just Add Colour.

  17. I am loving the colour of this gloss! I definitely have a thing for bold pink lips. I’ll be checking this out for sure.

That lipgloss is pure love! Want want want it!

I might go and get Nylon and Shroom this weekend – ive decided that I will do very, very neutral eyes with a pop of colorful liner for this summer! Too lazy to mess with anything more than that!!!

  19. Nancy says:

LOL We’re finally going to see “How to Train Your Dragon” tomorrow. The girls and I are on break this week, and since we’re saving for our trip to Disney in the summer, we’re laying low this week. Fun activities planned so we’re not bored around the house, but nothing expensive. That pink looks great on you…I’m looking forward to next month for my Nordie’s Beauty Trunk Show. I signed up at the Lancome counter for my make-up experience. Been wanting to try some of their products. Have a great Tuesday!!

    • Karen says:

      Hi Nancy,

Fun! Don’t be surprised if the girls will be asking for pet dragons where you walk out of the theater. :D

Which Disney will you be going to? Disneyland, Disneyworld?

  31. Marian says:

That’s what the Chanel lipgloss should have looked like! Pretty! Iwouldn’t want to travel back in a time machine. I want to travel forward and see what’s to come.

HTTM-Best premise of 2010! Anything with John Cusack is a win and you can’t have a time travelling movie without Crispin Glover!

  34. Rachel says:

Milani has a color pretty similar to this…I can’t remember what it’s called, but I think you have it. How does it compare?
By the by…I love a bold lip. I’m sporting a red lip with only mascara and pop of pink on my cheeks today…and yes, I work at a law firm. I’m a rebel. :)

  35. Vickie says:

I really love that color!! It looks especially gorgeous on you. :) Does it have a brush applicator, or the traditional doefoot applicator?

That color is just yummy. I have OPI nail polish the same color too! :) And I really loved that movie. As long as you’re prepared to embrace the silliness, it’s awesome. I liked how it walked the thin line of becoming too silly or cheesy.

  44. Melissa says:

I just bought this today and it looks the same on me as it does you! (fair skin with green eyes) Meaning that it’s true to color! So pigmented and so springy! Love it… however, the bottle is the same as the other lipglasses, not square!

  45. Veky says:

Now I’m really sad MAC isn’t available here :( It’s such a lovely color. Can’t even remember when I was so much into a lipgloss as I am now. O_o

i always look for this shade, glad i could find it. but fuschia can go very wrong.this is great though, only apply if u can carry it off(i think it works best for pale complexions as the paleness offsets the bright pink)

    I also bought… I am green-eyed person and I just love it!
