MAC’s Calling, and They Want You to Just Add Colour

April 5th, 2010 by Karen 71 Comments

*Ring-a-ling-ling*

Get the phone, honey child, because MAC’s a-calling, and they want you to Just Add Colour. ๐Ÿ™‚

If I ever had any willpower when it came to bright sticks o’ gloss, MAC’s Just Add Colour Lipglass ($14) totally nuked it. Hello! It happens to be almost the exact same shade of fuchsia as my iPhone case. A coincidence? Perhaps, but when the worlds of makeup and technology collide, I’m so there.

Limited edition Just Add Colour shimmers by herself as the lone Lipglass in the approaching Prep For Colour collection (arrives Thursday).

Just Add Colour Lipglass

Isn’t she sassy and fresh? Perfect for spring/summer. The color begins with a bold, highly pigmented POP, but it wears down over the day into a surprisingly natural dark pink.

I think it feels right at home beside the brown and beige eyeshadows in Prep for Colour, offsetting them beautifully.

Some ideas for MAC neutral shadows to wear with Just Add Colour…

  • Light skin tones: Phloof! (a frosted off-white), Mylar (a creamy white with shimmer), Brule (a creamy beige)
  • Medium skin tones: Ricepaper (a peachy gold with shimmer), Nylon (a pale gold with shimmer), Shroom (a soft beige with shimmer)
  • Darker skin tones: Arena (a soft golden peach with pearl), Samoa Silk (peach), Bamboo (a light peachy beige)

With a medium-weight, slightly sticky feel, vanilla-flavored Just Add Colour rocks the classic Lipglass texture and taste, and it even lasts an admirable four hours on the lips.

I think I’m falling in love with this shade! ๐Ÿ™‚ If you have a soft spot for bold lips, you might want to swing by a MAC counter to check it out. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

When time machines meet hot tubs

I couldn’t resist anymore and finally made it to one of the most anticipated, groundbreaking films of 2010 so far… Hot Tub Time Machine.

Okay, so it’s not groundbreaking at all, and the only person who probably anticipated it was me, but I thought it was pretty darn funny for the kind of movie it is. El Hub kept trying to point out inconsistencies in the plot related to the space/time continuum, LOL! I kept having to remind him that we were watching a movie about a TIME TRAVELING HOT TUB.

If your brain’s just in the mood to melt into a bucket of good ol’ cheesy fun, HTTM definitely fits the bill.

It even got me thinking about time travel… Here’s a question: if you had your very own hot tub time machine, would you use it to travel back?

I totally would!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I love that color of pink, that’s totally bold! I’m surprised a lipgloss can give that much color… it looks like a liquid lipstick to me.

A time traveling hot tub… oh movies now ><

      Hi Inaya,

You might want to try using an NW concealer shade. Sometimes yellow-toned concealers can cause a grayish cast. I wrote about it a while back:

When choosing a concealer, pick one with pink tones, even if your skin is yellow or neutral toned. The MAC instructor at the seminar informed my class that 99% of the population should wear a NW color for their undereye concealer. She said that even if you normally wear NC foundation, you should choose a NW concealer because layering yellow-toned concealers over dark circles can create a grayish color.

You can read the rest of the post here.

Okay I bought this lipglass on Friday, but why is mine in the regular MAC lipglass tube? Anyway, I couldn’t resist how opaque it was and how bright it was. I’m tired of lipglasses that look bright but come out sheer.

Not yet though, I’m the kind who buys makeup and hoards them because I don’t let myself open a new product unless I’ve finished something else. It’s to keep my current collection in check, but I’m not very successful when it comes to eyeshadows and eyeliners so those have grown exponentially ๐Ÿ˜€ In the mean time in the fuchsia lipglass department, I still have about 3/4 tube of Creme Allure dazzleglass creme to go through so it’ll be a while before I get to Just Add Colour.
