5 things MAC’s Ripe For Love Powder Blush would say if it could talk
1. Ditch your boyfriend.
Boyfriend, girlfriend, whatever. Your tanned skin and I, we belong together, just the two of us, you and I.
I don’t care where we go. I don’t care what we do. I don’t care, pretty baby, just take me with you. Let’s hit that beach we talked about, sip umbrella drinks, and nap all day long because I’m from MAC’s Temperature Rising collection. And I’m hot like that.
At night, you can put on that look I like with the chocolate smokey eyes and glossy copper lips, and then dust me on top of some bronzer on your cheeks before we head out.
Oh, the trouble we’ll find…
2. I’m officially called a mid-tone peach but…
…I think of myself as a papaya.
A juicy, ripe papaya begging to be devoured. Don’t even bother with a spoon. No shame! Just bite into that thing, and let the juices dribble down the side of your chin in slow mo.
3. I hate your shoes.
Blergh! Especially the flat Life Stride pair that you borrowed from the cafeteria lady wear when your feet ache.
Screw that. My name is Ripe for Love, hello! — so I’m all about, pardon my French, the fracking pumps. One layer of me on your cheeks (that’s all you’ll need because I’m pigmented like whoa!) and you’ll be glowing like Halley’s Comet.
Why? Because I’m THAT good, if I do say so myself.
4. I have a softer side…
It’s true. My scene, like my friends in Temperature Rising, is more about sultry summer nightlife, where molten metallics throb and glittery glosses throw air kisses with shimmering bronzed skin.
But look, I’m not all about seduction. I also have a softer side.
I can go from Do Me Baby to Let’s Wait A While in the flick of a wrist. All it takes is the gentlest caress of my feather-light powder on your cheeks, so we can do all kinds of things together, like go to the ice cream shoppe, your next book club meeting, work — heck, even that froo-froo yarn store where you fondle all the skeins but never actually buy anything.
I promise, I’ll behave.
5. Let’s make it official.
This doesn’t have to be a summer fling. My soft sheen and Satin finish will do you right any season. I’m ready to commit to you, 365 days a year, 24/7.
Forget about those flat mattes and frosty finishes, girl. They’re just players…

Birthday shoes, 2013
My [gulp] thirty-eighth birthday is right around the corner.
Every year I like to celebrate my bday by treating myself to a new pair of shoes, and today, right now, the quest begins! 🙂
Should I go with pumps? Flats? Something crazy bright, or nude?
Do you have any birthday rituals you do every year?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

You look sooooo beautiful! These are definitely YOUR colors… the jewelry, the makeup, the outfit… everything is perfect!

Ok, I gotta know…exactly which quad are you wearing on your eyes and what lipstick because you look gorgeous in that pic! Btw, happy almost 38th birthday! Hope you find yourself a great pair of shoes to celebrate your day!
Lauren says
Your earrings are amazing!
Tiffany says
Wow this is super pretty. Want!!! I don’t think I have anything like this shade. I wish I had a birthday ritual! I think I should start one. 30 is a good year to start, right?!
Jamie says
Is it bad that the whole post I was distracted by your bracelet? Where did you get it? I love it!!!
MJ says
My b-day ritual lately has been going on a little date with my bf since it’s also our anniversary. 🙂
That blush is gorgeous btw. I normally don’t buy blush, but I’m very very tempted now. XD The bf might not be happy about that first line though. :X
Anjali says
Looks great! Could you post what other makeup you have on?

Whoaaa Ripe for Love is SO hot on you, Karen! I swatched it and while I liked it, it’s nowhere near how it looks on you! I need a tan. Or some bronzer. Like seriously!
Agata says
What a fun post, well written Karen! I love that blush and I can’t wait to get it. I hope it looks on me at least half as good as it looks on you :)And what are you wearing on your eyes and lips? You look fab!
Yesenia says
A dupe for this would be inglots blush #30, it’s also crazy pigmented. Sheesh 🙂 but missy this looks beautiful for a sheer color.
Danielle says
This post is too funny! I love this blush. I want to get both from this collection. I haven’t been this excited about a collection in a while haha.
Kim says
That blush is both lovely and a little naughty. I like it already! HAHA! I once designed and ordered a customized pair of Nikes for my b’day. I tell you this because I know that would be right up your alley, instead of buying some gorgeous, fancy heels or sandals. 😉
Chelsea says
I just bought some new sandals, since mine from last summer are pretty much destroyed! I was a good girl and bought flat ones… I’ve seen the feet of my supervising professor who wore heels all their life, and that’s enough to scare you into wearing practical shoes most of the time!
This blush is gorgeous.
Lauren says
It’s so pretty but I already have enough summery blushes than I know what to do with! And as for birthday rituals, I tend to great myself to a new piercing every year, mostly since the piercing places around me do them free if its on your birthday! Its never anything too in your face though (literally) XD My most recent one was a tongue web
Steph says
My birthday is soon too!
I actually recently bought a pair of mint heels so I think I’m good for shoes for now. Well, no, I’m not — but my wallet doth protest.
Silvia says
Hi Karen, love your writing, really fun to read! and of course great makeup expertise. Thank you!!
Christina says
Papaya! That is an excellent description for it. I’ve heard people say coral-orange, but papaya is far more descriptive and easier to visualize! Thanks for the review!
Richa Saxena says
Karen…Youur Post placed a smile! Loved every bit of it… 🙂 :):)
Karen says
Thanks, Richa! Have a great weekend. 🙂
Imelda says
Karen, do you think that the rosy peach shade in the NARS Foreplay palette is similar to this or are they totally different? Thanks!
