The MAC Originals collection eyeshadows have a little somethin’-somethin’ for every girl (or makeup loving boy).
For the neutral lurvin’ ladies and gents…
And here’s some cool shades for the cool kids…
Last, but not least, a few fun shades for your party side!
Are you feeling these? I was really anticipating the eyeshadows in this collection, and so far I have not been disappointed. My faves have been Ochre Style, Frisco, A Little Folie, Clue and Parrot. I thought I’d fall in love with Daisychain, but, honestly, if you already have Shroom or Ricepaper you don’t really need it. I’ll be doing looks featuring these colors in the next few days, and I’ll provide more detailed reviews then.
Naughty or Nice?
Are ya’ll ready for Santa? I’m going to leave out some cookies and milk; hopefully he leaves me some Chanel.
El Hub and I are heading out to the East Bay (beast in pig latin, yo) to hang with my family. Time for some food, fun and karaoke!
Whatever you’re doing tonight, I hope your heart is filled with joy and love. Merry Christmas!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

YAY! Swatches of eyeshadows 🙂 Hehe…
I might buy Ochre Style, Clue/Alum & Parrot. Lovely colours. Memorabilia reminds me of the eyeshadow from Matte 2, poisoned pen? Can’t remember the name. I got them gift card for them big shopping centres like Sephora. Imma save it to get Mac N & Mac Fifa 🙂
Merry Xmas Karen 🙂

You know, I decided to go ‘nay on the Little Folie, but when you put them together like that, I’m wishing it was sitting with its collection brothers and sisters, hah. Ochre Style looks so gorgeous against your skin. Looking forward to your looks. Did you get any of the reflects glitters?
makeuplovesme says
merry christmas, karen!
Karen says
Hi Sandy,
I think Poison Pen is a bit more darker than Memorabilia; I’m at my parent’s house right now so I can’t compare but will take a closer look when I get home.
You’ll have a lot of fun using your gift cards, I’m sure!
Merry Christmas 🙂
Karen says
Hi Mrs. Lynne,
Yah, I was pleasantly surprised by A Little Folie. I usually don’t like red browns (I have Saddle and I rarely reach for it) but A Little Folie looks really rich and very wearable.
I did get some Glitters! I’ll put the swatches when I get home. I’m at my parents’ house right now and they stayed up late last night karaoke-ing till the wee hours.
How was your Christmas eve and morning? I bet it’s so much fun when you can see the little ones open their presents! 🙂
Karen says
Merry Christmas, Marina! 🙂

Karen, I love that first color. I’ve been looking for something to highlight my browbone when I’m onstage under heavy lights that shows up well. I need a very strong white or silver and something that has staying power. any suggestions? I thought about Phloof…someone suggested Cloud Bound. what do you think?
Mrs. Lynne says
I have Sketch but A Little Folie looks much deeper in color. I think I may go back and get it when I get my makeover this weekend.
And Jamoca Almond Fudge is so yummy. Oh, I want some ice cream now!
Karen says
Hey Jaz,
If you want some serious color check out MAC Pigments! I have some swatches here – I’m thinking Lily White pigment for you!

What are you using as a primer?
Karen says
Mrs. Lynne,
Next time I’m on the island we’re going to Baskin Robbins and then to the MAC store together, for shore!
Makeover, how exciting! Are you going to let them do whatever they want, or is there a certain look you are going for? 🙂
jaz says
wow. Lily White is awesome. I just use the Prep+Prime.
Karen says
Hi Jaz,
Yeah, I know! If you want bright white then Lily White is the way to go. I dunno how it works with Prep + Prime eye (I’ve only used Pigments with concealer and MAC Paint as a base) so I can’t attest to the staying power. One thing that I do to keep shadows “put” is to place a thin layer of Urban Decay Potion Primer on my lids first, then top it with a layer of MAC Paint or MAC Paintpot. The Potion Primer has fab staying power for shadows, but I find it hard to use by itself because it can make shadows difficult to blend. Adding the layer of Paint makes it easier to blend away harsh lines. 🙂

Hey K. I’m not sure yet. I set an appointment because the MAC @ Pearlridge is having an artist from the bay area come to do makeovers. They’re slotting hour appointments instead of the normal 1/2 hour. The manager told me that the artist is really good and that she will be the one to do my makeup that day. Although after the holidays and knowing how busy it’ll get, we’ll just have to see if that actually happens. But since Shape & Sculpt will be out tomorrow, I’m probably going to have to gear that session towards sculpting.
Karen says
I wonder if the artist is Louise Zizzo! If it is, you are in for a treat. I met her and interviewed her during SF Fashion week and she’s knowledgeable and super cool!
Mrs. Lynne says
Summer (the Manager(?) @ MAC) told me the name of the artist is Rosana. Does that sound familiar?
Karen says
Nope. I don’t think I know her! Are you gonna pick up any of the Shape & Sculpt? I’m probably going to pass.
Mrs. Lynne says
I’m probably going to pick up Shadester/Lightsweep (if it matches my skin tone) since we don’t have a PRO store here. I probably won’t use it on a daily basis, but it’s a ‘just in case’ purchase. I think a lot of my collection is like that *bites lip* lol! Do you have any of the sculpting powder already?
Karen says
Nope. I have *zero* interest in that line. I’m just not feeling the need to shape or sculpt, ya know?
I wish MAC would sell something where I could magically shape and sculpt 10 pounds off my tummy! Then I’d be all over that in a hot second!
Mrs. Lynne says
Hah. And then if they can do an offshoot of that line with a stretch mark concealer, I’ll be right there with you.
Miss Gisele B. says
Karen,
I agree! This new collection from MAC Cosmetics simply rocks!
I really loved a lot of their colours and the best part is that they would suit girls who are over 35 😉
I find that a lot of MAC Cosmetics collections are great, but look better on younger girls because they sometimes have a lot of glitter…that said, the Originals is age-appropriate for some many of us. HURRAY!
Miss Gisele B.
Karen says
They’d make zillions…sigh. Now lets go get some Baskin Robbins, LOL!
Mrs. Lynne says
LOL! And I took a picture of meat jun for you that I took a while back and forgot to send, but amongst my folders, I can’t find it. I’ll take another and send it to you.
