MAC Makeup Reviews - Royal Assets Eye Shadow Palette in Warm Eyes

Mon, 12/10/2007 by Karen | Posted in: Product Reviews

One for You, One for Me

I know I can’t be the only woman out there who goes holiday shopping for others but accidentally buys a few things for herself. I suspect a primitive hunting/gathering mechanism kicks in when I see those deals exclaiming “Buy two and get the third one free!” for things like fleece pullovers. I end up buying stuff I’d never touch if it weren’t on sale.

If you’re going to accidentally buy yourself something this holiday season, then it might as well be something pretty and useful. Save yourself from the fleece sweater trap and wander over to your nearest MAC counter to get yourself the MAC Royal Assets Eyeshadow Palette in Warm Eyes. With six well-rounded shadows, the palette is my current go-to palette for work looks.

For $36.00 you get:

Sunday Best - Ivory with frost
Nobility - Light pink taupe
Retrospeck - Bleached blonde
Star Violet - Earth-touched pinky-brown plum fusion
Club - Muted reddish brown duochrome with green opalescent shimmer
Showstopper- Neutral dark brown

A Few Easy and Pretty Work Looks

The palette is great for creating put-together looks in a hurry.

Three-minute makeup:

If I don’t have much time to get ready for work I wear either Sunday Best or Retrospeck all over the lid, and Nobility in the crease. I’ll curl my lashes and add two layers of MAC Plushlash in Plushblack.

Four-minute makeup:

I’ll do the same as above but add Club or Star Violet in the outer V and then blend to eliminate harsh lines.

Five-minute makeup:

I’ll do all the steps above, and then wet my MAC 266 brush and dip it into Showstopper to line my upper and lower lashlines.

MAC Palette O-Rama

And if Warm Eyes doesn’t suit you, there are three other palettes in the MAC Royal Assets collection — Cool Eyes, Metallic Eyes and Smokey Eyes.

Warm Eyes is my current favorite of the bunch because the colors are conservative, pretty and completely goof proof!

Have you started your holiday shopping yet? I haven’t! My family is driving me nuts because no one will tell me what they want. They are all gonna end up with fleece pullovers, I swear.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

You aren’t the only one, I think i have done more shopping for myself than for others so far. I can’t help it if all of those holiday beauty gift sets are so gosh darn cute!

any tips on how to use the smokey eye palette? As a quick 5 min that is…

LMAO! Fleece pull overs….so funny. You know they are on sale at Old Navy for $12. Seriously. I think I love the Warm Eyes palette the best too. It’s soooo on my Christmas look. Have a great upcoming week!

Lol Karen, I bought cool eyes for my sister’s bday and I keep taking it out and drooling all over it. I think I’m going to get metallic for meself..following the one for you and one for me rule right??

  6. 6. Kelly said, on December 10th, 2007:

Well I’m glad I’m not the only weak one! In the process of Christmas shopping for others… I walked away with the Coral Finery set, Viva Glam warm lip palette, $175 worth of MAC product at a CCO, Bliss gel-lined socks, and some hand & foot lotions from Bath and Body Works for myself.

And no, I’m not done Christmas shopping yet!

    Hi Adina,

They make it tough, don’t they? What always gets me are those gift with purchase deals. I always think to myself, “Hey, well I’d buy this lotion/sunscreen/whatever in a few months anyway, I might as well get something cool and free.” That’s how I always get suckered in… :)

  8. 8. Karen said, on December 10th, 2007:

Oh, Etherealprey, you said my favorite magic words “in five minutes.” Let me work on that. I’ll get back to you in a few. :)

  9. 9. Karen said, on December 10th, 2007:

Do it, Kimie! The Metallic set is really wearable. If you’ve already got a good set of “go to” shadows then go for it. (Just don’t dip into your sister’s present…I know it’s tempting) ;)

    Hi Kelly,

Those Bliss socks are the shizz (I’m wearing mine right now.) :)

Anyway, I always go to Bath & Body Works under the guise of buyings stuff for others but I somehow always manage to make it out of there with at least a lotion for me. Sigh! What scents did you get?

  11. 11. Karen said, on December 10th, 2007:

    Hi Divine Blackness, :)

I just bought a black one for 13 bucks at Gap! I think I’ll actually wear it though - I justified it as “Gym Wear.” It’s really ugly though. There’s no cuteness happening when I wear it.

  12. 12. Melissa said, on December 10th, 2007:

I am getting the warm eyes set for Christmas…I went with my mom to pick it out! haha…But I was really excited to see it featured on your blog, cause I had forgotten what colors the eyeshadows were. So thanks!~ :)

It’s true what you say hehe about buying ourselves something. It’s strangely justifiable!

    Good tips, thanks!

  14. 14. Tootsie said, on December 11th, 2007:

Holiday shopping is the best way to smuggle in some goods for ones ownself (apparently this is not a word). I’m done with my Christmas shopping except for one bro-in-law. But because his gift is up to my husband to purchase, I fear he won’t get it until Easter.

  15. 15. Karen said, on December 11th, 2007:

You are welcome, Melissa. That’s cute that you and your mom go shopping for makeup together (mine is sooo not interested in makeup at all).

Christmas is two weeks away! Lemme know what your favorite colors and looks are when you finally get to open it. :)

    Hi Grayburn,

You’re welcome. Are you done with your shopping?

  17. 17. Karen said, on December 11th, 2007:

Ha! Tootsie, my hub is in charge of the “boy” gifts too. I think he’s going to be giving the usual: gagets from amazon.com.

I am so jealous that you’re finished. Got your gifts all wrapped up too, I bet! :)

Sometimes I can get rather selfish singing, “two for me, none for you” or “more for me, one for you” lol. Yes, the holidays are getting frustrating when you don’t know what to get everyone. I always hit up Old Navy. I can never go wrong there in finding something at a reasonable price.

  19. 19. Karen said, on December 15th, 2007:

    Hi Mrs. Lynne,

I like Old Navy, too. You can always find somethin’ somethin’ there. I bet though, that the fleece pullovers don’t sell very well over there in Hawaii. :)

  20. 20. Mrs. Lynne said, on December 15th, 2007:

Hey Karen. Actually, it’s been pretty cold over here, as far as island weather in concerned. I’ve been having to wear my fleece robe and pants to stay warm in the morning and the boys have been wearing a little fleece also. But it does seem unusually cooler this year than last. How’s CA weather? My dad says in his area (Fresno) that it’s been hitting 30’s!!

  21. 21. Karen said, on December 16th, 2007:

    Hey Mrs. Lynne,

It’s been cold, for us. Low 50s during the day. I so can’t hang :) At least it’s not raining, right?

Hope you had a good weekend. :)

  22. 22. Mrs. Lynne said, on December 16th, 2007:

I don’t mind a little cold, but not so much of the rain fanatic unless I’m indoors and can stay dry. Although rain does mean the mountains are in good shape for snowboarding. I miss not being able to do that here.

Hope you have a swell weekend also!

  23. 23. Karen said, on December 16th, 2007:

Girl, you are the exact opposite of me. I’ll jump into the middle of the ocean (the deeper, the better) but I can’t hang in the snow on a snowboard! Oh my god, that snow has no give. OUCH!
