MAC Creme Team Previews

January 29th, 2009 by Karen 42 Comments

Move over mattes, and make way for MAC Creme Team!

Last year’s Matte 2 and Mattene collections were fun throwbacks to the 90s, but for now MAC’s sweet on creams.

The Cremesheen Glasses in the new MAC Creme Team collection fit nicely with the Cremesheen lipsticks released a few months ago.

I previewed three colors from the upcoming Creme Team collection, and all I have to say is halleluyar! I’m in love with the Cremesheen Glasses.

Creamsheen Glasses feel thinner, slicker than Lipglasses

I’ve never felt the Lipglasses were overly sticky, but some women do. For whatever it’s worth, the new glosses — both Petite Indulgence (sheer hot pink) and Looks Like Sin (sheer berry) — feel noticeably slicker, thinner and less sticky to me than the Lipglasses.

The texture reminds me of high quality E.V.O.O. (shout out to Rachel Ray!) — you know, the way good olive oil feels on your lips. That’s how it feels.

Pigmentation and durability

Although I prefer the way the Cremesheen Glasses feel, the Lipglasses win in the pigmentation department.

I think the Cremesheen Glass colors look brighter in the tube than they look on my lips, but when it comes to durability, the Cremesheens begin to fade after just a couple hours, while the Lipglasses seem to last about twice as long. That’s no big whoop to me, though, because I don’t trip over having to reapply often throughout the day.

To their credit, when the color of Cremesheen’s wears down, it actually looks really pretty, like a transparent, semi-shiny wash of color.

Final thoughts

Right now, I think the closest products MAC has to the Cremesheen Glasses are their Lipgelee glosses. They feel similar and have the same faint vanilla scent but are just slightly thicker and aren’t flavored at all. The Cremsheen Glasses also last longer and have a little more pigmentation. Makeup and Beatuy Blog Rating: A

Cremesheen Lipstick in Creme In Your Coffee

A few new Cremesheen Lipstick colors join the new Cremesheen Glasses, yea! Right now, I’m really feelin’ Modesty, but Creme in Your Coffee runs a close second.

It’s a creamy pink brown that looks low key in the tube but oh-so-gaw-geous on the lips. I kinda think wearing it makes me feel more alive.

MAC got the mix between pink and brown just right — not too cool or too warm. I’m guessing ladies of all skin tones will be able to wear it well. It’s a fantastic neutral and totally reminds of something Bobbi Brown (aka the neutral lipstick queen) would create in her lipstick workshop. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

Swatches from left to right: Creme in Your Coffee, Petite Indulgence, Looks Like Sin

I’m stoked about checking out the rest of the collection when it drops next week. What do you think so far?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Hi Karen – Totally unrelated to Creme Team…what is your opinion of Mineralize Blush? Specifically, Dainty. I have a fair olive complexion (sounds totally weird, right?) and I have such a hard time finding a blush that I like. Tried this on at the Mac counter and I think I really like it, but I thought I should get the Queen of Mac’s review first. 😉

Cream in Your Coffee, madame? Hehe. That lipstick just went into my “to-get” list. It looks such a great MLBB colour for me (I have super pigmented and dark-ish lips)

Oh my gosh…that lipstick is PERFECT. I’m a huge, huge fan of really toned down lips and this color is absolutely perfect. It’s just pink enough, but it’s still on the nude side. Love!

I want any MAC lippie so bad.

If I went to a MAC counter do you think they would know how to apply a smokey eye to my monolids? I don’t want to look like a clown walking outta there :/

Creme in your Coffee looks gorgeous–and I’m so glad it will be permanent!!

I’m not a fan of the glosses…I tried the lipgelees and couldn’t really get into them. I’ll still check them out though. I can’t ever go to a department store with a MAC counter and not at least stop by for a little peek. 🙂

    Hi Vampy Varnish,

You and your camera are still in the getting to know you phase, aww! One thing that helped me was to read the manual. Not the most exciting way to spend an afternoon, but it helps! Soon you’ll be inseparable (I never leave home without mine).

    Hi Xtina,

I hear ya. One thing that I think helps when going to a MAC counter (or when going for any makeover) is to bring pictures of the look you want, and then articulate what it is about the look that you want to replicate. I think that as long as you can communicate with who is working with you your chances of walking out looking like a clown are lessened 🙂

    Hi Lesley,

I’m doing great! This week flew by SO fast! I feel like I woke up on Monday… and then all of the sudden it was Friday.

School is going well. I really like my teacher and the students in my journalism class. 🙂 It’s been a long time since I’ve been in a college environment and it’s nice. I’ve missed it.

How was your week? Got any big plans for the weekend?

    Hi Maggie,

No worries! Hmm, I rarely use the auto settings. I find that the manual settings give me the best results. If you still have the instruction booklet I highly suggest giving it a quick glance, and then just trying different things. Trial and error is a big part of figuring out how your camera responds to different shooting situations!

    Hi Karen4,

Hee! I’m hoping that Creme in Your Coffee will make it’s way into the purses of many, many ladies. It’s a FANTASTIC neutral!

Last night I kept thinking about the sheerness of the Glasses. At first I was a little unsure of it, but I am okay with it now. I figure if the shades looked *too* milky they might look gross, ya know?

I hope your Friday is off to a great start!

LOVE!!! love! cream in your coffee–looks totally gorgeous on your lips, not what I was expecting from the tube. It looks so much darker, and way more brown. I can’t wait to check these out.

I actually like the sticky mac lipglass too. It does feel to stay on longer that way. These new ones kinda sound like the Fresh sugar glosses to me. But, yeah, they are way sheer huh? I will check these out too of course.
