Neat and New to Me
Unlike my Unsung Heroes series, which features permanent collection products I’ve known and loved a long time, the Neat and New to Me series showcases permanent collection products that slipped under my radar for a while, but then I discovered them! — and now I think they’re neat and new to me.
Makeup rules are meant to be broken, but I still got mad love for the makeup law-abiding classics, like looks with bold smoky eyes and nude lips, which I blame, in part, on $17 MAC Crème D’Nude Cremsheen Lipstick.
Some makeup looks are like zombies, ya know? (Because it always comes back to zombies…) But I mean that figuratively this time. 🙂 Basically, they never stay out of style for long.
So while I’ll always love my fellow makeup rule-breakers, especially when you do that smoky eye-bold lip thing (keep workin’ that emerald green smoky eye with those glossy, opaque hot pink lips, hunty!), I still gotta have my classics.
Pale muted peachy beige Crème D’Nude totally understands that. It’ll make you want to strip down to your skivvies and run around the office screaming in ecstasy.
OK, maybe not…but it does flat-out rock. It’s full coverage, smooth, moisturizing, and its warm peachy tones keep me looking like I’m actually running a healthy 98.6°F temperature. By comparison, I can’t stand it when pale beige lippies make me look like I just crawled out of the ground like an extra in MJ’s Thriller video.
Hell no! That’s sooo not happening with Crème D’Nude.
There isn’t a smoky eye it doesn’t like, be it a classic puff of charcoal gray and black, or a bright, bold blue and teal like the one I’m wearing here. Crème D’Nude will pair with it perfectly.
It lives in the MAC permanent collection, so it’s waiting on a counter near you, hoping to make sweet, sweet music with your smoky eye looks. 🙂 Swing by a MAC counter to give it a closer look, or check it out online.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Happy Humpday.

I neeeed this color!
Karen says
Yeah you do! It looks great layered underneath light pink and peach glosses too.
So, the other day we were talking about teas and you mentioned Republic of Tea. Funny but they have corporate offices in my town! And yes, I’ve had their tea before and it’s absolutely delicious. Have you put any rooibos flavors into your cart?
Sara says
I did! I got a new holiday one called dream by the fire…it’s rooibos with vanilla and cinnamon. And I got my usual favorite decaf vanilla almond. I also picked up that trader joes tea yesterday…it’s delicous! Thanks for the recommendation:)

I am a true believer in classics. I love the contrast of smoky eyes and light lips or nothing but liner and mascara with a red lip. I do, however, need a little more color in my nude lip than the color you’re wearing. It looks ok on you, but the pigment in my lips are more blue-pink than the rest of my warm-toned fair-medium skin. I would still look like a stand-in for The Walking Dead , which btw, my 14 year old son is addicted to.
Kiss & Make-up says
This is THE perfect nude for you, Karen, I love it! It’s the perfect companion for heavy eye looks!
Nicole says
Oh, this is so petty on you! I just added Oh Honey to my lip pencil stash under your influence. I’m trying to hold off on unnecessary purchases until after the big Sephora sale until after I make all the LE and Set buys for the holidays. But, I have that same problem with nude lipsticks making me look dead-ish. Man, I so need to try this one and that awesome gloss you had over it! But, I’m wondering is that gloss a limited? I think it was Baby something? I wrote it down at home.
Karen says
Hi Nicole,
It’s called MAC Big Baby and it’s in the permanent line. 🙂
What’s on your Sephora list?
Nicole says
I found it! I just bought it and the lipstick! I had made it my triple points day this am because I caved and shelled out way too much $ for some LaMer Cream because my skin has been super dry and NOTHING is helping. So, I’m hoping this does. So, I can totally justify buying these right, lol?! Now, I’m thinking about a mineralized blush or that Nars Madly or Both! Lol..I’m outta control with the triple points! lol!
Lauren says
I LOVE LaMer! Did you get the regular moisturizing creme, or the soft creme? Hope you live it! Lasts forever!
Nicole says
Hi Lauren! I got the regular cream. I’m so happy to hear your comment because last night when I opened the box and saw the tiny 1oz. jar I thought for sure they accidentally gave me the wrong size for what I paid! So, I quickly checked the sizes and prices online. Nope, they did it right! I have tried just about everything else and had come to blindly ordering because there isn’t a whole lot to chose from where I am. If it makes my skin soft, I’m totally willing to pay for it.Although, I do wish it were less expensive, of course. I used it last night and it seems to have done a good job. I haven’t done my makeup yet. So, that will be the test! 🙂

To me, nude lips are like zombies. At least they make me look like one,, no matter which shade I try. Which is a shame, because I love the 60´s appeal they have.
Allison C says
Whoa, what a great color combo! Hooray for breaking the rules! That nude lippie is a gorgeous shade. I just got something similar and I thought it would be too light for me, but I like the look. On you, it’s fabulous!
Karen says
Oh cool, Allison! What shade did you get?
Lulle says
With my very pigmented rosy lips and light skin I just can’t pull off this type of color. I’ve tried a lot of beiges in all possible finishes and undertones, and none of them work. I need something a tad deeper for a nude that flatters me.
Karen says
I hear ya. Maybe something like Hourglass Vintage? It’s a deep rose that functions as a nude.
Rachel R. says
What a great color. It’s perfect on you. I really like peachy nudes with intense blue or purple eye looks, like you did here. You look gorgeous.
Karen says
Thanks, Rachel. 🙂 How are you doing? Is your injury healing? I hope that you’re out of your cast soon.
Rachel R. says
My injury is improving, thanks for asking. It’s been hurting much less the last few days. Friday I finally got my crutches, so that helps. (The first medical supply place completely screwed up my order, so I had to go to another one.)
Xen says
Guuuuuuurl you’re looking totally amazing, really glowy and happy! Love you, tabs and your blog, keep up the amazingness 😉
Super huge hugs xx
Karen says
Thanks Xen! I think it’s the bright eyeshadow. Can’t help but smile when I have it on.
Tabs sends his love! He’s taking a nap on my left arm as I type this, haha!
Do you have any pets?
Xen says
Hi! I have two cats, both moggies; Plumpy (he was a fat kitten, ha ha) and Gizmo. I adore them to bits. Please give Tabs a soft stroke from me 🙂
Sending cuddles to you, El Hub, Tabs and little bump xx
Michaela says
Vibrant eyeshadow and nude lipstick combo look gorgeous on you! Thanks for sharing the look!
Lauren says
Agh, how am I missing all of your posts? This looks fantastic on you, Karen! I have about 5 of the creme DE nudes…they came in a holiday set 2 or 3 years ago with subculture liner… it looks awful on me! 😮 and I love the color on everyone else! I’ll have to try the gloss you have with it! Xoxo how are you feeling?!
Stephanie says
What a great rock ‘n’ roll-er look!
Kelly B. says
I’ve heard so much hype over the years of this lipstick, it’s such a gorgeous nude! Definitely on my holiday wishlist!
Channal says
Wow! Love this party makeup!
