Everyday nudes…
A phrase like that could mean a few different things. It could refer to the billboard down the street from my brother’s apartment in SF that reads, “Touch Our Junk.”
(I’m pretty sure it doesn’t mean junk of the discarded/reused/recycled variety.)
It could also refer to eminently wearable nude glosses — the kind you’ll happily wear over and over.
I nude gloss…
This time of year, I love it even more than usual because it’s just swipe and go. You can’t get much lower maintenance than that.
If your boo comes home from work early one random afternoon and says, “Eff this workaday crap, babe! Let’s go be beach bums in Hawaii,” nude glosses are good for times like that… Matte red lips just don’t go with that scenario.
Christina Aguilera could probably pull off matte red lips, a retro tankini and water wings, but me? Not so much. I’d look like the main event in an underwater circus.
Yet another of the many benefits of nude glosses…
A few days ago while rifling through my bag for the chocolate I keep stashed “for emergencies” (don’t front, I you know you do this too), the only nude glosses in my purse were the new Cremesheen Glasses ($20 each) from MAC All About Orange.
In less than a week, they muscled my regular rat pack of beige and pink glosses out of the way.
If you’ve ever worn coral and/or peach glosses and thought, “Ooh! That’s cute,” I bet you’ll also like these.
Double Happiness is the lightest, most distinctive and probably the nudest of the three. Imperial Light and Rising Sun are darker, but for some reason look very much alike on my pigmented lips.
Doesn’t take anything away from them, though. I think they’re still juicy and delicious.
As for wear time, if I slick one of these on after my morning coffee, I have to reapply well before lunch, but that’s not a big deal. They feel straight-up awesome on my lips — moisturizing, non-sticky, smooth, and they have MAC’s signature vanilla flavor and scent.
That’s some kick-@ss comfort right there.
PRICE: $21 each

I understand about the chocolate stash.I keep hard candies and a bottle of water in my car in case of the apocalypse, lol. These look pretty good,I’ll check them out tomorrow. I’m starting to appreciate nude lip glosses lately.

Hi Denise,
Hey, you never know, right?! You don’t want to be caught amongst the zombies without a last chocolate hurrah.
Have fun at the counter today. What’s on your list?

These glosses look really pretty. I kinda overlooked them concetrating so much on the lipsticks from this collection. And, as always, you look beautiful.
Karen says
Hi Agata,
The lipsticks made it easy to get distracted, LOL. I tried layering the lightest shade on top of Flamingo yesterday and it looked really pretty!
Devi says
Karen, love these glosses on you! What blush are you wearing? It looks great 🙂
Karen says
Hi Devi,
It’s one of the new ones from All About Orange, Immortal Flower. It’s my fave out of the three from the launch because it looks so natural. Here’s a review:

I’ve been looking for a shimmery pale orange gloss and Rising Sun is pretty close to what I’ve had in mind, but I wish it was more opaque, but could be sheered out. If you know of any other glosses that might fit the bill, I’d love to know.
PS: Could you ask Tabs to send good kitty vibes to my kitty, Lady Zeal. On top of being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism (she’s getting meds now and is doing better) she’s been ill the last couple of months with some sort of mystery sinus problem that’s making it a bit hard for her to breath, messing with her appetite, and making her snore louder than you’d think was possible for a teeny kitty nose. Hopefully we’ll be getting the right meds to fix her up soon, now that we think we know what’s wrong, but we could use all the healing vibes we can get and since she is a big fan of Tabs’, so I bet she’d be thrilled for some good wishes from him. 😉
Karen says
Definitely. I’ll have him send special purrs and kitty love out into the universe for Lazy Zeal. I hope that she feels better soon. Sending you both so much love…

Rising Sun looks awesome on you!!

Thanks, lady! Doesn’t this remind you of that crazy orange Givenchy quad?
