Well, Jell-O there! I’ll be right with you… I’m just taking a shower with Lush’s new Jilted Elf.
I can’t tell you how excited I was to wash with (and wiggle) Lush’s latest shower jelly. As a chronic new product junkie, especially when it comes to bath stuff, I knew I had to give this bright green blob a try.
I’ve never used anything quite like it before…at least not as an adult! 🙂 It has a gelatinous consistency, and to use it, you can either jiggle the entire green glob out of the jar (weird!), or dig out goopy globules with your fingers. I chose the later, scooping out a small amount.
Sadly, as much as I like the texture and the quirky cool idea, I didn’t end up liking the product as much as I thought I would. The gooey bits took forever to work into a lather, and after washing and rinsing, I felt like my skin was wearing a thick layer of goo (I actually ended up washing again with a bar of soap I had in the shower).
And then there’s the scent…a warm and spicy blend of what could be (but almost certainly isn’t) marmalade mixed with cinnamon, cloves and spicy chai tea. I’m betting it’s one of those love-it-or-hate-it fragrances. I like it, but I suspect it won’t appeal to everyone.
PRICE: $5.95 for a 3.5-oz. jar; $10.95 for a larger 8.5-oz. jar
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Lush stores and also online

Thanks for the review! :O I was so busy last weekend that I didn’t have a chance to order anything off the Lush site yet. I need to re-evaluate what goodies I want to get!

I used to have their jelly from the last Christmas, and my impression of it was similar to yours!..=(

oh this might not be for me. i am highly scent allergic and there are just some scents that set my migraine off.
im just glad i can drink chai tea and not be bothered by it, since thats what i had for lunch today. a grande soy chai w/ 3 shots of pumpkin spice. yum!

Yikes! I’ve liked okay the few things I’ve tried from Lush, but I don’t buy completely into the hype. I feel I can get better things for cheaper from indie bath and body companies. Plus, the sales people are extremely pushy and it messes with my anxiety.

That looks really… offputting to me. Shame it doesn’t work that well either..

What a strange product and a quirky name! I think I would have opted to scoop some out, too. I can’t imagine plunking the whole glob into my hand and scrubbing with it. It would have to be a slow dissolve formula to withstand that (which makes sense with your comment about it taking forever to lather up). On the bright side, it’s bright! 🙂 I’m pretty sure the scent would appeal to me, but I remember when we did fragrance tests for washes at work – I was one of the only people who liked the chai. 🙂

This kind of reminds me of the lime green slime (I think it was called gak?) they had on Nickelodeon when I was younger. Anyway, I find that shower jellies work best with a loofah- it suds up nicely so a small amount goes a long way. I love the Sweetie Pie shower jelly scent.

I’ve never seen a product like that, it looks like slime!

I love the color and the idea of it and I think it’s super cute.. what a bummer that you didn’t like it! I find most of those types of products don’t leave me feeling clean either 🙁
Bun Bun Makeup Tips says
The color looks poisonous! It looks like what witches would brew in a cauldron for a tea party.

There’s not one thing about this product that appeals to me.

I once tried a bath jelly and my experience was like yours. I prefer shower gels and scrubs.

It’s a shame this doesn’t perform well. It looks so cool in the container!

Karen, as usual you are right on time. I was just at Lush this wknd checking this out. The bright green color caught my attention (probably reminiscing of my old nickelodeon days). LOL. Plus the fact that this contains actual vodka is pretty interesting. Its a shame it doesn’t live up to the hype, sounds like a wait for clearance item.

I have had self-imposed restrictions on my visits to my local LUSH store. Everytime they launch a new item I. am. there. A lady at one of the stores was a generous superstar and gave me a full-sized jar of the grape scented shower jelly for my daughter. However, after her initial awe at washing herself with jelly wore off, it has sat in the corner untouched for months. She said it is just too hard to try and actually wash with. I really want to try some anyways, because I love smelling like a spice cupboard (true story!) so I may get a small one, if only to huff it.

I didn’t know Nickelodeon sold their slime to Lush…

Maybe you should squish it with your loofah to make it lather like their other shower jellies..
Mairyn says
Yeah, I own one of these (the blue one, I forget its name) and that is the trick – I dig out some ‘globules’ and squish it onto my poof (the scrunchy poofy ball on a rope type ones, whose actual name I cannot think of) then it foams up. Loofah or exfoliating glove also work to make the jelly foam up.

I’ve tried their other jellies before and didn’t love them either – just a little to fussy…

I own 3 other LUSH shower jellys and i love them! They lather super easy and rinse clean. The key is to ALWAYS use a loofah. Also – try freezing it. It wont get rock solid but it will thicken in consistency and be easier to use 🙂 Plus the cooling sensation is fun.

These things are always such a disappointment to me. I’ve tried a few because of the lovely scents but never got the hang of using them. I still have a couple languishing unopened in my bathroom. 🙁
Nalina says
Alas, I made the purchase and tried it out for my own blogsie. I loved the smell, and it does much better in the lather department than trying to use it in hand-held chunks, but it’s weird to work with. It left my dry skin nice and hydrated, though!

A really good way to use shower jellies is to put them in a loofah. It helps get a really good lather.n I haven’t tried this scent but I really like the whoosh scent.
