Look, over there — do you see it? The limited edition Sugar Plum Fairy Scrub ($4.95)? Isn’t it cute?
This heavenly creature is mostly made of sugar and spice and everything nice…like sodium bicarbonate (that’s baking soda, babe). It’s an exfoliating scrub scented with ylang-ylang (like a deep custard) and jasmine, and it leaves a light floral fragrance on my skin.
I took it into the shower with me last night, hoping it would smooth my bod — specifically the rough patches on my knees, heels and elbows.
The bar melts on contact with water, foaming into a lather with moderately rough scrubbing grains. I was hoping to get away with using half, or maybe a quarter of the bar, but it wasn’t in the mood for that once it got wet. Perhaps I could/should have broken it in half before the shower, just to be able to use it a second time.
It was easy to rinse, and didn’t leave behind any kind of residue, not sticky or otherwise. Immediately after my shower, my skin felt softer and smelled wonderful, but a few minutes later I began to see and feel some minor stretching/tightening.
For a one-time occasion, Lush Sugar Plum Fairy Scrub would make a special treat (or an adorable gift), but I don’t expect to use it on a regular basis.
PRICE: $4.95 for a 3.5-oz bar
AVAILABILITY: At Lush stores and lushusa.com

Ohh you got these..never tried these…I didn’t think they would last too long. It’s the same with their body butters, never get them near the water – they melt so fast!
Karen says
I haven’t tried their body butter yet, so thanks for the heads up!
dani@callitbeauty says
i love their sugar babe sugar scrub! i use it to exfoliate before i shave and it leaves my legs the smoothest its ever been!
Karen says
Everything they make sounds like food, doesn’t it?
Jeannine says
I love Lush products! Love!
Karen says
Hi Jeannie,
I like the textures of their stuff but the scents are hit and miss for me!
Kajal Couture says
OOoh I am going to Lush today so I will check this out! I like a lot of the products that come in a tub because they aren’t exposed to water and they last longer.
Karen says
What are you thinking of getting?
Katrina says
Ouu, I love Lush! They have become my new obsession, love their soaps, especially Porridge and Sea Vegetable.
Karen says
LOL, both of those sound good enough to eat. 😀
Sarah says
i like their products alot too, but they dont last very long at all, so even though they make your skin really soft i agree only for special occasions or maybe when your skin needs a boost 🙂
Karen says
Hi Sarah,
What Lush products are your faves? I really like Goth Juice Hair Gel and am totally bummed that they are discontinuing it. 🙁
Amber says
It looks like a cookie! Mmm, cookies…
Karen says
Haha, I was thinking the same thing! SUGAR COOKIE!
Amber says
Y’know, I thought offices were supposed to be floor-to-ceiling utopias of candy and baked goods during the holidays, but I am STILL waiting for a platter of fudge to appear in the breakroom. Heck, I’d take a brownie at this point! With nuts, even!
Karen says
At my gig at the law office the holidays were DANGEROUS. The two weeks before Christmas people would constantly bring in cakes, cookies, pies, chocolate… you couldn’t turn a corner without running into something totally delicious.
That’s the only thing I miss about that job, LOL!
Kim says
Cute! Too bad about the tightening skin and the one-time use, though. I used to love BBW’s Sugar Plum wash and lotion when I was young (back around the turn of the century). 🙂
Kim says
Oh, wait! I’m so old that when I refer to the turn of the century, I really mean 1900. I definitely wasn’t young when 2000 rolled around! What a wasted comment. I apologize. 🙂
Karen says
You are so funny! No worries about the extra comments.
Sometimes I feel like I’ve been around since 1900, not gonna lie. It really hits me when I don’t understand things like the allure of Justin Bieber.
Kim says
Oh, I agree! I was telling my boys this week that I don’t think I have ever heard a JB song. They were stunned since apparently his songs are on the radio a lot. Of course, my kids are waaaaaay too cool to like him. Clearly he’s getting a lot of backlash from the 7 year old boy crowd. 😉 We had to have a talk about why it’s unkind to bash someone, especially a complete stranger who happens to be famous.
On a related note, I remember one of my best friends loving Mmm Bop. When I saw the video on MTV (when they still played videos), I almost died of embarrassment for her. 🙂
Karen says
Wait, so neither of your boys has the Bieber cut? I thought that was the universal boy haircut of 2010!
Ya know, I can’t remember the last time I actually watched a video on MTV!
I still remember when they had only a handful of videos on the channel. Pour Some Sugar On Me was on every five minutes. Gosh, I’m old…
gio says
That looks so pretty! I love Lush products but they don’t last long…
Karen says
Hi Gio,
I haven’t tried a lot of things from the line, but so far I’ve liked most of it!
What products are your faves?
tasha says
i love lush but im not a big fan of their scrubs.. i usually smash it into a jar and just grab a handful when i need it.. my current favorite of scrub is carol’s daughter in ecstasy. its very moisturizing. i also got the body souffle.. i only moisturized my body every other day in winter!
Karen says
Hi Tasha,
I’ve yet to try any of the Carol’s Daughter body care products, but I’ve heard they’re great.
My favorite scrub right now is Burt’s Bees Cranberry & Pomegranate Sugar Scrub. The only thing I wish I could change about it is that it leaves the tub really slippery!
Tekoa says
I also got my Sugar Plum Fairy wet and was forced to use the entire thing it one shower. I expect its a single use product. If you want to get more than one scrub session out of it cutting Sugar Plum Fairy in half before hand is the way to go.
My cats think Lush gifts are great. They love playing in the box afterwards.
Karen says
How are the kitties doing, Tekoa?
Tekoa says
The kitties are fine. So far no one has climbed to the top of the Christmas tree…… and ridden it down. How odd. Has Tabs ever gone tree scaling? He seems far to dignified for that.
Mallory says
If you ask them they will actually smoosh it up for you and put it in a little plastic jar. They did that with mine, so I can regulate how much of it I use at a time!
Karen says
That’s a good to know. Next time I try one of these I will probably squash it in a plastic bag first. 🙂
Principessa Grassa says
Interesting! I didn’t try this one, but I tried the Sugar Babe one. I had mixed feelings about it–it fell apart really fast, but it seemed fairly moisturizing, mostly because it had a hunk of something gooey (like shea butter or something, not sure) in the middle. I don’t think I’d buy it again.
Nina says
it looks so cute and yummy! i like some of lush’s stuff but some can be pretty hit and miss. 🙂
Jana says
LOVE these! They are perfect in the tub after a long day dealing with clients. I actually broke it up into chunks to see if it would last. I divided it in half and had two days of luxury. Awesomeness!
Liz says
I like to break up their sugar scrubs before the first use and only bring into the shower enough for pne use. I get 3-4 uses that way. Follow up with coco lotion or Creme anglaise for a real treat!
Elle says
I’m always kinda back and forth on Lush…I like the concepts but haven’t been that wowed with anything they make yet. Plus the stores smell pretty overwhelming.
Karen says
I hear you with the scent. If I’m having a really sensitive nose day I can’t bear to bring myself inside sometimes.
Shoe says
It looks so pretty though! My one issue with Lush things with exfoliating bits in them is that they are sometimes a bit too rough like porridge soap. Are the sugar scrubs very rough? Thanks!
🙂
