MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Positively Dashing
Lovahs of long-wearing lipstick, prepare to park your pout in front of the new MAC Pro Longwear Lipcremes for a prolonged play session when the MAC Styledriven collection cruises onto counters in t-minus 10 days.
Available in 12 shades of long-wearing pink, plum, orange, red and purple, these pigmented pretties may cost a bit more than MAC’s regular lipsticks ($17 U.S./$20 CDN versus $14.50 U.S./$17.50 CDN), but if you like creamy, pigmented lipsticks that latch onto lips and won’t let go, they deliver that much and a whole lot more.
Four of the 12 shades, from left to right: Dress It Up, Positively Dashing, So Very Good and Soft Sell
From the four shades I’ve been getting acquainted with, I’m beginning to think of these Lipcremes as upgraded versions of the MAC Amplified lipsticks (one of my favorite lipstick finishes from MAC), with similarly rich, intense pigments in a softer, creamier, more moisturizing formula.
More to like…
- A forgiving finish — You know how some pigmented lipsticks can put a spotlight on any imperfections (like cracks/flakes) on your lips? That’s something these Lipcremes, despite their punchy pigments, don’t seem to do.
- Wonderful wear time — So far today a single layer of Lipcreme has lasted me through three cups of tea and a bowl of Annie Chun’s Teriyaki Noodles for lunch. Lesser lipsticks would have given up the ghost by now.
- A smooth operator — Despite how pigmented they are, I don’t feel like I have to use a lip brush with these to get a smooth, even application. I can apply them straight from the tube (with a caveat I’ll mention in a moment), which is great.
- They make good scents — My super sensitive nose and taste buds both fancy the delicate vanilla flavor and scent.

Besides their slightly elevated price point, my only issue with these (and it’s a minor quibble) has to do with the shape of the bullet’s tip. Rather than a traditional wedged tip with a point, the Lipcremes are flat and ovoid at the ends. Fine — even great — for two quick swipes across my upper lip and one along the bottom, but guiding them carefully around tighter corners and into spaces like my Cupid’s bow can be tricky.
All in all, though, I’m in love with these lippies and think they’d be fantastic for work (or for a long date, for that matter), especially if you’re a minimalist who wants something you won’t have to reapply multiple times throughout the day.
PRICE: $17 U.S./$20 CDN
AVAILABILITY: Coming September 22 to MAC counters and stores in North America; internationally some time this month

The past couple of MAC lipsticks I bought had the same flat top (Sheen Supreme in Full Speed and Supremely Confident). I actually kind of like it for some reason–probably because I’m more of a lip balm/gloss gal most of the time. 8)
Anyway… Soft Sell looks fantastic on you! ♥

I think I might try one of these with the new launch. None of the colors in the one last year really spoke to me, but it’s such a great formula I want to check out the new colors.

Love! My lipsticks all end up flat anyway, no matter how hard I try to keep an edge. 🙂

These look great on you! I’m not much of a lipstick girl, but I’m curious about these. I may have to pick one up.

These look lovely on you! So polished and pretty. I don’t like the shape, either…I have a pretty pronounced cupid’s bow and I never liked that the mattenes and slimshines weren’t pointy. Still want to check these out though.

These look like promising lippies. Good photos of you too!

Are you using a different foundation? If so, what?
Naj says
Hey Karen! You look somewhat different in these photos but I can’t figure out why. Hahaha. Anyways, wanted to ask, are these lipcreams limited edition? They sound like they’re good products and that makes it sad if it’s only limited edition.
Heidi says
Soft Sell looks so great on you. These sound like a promising new addition to the MAC line.
Lulle says
Soft Sell looks beautiful! But why couldn’t they make a clean cut at the top? They all look like they haven’t been shaped carefully enough…
