You know a hair product is holy grail when 1) you talk about it nonstop, 2) you’re already making plans to hoard more bottles of it during the next Sephora VIB sale, and 3) you’re having perfect hair days left, right and upside-down.
I WILL NOT STOP until everyone on earth (or at least a majority of us) understands just how bomb .dot com Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo is! It’s the relatively new dry shampoo that’s been rocking my world lately, and it’s available now at Sephora, $22 for a 4-oz. bottle (I also gushed about it in last week’s 5 Things I’ve Been Loving Lately).
Hence this video.
And then I also learned a new foundation application technique about which I have to tell you. 🙂 I got it from Butter London makeup artist and manicurist Katie Jane Hughes. She recently did a Falling for Fall makeup tutorial on her YouTube channel in which she does a cool foundation application technique. Give it a look-see if you get a moment.
I tried something similar this morning, substituting the cushion compact foundation Katie uses with MAC Studio Waterweight Foundation, which I applied with a damp foundation brush (The Hourglass Foundation/Blush Brush No. 2 spritzed with Avene’s Eau Thermale), and I love how it turned out. Very skin-like, but with a good level of coverage.
Katie also has an Instagram account, too, where she posts pics of her looks, makeup tips and funny quotes. I think you’ll like her style. She does spectacular skin, and her dramatic, eye-catching colorful looks are still pretty accessible.
AND HER BROWS!? To die for.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Hi Karen – I’ve heard such great reviews for this dry shampoo – but it absolutely didn’t work for me at all! Boo. The science behind it is pretty cool, so I really wish it worked for me. The nerd in me is a sucker for science. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Tuhina,
Sorry to hear this didn’t work for you. Have you ever tried Klorane? It’s excellent.
Oh, I’m also trying a new one by Aveda (LOVE their stuff); I’ll let you know if it’s any good.
Tuhina says
I love Klorane! Ooh, yes, Aveda products are amazing. I’ll have to check theirs out.
Karen says
Yeah, I have the one for dark hair and it’s excellent. The Aveda one’s smells like Shampure, which I’m really excited about. I hope my roots like it too. 🙂

I haven’t tried anything by Living Proof yet, but you’re so excited about it that I really want to get it now, lol!

Will check out the video right away! And applying foundation with a damp brush eh? Interesting, I might try that tomorrow with the Waterweight foundation, thanks for sharing!

I just got that Klorane dry shampoo based on Melissas rave (and because I was in France anyway, going crazy with my shopping), but these Living Proof products have been on my list for quite a while now.

I just used this today, and was surprised at how good my hair looked! I still felt some residue, but a definite improvement over other dry shampoos!

Just tried the foundation application technique this morning with NARS concealer and IOPE air cushion. I love the natural finish…will see how long this will last. =)

I like using a damp kabuki brush for days when I want to sheer out my foundation a bit (coughallthissummercough). I’ll have to check out that dry shampoo! I saw the new Aveda one but the price per ounce seemed a bit extreme for them. And thanks for the link to Katie Jane, loving her looks!

I tried Living Proof Dry Shampoo the other day and it left terrible white powder all over my hair. Karen, I have dark hair like yours, how did you combat it? I liked the science-y cleaning aspect of it, but white roots just don’t look good. I’d appreciate any suggestions because I am looking for a good dry shampoo. Thanks!
Karen says
Hi Em,
Try changing the distance by holding the spray at arm’s length away from your roots, and use short bursts. That should do it.
Em says
I will. Thanks!
