Sometimes, all a sister wants is to sit on the couch all damned day long eating crunchy things out of bags… Potato chips, Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies, maybe a few chocolate-chip macadamia nut cookies if they’re readily available.
And sometimes she doesn’t.
Sometimes, a sister wants to tower over the pyramids in leading lady leather high heels and femme fatale false lashes and big hair visible from space! 🙂
It’s the latter times when these new Lipstick Queen Silver Screen Lipsticks are extra nice.
Glossy, glamorous shades inspired by the sirens of the silver screen, these pricey pretties are a shock-inducing $50 a tube, but at least they satisfy like a Snickers bar. The creamy formula slips onto lips like a silk dress, leaving behind a finish so shiny that even the haughtiest, naughtiest vixen would purr.
Super fans of the Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick line may also love these. They’re around the same price, with similarly high levels of pigment (so high they could touch the sky!) and a preternaturally smooth, moisturizing formula. Depending on the shade, they also last on my lips around the same 3-5 hours.
These don’t have the same rosy flavor and scent as the Rouge Gs, though, which is kind of a bummer, because I prefer that to Silver Screen’s strong peppermint flavor and scent…which makes me feel a little like I’m wearing really pretty, really expensive toothpaste.
Mind you, really, REALLY pretty toothpaste.
Everything about these lipsticks (except for maybe the peppermint, but that’s a personal thing), from the velvet boxes, to the weighty tubes, to the embossed bullets and the satisfying click the magnetic caps make when they close, seems high end to me.
If you feel the urge to splurge, you can find the six new $50 Silver Screen Lipsticks now at Lipstick Queen counters, SpaceNK stores and spacenk.com.
PRICE: $50 each
AVAILABILITY: Permanent, and available now at Lipstick Queen counters, SpaceNK stores and online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+ (Expensive, glam and gorgeous. And very minty.)
The sports bra drama continues…
After I mentioned my sports bra drama yesterday, I did end up going to Target last night and picked up two C9 Seamless Cami Sports Bras by Champion.
Yay! — success.
Kind of.
I got them in a size smaller than my usual and doubled up on them, and while they don’t have seams and didn’t chafe on my run today, I probably won’t wear them on runs more than three miles… The support would be just fine for shorter distances, but anything more than that, and my boobs would feel like they were flying all over the place.
They bras are really soft, though, and comfy… Great for lounging around the house or for low-impact things like yoga.
AND THEY DON’T CHAFE! So thumbs up. 😀
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Embrace the high-end sports bra! My life changed after I got my first Panache sports bra. I can run for kilometres in mine, I played field hockey in them, and mine has lasted years. They’re pricey, but fantastic. Especially when you’re really busty.
Also, those lipsticks look amazing. Totally birthday splurge worthy I think.

I LOVE Lipstick Queen but paying $50 for a tube is very much a case of sticker shock in my case. I just can’t seeing myself purchasing these. I’ll stick with her other stuff.

My favorite short bra for running is the Vero bra by Moving Comfort. They are amazingly supportive, and they hold up very well after numerous washings.
Deanna says
I meant sport bra, not short bra! Auto correct fail lol.

The price tag is a bit much, but it’s good to know that they’ll be part of their permanent line, whew! Just gotta save up my money for them :3

I don’t understand why did they price these so high? They already have Velvet Rope and now another!

Ouch! (that’s my wallet, in terrible pain). See Me is really pretty though. And I agree, the lipsticks just ooze luxury.

I’m choking a bit on my coffee… $50?!?!?! I didn’t think Lipstick Queen was such an expensive brand. See Me sure is pretty though.
I like the Champion sports bras for volleyball and pilates, but you’re right – not much support. What if you tried one of the new VS ones? They have support and a zipper to keep everyone in place. I’m small up top though, so that’s about as much advice as I have to offer. I hope you find something that fits. There is nothing (and I mean nothing!) like constantly adjusting or having the ladies uncomfortable.

They are super pretty and a $50 tube would probably last me for the rest of my life. 🙂
Bummer on the sports bras. I’m only a B/C but still prefer the bras with the built in cups for support. I’m not a fan of that squished in feeling, especially at that time of the month when there’s a little soreness anyway. Good luck in your search!

I seriously love the look of these, especially of the darker shades from the line.

Have you tried sports bras from REI? I cashed in on my dividend $ this year with one and I swear it mashes the girls so well I look like a boy. And I’m C/D! Super tricky to get out of after I’m all sweaty but it’s perfect for high impact running and jumping.

Oh, Honey! I have been on the Lipstick Queen bandwagon for a long, long time. I love her lipsticks like no other. Since we’re moving in 3 days, and we’re hemorrhaging $$$ like a Kardashian, there are no high end lipsticks in my very near future. It really bites, but we’re getting a sweet home .25 miles from the beach, so I have to juggle my priorities, lol.

Love those colours but $50 is a bit much… and I thought my Marc Jacobs lipstick was pricey.

It’s nice to see someone finally get ahold of some of the Silver Screen collection to swatch! I absolutely love Lipstick Queen’s Velvet Rope in Black Tie, and I was curious if these Silver Screen ones were just as impressive. Not that it’s anywhere near my budget right now, but perhaps in the future, I’ll splurge on one color. I absolutely love the regular line of Lipstick Queen (a much easier on the wallet $22), but every once in awhile, it’s nice to get an upgrade. I love the color See Me on you!

Let me tell you that I don’t care about the 50$ lipstick as much as how you look wearing see me, awesome 😉 you rock the look girl. Stunning *.*
LindaLibraLoca says
I would rather splurge on a sports bra than on a lipstick. There is no cream that can undo the damage done when running without proper support.
Although the lipsticks are tempting.

These are beautiful lipsticks and the formula sounds great. But $50? Ouch!
