Wearing Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in Coffee Bean
Freaks. Crazies. Zealots.
Those who don’t understand often refer to us by those terms…
No matter. At some point — and it’s usually when you find yourself laughing hysterically while clutching two handfuls of lip liners and foaming at the mouth — you realize THIS IS WHO I AM!
I am the lipstick lovin’ girl who finds the prospect of a fresh crop of fall lip liners to wear with rich reds, plums and browns even more thrilling than watching Ryan Gosling bust out the Dirty Dancing moves.
Yes, strangers accuse me of radical lip liner love. Do they have a point? Absolutely. But I don’t think it’s fair to call me an addict, per se.
More like a devoted practioner. A lip liner champion. A fighter for lined lips everywhere!
The latest addiction addition to my list of loves? — these two new members of the Laura Mercier Lip Liner permanent line ($20 each).
The shades I’ve been switching back and forth between — True Red and Coffee Bean — are two of seven new pencils in the line. The others are Carnation, Crushed Berry, Deep Wine, Praline and Warm Poppy.
I love the way warm True Red works with NARS Heatwave lipstick and MAC Lady Danger, and Coffee Berry, a rich brown, pairs perfectly with MAC Paramount.

Lip Pencil in True Red
The Laura Mercier Lip Pencils
- The creamy, easy-to-blend formula glides on smoothly, and it doesn’t dry out my lips (yay!).
- They’re a touch softer than my beloved MAC Lip Pencils but don’t seem to last as long on my lips, and I usually have to reapply them after a meal.
- At $20 for a 0.05-ounce stick, they’re not cheap. MAC Lip Pencils, by comparison, cost $15 for a pencil of the same size.
- I sure dig the texture, formula and colors, but I wish they were cheaper and lasted longer.
PRICE: $20 each

Your feelings on fringe?
I was browsing online for boots this morning and noticed that there seems to be a lot of foot fringe happening this fall…
I’m not sure how I feel about this.
Part of me likes the idea of the fringe gently waving as I walk — kinda like one of those fringe flapper dresses, except for your feet.
The Sam Edelman Luella Boot, $290 (!), available now at zappos.com
But my practical side keeps thinking, “Tabs is gonna trip me up! He’ll be going after these like they’re cat toys.”
What are your feelings on boots with fringe? Thumbs up or thumbs down?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I know this post is about lips but please share what’s on your eyes! I’m LOVING them. As I’ve said before, I love a dramatic eye and a dramatic lip. Gorgeous!

I like the boots! I’m searching for a pair of lace up boots for fall, and I slept too late to get a pair I really liked on Haute Look :p

Those gals on Haute Look are NOT PLAYIN’. It’s like you blink and then all the good stuff is gone!
Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
I love True Red on you, and your hair is SOOOOOOO gorgeous in these photos!
I can’t do boots with fringe because I think I’d be pushing it with all the colors/patterns going on! And true, you’ll have to stash them away safely. I don’t know about Tabs but Tango killed a boot when he was little so I learnt my lesson early!

Karen, honey… the True Red is gorgeous on you!! You look stunning.

Lovely! Your eye makeup and hair is fantastic as well!
I checked out their long wearing cream lipsticks-pretty darn good! It was a toss between either this or the Too Faced ones-and i finally got Cinnamon Kiss from Too Faced. Both are lovely, creamy and reasonably long wearing formulations!

That shade of red is just beautiful on you–and the matte finish is even more perfect. Love it! But don’t love the boots–sorry!
Tracy@Beauty Reflections says
Boy can you rock a red lip Karen! These liners look great!
I like the fringe-very 70s country vibe.

I love Haute Look, but I have been addicted to myhabit.com lately. Their prices are usually better than Haute Look and gilt.com for the same items. Plus, they offer free shipping both ways. Because I am in Japan, I have to stay up until 1am for when the sales open. Otherwise, all the choice items are gone in about half an hour. These are beautiful liners. I may go back to wearing full lipstick and liner again after this review! I have been a gloss girl for a long while now.

Thumbs up for these particular boots, but I’m normally not really into fringes. I guess I don’t really have an inner cowgirl 😉
P.S.: Commentluv is erroring on me: XML error: XML_ERR_NAME_REQUIRED at line 6, column 41. Does anyone else have that too?

I wont wear the boots, personally, but I feel like theyre fun and they are def adorable. I curse my short legs for my avoidance of all tall boots!
The lipliners are pretty, but my personal rule w/ lipliners is ill never spend more than $15 on one. The cheaper, the better, and my current faves are by Essence and NYX (both less than 3 bucks!!!).

Oh! How I love a brown lip! I want a nineties comeback. Looks amazing on you.

I like the boots, but I don’t think I could wear them, myself. I do have a pair of ankle-high fringed moccasins that I enjoy wearing in the fall, but you can hide the fringe under bootcut jeans if you don’t want to show it 🙂
The red lip look is awesome on you! Looks very sophisticated and polished!
Ankita@corallista says
True red looks gorgeous! You look super glam with false lashes 🙂

I liked the fringe on my Lady Tonto Halloween costume. These boots look suspiciously like the boot toppers that came with it. 🙂
Cindy (Prime Beauty) says
I love these too Karen. I have Crushed Berry–gorgeous, (it would look fab on you) and the pale Carnation. Oh and…. just say no to fringe. I get visions of my fringed leather vest in the 7th grade-shudders.

what a lovely shade, and i totally love the elegant look 😀

Wow! Beautiful! Gorgeous! I also like the look of your eyes.
