Have you tried The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall-Smith? I really love this slim volumes for travel. Not overly taxing and fun, AND you learn some fascinating bits of practical info. The Philosophy Club series is also good.

LMdB will continue to be a wish list for now. For when I win some kind of a lottery.
