Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Spiced Rose
Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away…
Okay, so it wasn’t that long ago. More like last year. But nevertheless, last year at this place I’m talking about there lived a lipstick lover who, despite her best efforts, couldn’t find a long-wearing, moisturizing lipstick to save her life.
Every time she came close, she would fall into despair, with the contender leaving her parched pout just as dry and cracked as before.
Not one to give up easily, our lipstick lover looked and looked for the elusive creature, only to come up empty handed. Disappointed, she began to doubt that such a creature existed at all, and then one fall (this fall, actually), a field of moisturizing lip products sprouted up on shelves!
She saw Make Up For Ever’s glossy new Aqua Rouge Liquid Lip Colors and the Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipsticks from Hourglass, which covered her matte bases, but she still needed something in between…
Her heart longed for a shiny, long-wearing lipstick — but not too shiny — packed with pigment and comfortable to wear.
Just then, something caught her eye over at the Laura Mercier counter…

It was Laura’s new $26 Crème Smooth Lip Colours, available in 18 shades.
I’ve been getting to know a few of them this week — tawny peach Crème Coral, warm Rosewood and rosy beige Spiced Rose — and they make a pretty good first impression.
Effortlessly lightweight, natural-looking and oh-so-moisturizing, they also have a semi-luminous finish with a light shine.
One rich layer of the unscented, unflavored formula, which Laura loaded with olive oil and vitamin E, completely covers my lips with color and eradicates any flakes.

These are billed as lasting 6-8 hours, and I get pretty close to that. Not quite. I’d say it’s more like 5-6 hours, assuming I’m sipping and/or snacking.
So far I’ve only tried three of the shades, but from what I’ve seen, I can’t wait to try more.
I just slip a layer on my lips directly from the tube. No lip liner necessary, since the formula’s so easy to control. While it feels light on my lips, the texture is on the thicker side.
Some blush and a pair of smokey eyes, and I’m ready to take on the world!
Or maybe my living room. 🙂
PRICE: $26 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Laura Mercier counters and lauramercier.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+ (I only wish they lasted a little longer)
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. I feel like I need to tell you that I have both Night at the Roxbury and So I Married an Axe Murderer waiting for me on the DVR, and I CANNOT WAIT to plop my booty on the couch to watch ’em back to back (ideally with a tub of Three Twins ice cream).
That’s my plan, and I’m sticking to it!
Whatcha up to? How was your Tuesday?

How do these compare to Too Faced La Creme formula? I have TFLC in Cinnamon Kiss and love it. Just wondered if Laura Mercier was any different.

I LOVE these!!! Can’t wait to pick up a few this weekend 🙂

I like these! Laura Mercier isn’t a brand I’ve heard of untill recently, but they seem to have some nice products. I do wonder how they compare to the TFLC? Are they very similar or is one better overall? I think which ever is better I’ll end up buying some. I like a hydrating, easy to wear lipstick that I don’t have to reapply constantly.

I havent really tried their makeup collection yet but I do love their fragrances. With your review, I think I would like to try their lip colours too!

Those are so gorgeous! I love Creme Coral and Spiced Rose–definitely two shades that I would probably choose for myself. Plus I love the new packaging–very Burberry-esque! 😀
Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
LOVE these on you! My favorite formula at the moment is Guerlain Rouge Automatique, but these sound similar enough! Rouge Automatiques stay for 5+ hours on my lips and are very comfortable to wear. Think I need to check these out too though!

They look gorgeous, I’m in love! I’m trying out longlasting lipsticks myself as we speak, so I’m glad you posted this article 🙂

Unscented and loaded with vitamin E whilst providing lasting color. I’m sold! LM hasn’t disappointed me yet.
Swatch And Learn says
I’ve never tried any Laura Mercier lip products, but the colours you showed look like they’d be very easy to wear and low maintenance, which is nice. 🙂

They are so soft and pretty!

You must be talking about me in that description. I have a matte (L’Oreal Infallible) and I have a glossy (Makeup Forever Aqua Rouge) but I need something in the middle for my crazy bold red lipstick phase I’m in the middle of. I will have to give this line a try. The Portofino and Haute Red caught my eye.
Wait why is the peachy pink color named Mango? 0.o

These look very wearable! I’d like to try Plum Berry some day, I haven’t tried LM lipsticks yet.

The shades you picked up are so gorgeous, and after this whole post, I think I might be in love with these lip colours.
