Fear not the coral lipstick, for it knows not what it does. Some of them just don’t know that they can look a little too South Beach senior swingers for their own good, but add a dash of pink, a semi-matte finish and voilà ! — the springy and fun Laura Mercier Sheer Lip Colour in Kissed Lips ($22).
Part of spring’s Lingerie collection, Kissed Lips excels at looking natural and fresh, but it’s not the lowest maintenance lippie on the block.
First, my lips need to be smoother than a porcelain doll’s because the texture’s pretty thick. Kissed Lips tends to catch on every flake, so it’s a no-go for me if/when my lips are extra dry.
Complicating matters, the formula seems fairly drying to me, which means having to start with a layer of something moisturizing first, like a really good lip balm.
After applying a balm and letting it settle in, I dab Kissed Lips lightly on my pucker for a light my-lips-but-better stain; for a more concentrated look, I bust out a lip brush, since the color tends to spread unevenly when I apply it directly from the tube.
Speaking of the color, I like it! — but I want to love it, and for me and my perpetually dry lips, I think the formula holds it back. I’m pretty sure I’d be tempted to hoard backups of Kissed Lips if it came in Stickgloss or Gel Lip Colour form…
As for wear time, taste and smell, I get about four hours, but the vanilla flavor and scent seem heavier than usual, based on the other Laura lip products I’ve tried.

Punxsutawney Phil: America’s most accurate weatherman
Happy Groundhog Day, one and all! It’s kind of a silly holiday, I know, but any holiday that features a furry creature gets a thumbs up from me.
On February 2 each year, the town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, throws a big party, which starts way before sunrise, with the guest of honor being a groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil. If Phil pops out of his burrow and appears to see his own shadow, it means we’ll have six more weeks of winter (as opposed to an early spring).
And wouldn’t ya know it? Phil saw his shadow this morning…
Not exactly scientific, but since 1887, Phil’s had a pretty good record over the years.
According to the news this morning, Phil is actually part of a large conglomerate of meteorologist groundhogs who work at festivals and celebrations across the country.
They have a nice little business going, but it’s a little weak on customer service… The groundhogs always look really grumpy when the official “groundhog handlers” lift them in the air. 🙂

Whoa! I just realized something… I make the exact same face when I’m woken up from a nap, haha!

I know you are more into bright eyes, but I really love you with a heavier look too!
Too bad about the dry formula. In that case I should be passing it as well…

I absolutely love this color on the lips (underscore, itatlics, bold) and am puzzled as to why it looks coral in the tube and baby pink on the lips. I don’t have problems with dry lips but as I compulsively pile on the burts bees balm I’m guessing that this wont work out for me in the long run.
i’ve always wondered about this groundhog business, if it falls on an overcast day the groundhog isn’t going to see his shadow anyway so how is that supposed to be a predictor? I guess you have to suspend scientific tendencies when it comes to tradition.
