Hiya, my ’round the way girls,
Did you have a good weekend? As usual, mine went by way too quickly, but I managed to sneak in a few fun things, like a visit to Sausalito (a pretty, touristy town in southern Marin), a movie (The Perfect Getaway … come to mama Josh Duhamel!) and discovering a fab new hair product.
I’ve been desperate for something to revive my mane, which has been looking scragglier than post-Britney K-Fed. To get it to behave, I’ve been overdosing on heat styling — abusing it with the hair dryer, flat iron *and* curling iron. Terrible, I know. Now, my long locks look and feel coarse, dull and dry.
So, when I heard about Kerastase’s new Chroma Thermique ($36), I went haaaay!
Some quick background: Chroma Thermique is the newest member of the Chroma Riche line, designed by Kerastase to add softness, moisture and shine to dull, dry colored hair. Wrapped up in purty pink bottles, these floral-scented shampoos, conditioners and treatments cost a pretty penny, ranging from $32-58 (ouch).
Chroma Thermique, the newest member of the gang, is a rich leave-in treatment that adds moisture, shields hair from heat and infuses it with protective UV filters. Kerastase recommends working a walnut-sized dollop from shaft to ends after shampooing/conditioning and before blow drying.
First off, it’s a fantastic de-tangler. All my knots disappeared (and I *always* have plenty to spare), allowing my brush to slip through quite easily. The extra slip seemed to decrease the time and effort it usually takes to blow dry, which this busy girl totes appreciates.
After what felt like the world’s fastest blowout, my hair looked smoother, straighter and shinier — even my highlights appeared brighter than they have in months. My mane bounced around my shoulders with some crazy volume, too.
This stuff is like a slow-motion hair commercial in a bottle, but like everything in the Kerastase line, it’s tres expensive. If you have colored hair, rely heavily on your blow dryer and/or are used to paying for hair products in the Bumble & Bumble price range, then Chroma Thermique might be worth checking out because it rescues dull, lifeless colored hair with a quickness. Hi Karen,
I just might have to try this because my hair looks horrible as of late! I usually blow dry and flat iron every day, but for some reason it’s looking fried and really “fly-away” lately. I hope my new T3 isn’t wreckin’ my hair! 🙁

Everyone I know who has tried Kerastase products have absolutely loved them and I’m surprised that more people haven’t tried the range, myself included! But these days I try to stick to completely organic products, so I’m limited in what I can try!

Kerastase makes some really amazing products!! I’m addicted to the whole green line. I specially love Ciment Thermique, which is a multitasking product that strenghthens, conditions, repairs and protects hair before heat styling and blowdrying.

I’m Eru, I love the green line. It totally transformed my damaged hair, making it beautiful soft and shiny. Ciment thermique is wonderful and smells like grapefruit, gorgeous. I use a lot of Kerastase hair products as I find that if I use something else my hair just doesn’t look as good!
I switch between the green reistance range and the soleil range (The soleil shampoo is really cleansing and the smell reminds me of holidays!) I sometimes use bain satin too but I mostly use that in winter when my hair is a little drier.
I really want to try the night time conditioner next but have to save up for that one!

I splurged on the Bain Satin about a year ago and of course I am hooked. Kerastase is worth every penny! Thanks for this review 🙂

This may just go on my next month splurge list! Gotta have soft, shiny curls! 🙂

I’ve recently become pretty obsessed with Kerastase, much to the annoyance of my wallet. My hair just loves it though and I can’t argue with good hair days. I love that this product has heat protectants and UV filters. Or maybe just because it is pink 😛

Alison,
I’m looking forward trying the night treatment too, but I agree, It’s very expensive. Till we save enough money, I recomend you Redken’s Overnight Treat, it worked for me! 😀 Bain satin is gorgeous for dry, coarse hair. I used it a while ago and loved it.

I’ve been noticing the exact same problem with my hair. The ends are looking frazzled and gross. I’ve been longing to try Kerastase b/c I’ve never heard a bad thing about it but the price tag really puts me off. $36 isn’t too bad I guess, I would probably only use it once a week.

First, I’d like to say that I think my T3 blowdryer is doing more harm than good..I need to try this product!! Also, Karen, have you tried the Moroccan Oil stuff? The oil is great for everyday before you blowdry (and smells amaaaazing) but the hair mask is the BOMB. It helps.. temporarily…I think I just need a hair cut but I’m trying to grow:(
Karen says
Hi Sarah,
I haven’t tried it — does it leave your hair feeling greasy?
